Hello and thank you~ You're welcome to join, though I hope you don't mind my leaving the role of Cyn's counterpart open for now? In the mean time, feel free to ask me questions to help you build on your character! I have a lot of ideas and such but I'm too lazy to detail them in the initial post...

'Course 'course. Hm, to start- I intend for there to be very few students in the school who know that magic is an actual thing. Even if they have it, they might think that it's just some weird superpower or abilities unique only to them. This only applies if they aren't a pureblood however. Purebloods are basically like those in Harry Potter, but they actually have reason to feel superior because they generally have more powerful magic. On the flip side, pureblood magic is highly specialized, unlike more common magic-users who tend to have more versatile abilities. Some can even use multiple disciplines.
Though technically human- with a few notable exceptions- they're collectively known as Thaumaturges with...not quite subclasses- I'll just call them different disciplines for now, though they tend to be hereditary.
Witch: Specialize in Potionsmaking and Hexing, must draw magic from outside sources and rely on rituals, known for curses |Outliers, bad rep, known for summoning demons
Warlock: Must draw magic from grimoires for a variety of uses, known for curses (Miyano) |Also have a bad rep, also known for summoning demons
Wizard: Innate magic that's generally more passive and rarely offensive |Have pureblood lines but generally avoid drama. Still snobbish though. Keep to themselves
Mage: Innate Elemental magic, very clannish |Actually more inclusive when it comes to their own, generally hate Witches & Warlocks
Druid: Druidic magic, basically. Tend to be healers |Don't care about bloodlines, avoid drama at all costs
Thaumaturges: A classification unto themselves. Highly specialized with specific magic that is unique solely to them/their bloodlines (Cyn, Pell) |Elitist. Rare but all the more superior for it, in their opinion
Demons: An umbrella term for a variety of races including vampires and werewolves |Considering allowing Cyn's counterpart to be one if they choose to be a Master...
And that's the gist of that. But I'm open to questions/more thorough explanation of course~

Most normal students don't, but some may figure it out. I actually have one who will and is integral to the plot later...Normal students tend to be pawns/cannon fodder. There are no innocent bystanders. Except their poor families...In fact, the more ruthless 'players' will turn a few humans into Familiars just so they can use them as meat shields. Just like I said, brutal That's also a part of the plot that I want to convey~ Oh! And normal humans who become Familiars get a bit of magic too, usually offensive and more in the way of a superpower. Super strength and such.
No one knows what happens when you forfeit~ Everyone who tries is never heard from again
You can choose a normal student or a magical one...Hm, I might let people choose to have two characters and be both, actually.
Though students and even staff members die all the time, magical students outnumber the normal ones. On the subject of staff members: They're a mystery, just oblivious enough to be believable but sometimes it seems like they know what's going on. I might make a sympathetic teacher as well..

Haha, thanks! And I really love your idea~ Would add such great depth and deviousness to this ridiculous thing they have going on...And it's really clever! I can think of the perfect antagonist for that route...
For more expose' on my version of these creatures:
In this world, werewolves can't turn a human into one with a bite, and neither can vampires. I'm still mapping out my werewolf lore, but vampires have two ways of doing it. One, being the lowest level: Humans/Beings that a vampire regularly ahem snacks on can become a Thrall, in which case they're like a lesser version of vampires but don't need as much blood to survive & can eat normal food. Two, the highest level: I'm going with the whole ritual/you need to drink the vampire's blood shtick for this one. Not everyone can survive drinking vampire blood, however. If they do, they'll essentially become one but will usually still be somewhat inferior. Some can eat human food.
Pffft, who said it's ever going to end? I have plans for that too

Thanks again~ I've actually been planning out this world for an embarrassingly long time. Ahem
Of course! We could always use more suffering depth!
I thought there would have to be, considering vampires are literally a whole other species- They're cousins to incubi/succubi the way lions and tigers are cousins. Demons technically aren't invited to the Academy- Pellinor is a special case to be explained in the necessary backstory reveal- But there can be a Level Two vampire or werewolf who starts up a pack/Family.
Which ones? I plan myself in circles...But! Given that this is a survival kinda story wait, didn't I say romance?, I'd like to give hints but leave things mostly nebulous to give it that whole y'know. Atmosphere. If anyone has some plot ideas that they want to share, however, then I'll clue them in where necessary~ If you want, I'll also let you know when you raise a Death Flag~ For side characters. I don't plan on killing off anyone's character without permission!
To be honest, I just wanted an excuse to write an interactive story. Ahem

Oh! And werewolves have a pack while vampires have a Family because in this world they have that whole Godfather thing going on. Y'know, 'welcome to the family. I love you as long as you do my bidding' Basically all the main mafia famiglie all over the world? They're vampires and thralls. Aand they won't be explored too much in this story, unfortunately, but I'm considering another roleplay in the same universe where demons will be featured more prominently. And everyone can be a demon if they so choose. Here it's all about the magic-users, and I only mention demons as a reference point/bit of lore. Pellinor is here because he's not technichally a demon. (Spoiler) He actually ties in heavily with the main plot as well...And he's a new character whom I love and want to explore further
