So, I have an idea for a set of Clans(about three or four, though that'll depend). Basically, these Clans are very new. Due to their newness, they only have one law within the Warrior code: "Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle." So, traditional things within the books do not occur, like the deputy doesn't become the leader once the leader dies. Kits can be apprenticed at younger than six moons. Etc.
So, without those rules, cats can basically do a lot of things without having to worry about breaking the code. Also, in addition, the cats would be newly out of living in a unstructured society, so they'll have to adjust.
Just so you know, the majority of the conflicts within this would probably be political, especially geopolitical. So it may not be very interesting to those who enjoy prophecies, powers, and wars than petty inter-Clan conflicts.
But I am stuck on deciding when it should be placed. I think right before the Clans start forming to get maximum enjoyment out of the idea, honestly. We'll be able to start plots that'll later affect the story once the Clan is made, and the cats should be quite agressive and angry with one another(after all, there must be some reason why they decide to make Clans).
If you're interested, please vote or comment! I can't promise claims on any roles, especially if I'm going to do the first option. I kinda want to make it a very open roleplay? Where nothing is really planned except for a few major events.

Oh, I also forgot to say that the leaders would not be good at all? Like, the cats of the forest had no idea what they wanted, so they just kinda followed the most prevalent cats, not caring about the very questionable parts of that cat's personality or beliefs.
Pros of each option: Right before the formation of the Clans start: Starting plots that could affect the second stage(unfinished conflicts in this stage could heavily affect the second), showing and not telling with the state of the cats before the Clan,
Right after the Clans form: Skipping right to the action(But having to tell about a bunch of details early on)
A while afterward the Clans form, when a broken system keeps on working: Really corrupt or incapable leaders, honestly. No plots from the first stage are present anymore, but the Clans are crumbling over their own weight.
