Woops, sorry. I don't tend to be around much during my workdays, work tends to make me tired -w-
So, the idea I do have is that the ruined planet used to be a center of civilization for a long-gone precursor race, the decline of which has to do with the black hole.

OOC Nightfire, Gold, Percival de Rolo III.
I’ve got a layout for it now, so we’re really close to opening, if y’all are still interested?

Yep, still interested. Sorry for the lack of activity. I'm currently on my way home from a trip to see extended family over Christmas so I'll type up my planet idea and post it when I get home. I'm very excited to get this going! :3

OOC Awesome, and it’s okay, I get it. I was pretty busy the last few days as well.
I’ll finish the stuff that I gotta write up too, and then we can see what else is left.

OOC Also, I got the about finished, I described the roleplay as a group of aliens that make the crew of the ship the Galatta Manna (Or the Mantis, for short) and most of them are outlaws or rebels of some kind, basically its a ragtag group of outlaws or people that’ve found themselves somehow in trouble, and are sort of on the run, but also not, if that makes sense...they’re like, a level 2 threat for the most part, so people aren’t too concerned with them at first. Is that okay with everyone?

OOC We pretty much need the rest of the locations, and the banner that I’m gonna make, before we can open it up.
...And a title, we will also need a title.

OOC Hi Night!
So as far as titles go, I was thinking something like “The Mantis” since that’s the ship they’re on, or maybe “Waste of Space” because it’s both a pun, and kind of what this group is, but I’m totally open to suggestions.

Alright, so we just need those extra locations and then I think we’re good to go.

OOC Yeah, no humans.
Gold and Percy have the last few locations, I’m thinking of just opening it tonight and we can add in the extra locations as they’re made. I’m half way done with my characters right now, anyways, and so, yeah.

Sweet! Just finished up my final location. It has some pretty crazy ideas and maybe screams "subplot" a little too hard, so fair warning for that.Lyrica:A lush world covered in damp jungles filled with giant fungi, the world’s beauty and fantastic variety of organisms conceal a darker secret- the entire world is ground zero for a microbial organism that infects and controls every creature on the planet by assimilating them into a collective consciousness. This organism calls itself "Lyrica" in the belief that it is the planet and works to direct the evolution of every plant and animal to ensure everything has its proper place and make sure that the natural environment remains undisturbed. In fear of this organism, the planet and the surrounding stellar bodies have been declared a quarantine zone by every major galactic power despite the extreme abundance of rare metals, minerals, and gems. Anyone visiting the planet must take care not to inhale the spores floating in the air, or the organism will infect them as well and they will be drawn into the hive mind. They must also take care not to disturb the natural landscape, or they will draw the ire of the entire planet down upon them. I'll get to work on my characters now. :D

I will start writing up my things later. In the meantime, I totally forgot to mention the tendency of Icarians to commit random acts of piracy |D
Individual Icarian ships in their massive fleet are individually owned by powerful-enough families and clans, so the crews of each ship tend to consist of distantly-extended families and those that have sworn allegiance to them, and each ship has an economy that functions differently from most others, such as the production of one resource, or a family trade they loan out. Some Icarian clans, instead, have their economies revolve around pillaging, looting, and subjugation, and are far more likely to wander away from the Nomad Fleet and engage in interstellar piracy against neighbors for fun and profit. Those familiar with the Icarians are able to quickly identify if a ship away from the Nomad Fleet is a raiding vessel on the prowl due to the hull's coloration and clan insignia, but those that aren't tend to be reasonably terrified as well. Likewise, Icarian marines are one of the most efficient and deadliest spaceborne militaries in the galaxy as well as intimidating with their signature down-turned beak helmets. The presence of an Icarian marine is a massive wild card, as the individual marine's armor is much harder to identify as belonging to a particular clan or another.

Varena
A planet infamous for being a dangerous xenoarchaeological hotspot, Varena is known for containing ancient, advanced structures that were already old by the time some of the races began walking upright as well as being incredibly hostile to visitors. The planet was once known to be a core world of an ancient precursor race colloquially known as the Tarachii, of which little is currently known besides that they were likely to be up to 9 feet tall, possibly telepaths, and still technologically far ahead of anyone else in the galaxy. This is due to the fact that there are both no living or dead examples of the race found anywhere, and that the race appeared to have abandoned physical language and record-keeping, forcing current xenoarcheologists and -anthropologists to decrypt their recorded radiowave-like telepathic utterances agonizingly slowly. Varena is also home to a security system that appears to have sustained some sort of damage. Upon landing, a ship will be bombarded with unintelligible, yet harmless radiowaves. After thirty minutes, intruders will begin to find themselves being stalked by ancient, lithe drones. After an hour, they will start to find themselves coming under assault from increasingly large amounts of hostile defense robots, traps, and guardians composed some sort of flexible yet impossibly rigid living metal. The actions of the defense emplacements vary per intruder, for some reason. The drones may turn deadly almost immediately, swarming and tearing apart intruders and the invading spacecraft with the fierceness and voracity of wild animals. Occasionally, they may be more passive, making people quietly disappear to be found heavily wounded or dead later, or intelligently blocking off all avenues into the Verana's cities except those that return to the visiting spacecraft. Sometimes, they are exceptionally slow to react to any presence and visitors may even get a day or two to study and scrounge around. There, however, has been no recorded instances were there was not a response by the planet's ancient defenses, and everyone must leave eventually or perish.
Licterin's Eye This black hole would be otherwise insignificant (as far as black holes go) if it weren't for the fact that word of it appears in the legends of almost every sentient race, connected to a mythological figure that is typically known as an unusual outsider or impactful visitor, as well as its proximity to the planet Varena. The common name, 'Licterin's Eye', comes from the Bik name for it, as every race has their own version, such as the Eye of Golgitha, the Soul of Temberarn, ect. Translated Tarachii telepathics tentatively point to the Eye as incredibly significant to the race's history, most likely its downfall during the black hole's formation. Indeed, there is still plenty of debris constantly being consumed by the Eye in a slow, decaying orbit, though visiting this debris is incredibly dangerous due to the proximity of the black hole -- besides the fact that it is notoriously difficult to escape its pull, the incredibly strong radioactive emissions it creates pushes modern shielding to its limits.
