Louis was not. . .normal. He could see things that weren't actually there. He called them Shadows, because that was almost what they were: looking like smudged shadows against reality, pale, washed out versions of themselves. He would walk into school, and posters that hadn't been there for years were pinned to the cork boards, semi-transparent and dark. The lamp that he had broken when he was six still sat a shadowy image on his parent's bedside table. He knew what the Shadows were: memories. Memories of objects, ghosts of what they once were with enough memory and emotion in them that they still occupied the places they were no longer. He had learned to deal with this, but that was before It appeared outside his bedroom window; the shadowy cat with glowing green eyes.

Okay, that is so cool!!!! Do you mind if I do a second one? Bird, Movie, Echo That one is more random because I am watching tv. XD It's been following me. This golden bird with a blood-red chest. I saw it outside my house, when I took a walk down the street, at my girlfriend's. It sits outside my window in math, watching me with those beady eyes. It scares me now, this little bird. I've been seeing it for five years, and it hasn't changed, hasn't stopped following me. Everywhere I go, I can always spot that little golden bird with a red breast. Then my sister hit it with her car. That's when all my life started going wrong. |

Macy was in third grade. It wasn't as if anything could go wrong in third grade; she hardly knew what was going on in her life, let alone the bad things like her parents' increasing debt on their little zoo, and the fact that they were facing the choice of whether to sell off to a bigger company that's been eyeing their property for years. All Macy's ever known are the little critters her parents kept in that petting zoo: their twin donkeys Tina and Zila, the flock of sheep, the tortoises and birds saved from power lines and pollution and all sorts of other things. It was a quiet place, for the most part. Not many people came through the Macy's little zoo. That is, until they fatefully became the owners of the last monkey of his species. They called him Frisk, mostly for his uncanny ability to steal anything that comes too close to his little paws. The little monkey was a star, but would that be enough to keep their little zoo open? |
