@jester I'm not sure how to word what I'm thinking, and I don't want to spend that much time thinking about it, but I'll try my best here:
I agree with you, and I think some of those people (like the girl you just described) either have other problems that should be regarded or not thinking straight. But for people who for whatever reason don't have friend circles or any kind of network for them at hand, could find themselves getting desperate.
I wasn't talking towards the thread, sorry. I was talking towards the bigger picture. What I meant by that statement was that there are an infinite amount of reasons to search for a place to belong.

My mind did jump to the extreme view - probably because it's the only view I have an opinion about, haha. I do agree that we need more (and healthy) opportunities for students (or anyone, for that matter) to meet others with similar interests. Especially where I live; there are no connections. If you don't already have a friend group, you're screwed. And ah, okay. I try not to politicize things, but I definitely see what you mean.

I'm not okay. Any minute I'm gonna a breakdown and cry. Apparently trying to be me and be a Christian is considered inappropriate and horrible.
Long story short: I'm in a fight with my sister in-law and my brother over my identity
So yeah, I'm getting by

Ok guys here's a topic of discussion: How do we reconcile the writings of James (for example, James 2:24: "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone") and the writings of Paul (for example, Romans 3:28: "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law", and also the entire rest of Romans)?

Ok guys here's a topic of discussion: How do we reconcile the writings of James (for example, James 2:24: "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone") and the writings of Paul (for example, Romans 3:28: "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law", and also the entire rest of Romans)? Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear as can be: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Meanwhile, James teaches that faith without works is dead: "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?" (James 2:14-16) Jesus's words in Matthew 5 tie it all together. Verses 14-16 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Paul's emphasis is on Matthew 5:3: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." James's is Matthew 7:21: "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven." Both emphasize the two points of the Sermon on the Mount. Works do not save a person -- faith does -- but true faith ought to produce good works. "By their fruit you will recognize them" (Matthew 7:16). How can we say we love humanity and want to glorify God if we never set out to show this love in accordance with God's will? He has commanded that we preach the Gospel to all mankind (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19), to love one another (John 4:7), and to serve others (1 Peter 4:10, again with James 2:14-16). One can do good works without faith, but that will not save them, because no one is righteous (Romans 3:10) and our works alone are as filthy rags (Isaish 64:6). But one cannot have faith without works, because the Spirit of God in one's heart produces good fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). My take on it.

Oh jeez. Those demons really need to screw off. I'm guessing it's them again, and not a home intruder or something (it's probably not, and hopefully not). I'll pray for your safety and that those demons finally just leave.
