My problem with Mapleshade's Vengeance is that no one supported her, not even cats outside her Clan. I felt like Darkstar should have at least sympathized with Mapleshade and let her grieve over her kits. I also felt like Mapleshade should have had some friends in ThunderClan to help support her like Yellowfang did in ShadowClan. Now, I know it wouldn't have made much of a difference - she would have been thrown out of ThunderClan whether she had support or not. But I wonder, if cats cared about her would she have turned on the Clans the way she did before Appledusk blamed her for everything? I feel like that's what made her snap the most, the fact that her own mate, the cat she looked up to the most for support, is what made her become the way she did. After that she began to reject cats who actually tried to help her (Myler) and she began to feel like she has "nothing left to life for". So I think if Mapleshade had cats who tried to support her before Appledusk rejected her, she might have been less aggressive. Maybe she'd have remained a good cat thinking that at least one cat cared for her. How do you think things would have turned out if she actually had more support?

I believe she wouldn't have turned if her kits never died. Regardless if she was accepted into another Clan or not, losing her kits was the main breaking point for her; adding Appledusk's rejection to further the wound. If her kits hadn't died, I think Mapleshade would have been fine.

Even if she was allowed to stay in RiverClan imagine how messed up the situation would be...staying in the same clan as your cheating ex that didn't care about your kits, lol.
On another note, it seems like she was close to her mentor at one point, and she did have an okay relationship with one of the apprentices? She and Freckle became close, but that was all built on fake crud, ugh. On the other hand maybe the reason she turned to an outside relationship was because she felt isolated in her clan, kinda like Dove and Tiger?

I mean we didn't even see any other relations to her in ThunderClan. No parents, no siblings, nothing. So it makes me wonder if she was alone in her Clan. Or just another example of family ties being left out.

Or just another example of family ties being left out. I felt like it could be possible she doesn't have any littermates left alive, and that her parents are both probably dead? Remember that this was during a time when River and Thunder were super high on tensions and cats as young as apprentices were losing their lives. There must have been a lot of feuding and death. It doesn't help that in the current first arc time, and even in the Crooked time, there was still fighting between the two clans. It was one of the major problems in the first few books, and became even worse when Leopardstar took charge. But it's not as significant now because at the lake they're too far away from one another lol. This also doesn't count other possibilities...like sickness and other animals, or other aggressive cats. Heck, catmint didn't become a better resource for the cats until after twolegs moved into skyclan territory...

I've always been curious about Mapleshade's parents. But they are likely dead. I just wish more stuff was explained into her Novella. No, she should have had a Super Edition, no questions asked. A novella isn't enough to learn about her history.

A novella isn't enough to learn about her history. She deserved an SE just from the sole fact that she was responsible for the biggest battle the Clans ever faced.

To put in a short answer: If Mapleshade had support, things would've been pretty much different. Like how Crookedstar would go through life with no ghost cat mentor or Spottedleaf still being in StarClan.

Mapleshade was good at DPS, but I agree that she needed a healer and a tank.

That's true, honestly how do you even make do when even a medicine cat, who's supposed to remain neutral, turns on you. And a clan leader, makes a decision that's so clouded he practically sentences a queen and her kits to death. Didn't help that mentor disowned her, and her former sister in law literally calls her kits "things" which is like the cat version of dehumanizing. It was...really messed up. But I guess that's why I didn't feel as bad for them when they suffered after she went insane, especially gross toms like Appledusk. I'm not saying what she did was justified, just like Holly killing Ashfur, but there are time when I look the other way ya know. And you're right, she did deserve an SE tbh. The Erins really didn't do her any justice at all, especially because she's such an amazing villain. It's kinda like how Darktail should have had an SE over Hawkwing tbh....but that's just my opinion in the matter.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not that anyone cares, but I'm currently rewriting Mapleshade's Vengeance and actually giving her a family and friends. Her mentor is Bloomheart, and her sister is Dawnfeather (Nettlepaw's mother). I named her parents Hazelheart (mother) and Rowanfur (father), who are pretty close and attentive of her. Birchface is her best friend, and while she isn't that close to Frecklewish in the beginning they work together and look out for each other.
I really wish the Erins had developed Mapleshade's story more, instead of making everyone immediately kick her to the curb. It seems so unrealistic that not a single character cares or has a problem with what happened. Everyone is so heartless for no reason! Like even Tigerstar who was an evil murderer cared about Bramblestar and was grateful that Firestar saved him from the fire, but supposedly all of these normal cats in ThunderClan give zero cares that Mapleshade is getting exiled and her kits just drowned? That makes no sense
