Preregistration book keeping
If you're interested but want to wait until the main page is up, please give me a friendly tag saying so. It'll help me get a number on how pairings will work. However if you know for certain (or fairly certain) that you'll be participating I'd encourage you to start filling out the form now (it doesn't have to be complete until the page is up) so I can better work out matches. If you don't know if you'd rather be an apprentice or a mentor (or both), or just don't know if you're ready to mentor, feel free to send me a few samples over pm and I (along with a panel, depending) will read it over and give some advice on a suitable course of action based on your skills.
There's even a form for the 'study group' peer review beta thingy (see: my second post) if you're interested in that.
MENTORS:
Tag yourself
Give us a short bio and/or introduction of anything interesting you'd want to share + your preferred knicknames. Like 1-3 lines.
Top two/three strong suits: ie character building, grammar, plot arcs ect.
Weak spot: (points you wouldn't be strongest mentoring if that's the only flaw in the apprentices writing. If any apply.)
Time zone and time you can commit per week on average:
Experience writing: years writing + subjects (humans, cats, fanfiction, novels ect) as well as the genre you write in most (romance, fantasy, realistic fiction ect)
Experience mentoring?: no or yes(explain)
Other details you want me and/or the apprentice to know about you:
ATTACH SAMPLES in a spoiler tag and/or link to works (on site preferably). A few samples (2-3) with variance in POV/style/tense ect is best.
APPRENTICES

Strong suits: ie character building, grammar, plot arcs ect.
Things you feel you're good at.
Weak spots: These are the things you'll be working on with your mentors. Be as specific as possible!

Other details you want me and/or the mentors to know about you:
ATTACH SAMPLES in a spoiler tag and/or link to works (on site preferably). I'd like two samples: your favorite thing you've written and the most recent thing you've written.
PEER GROUPS (if you already filled out a mentor/apprentice form, just say you're also interested in joining a peer group at the top it's the same form)

Yo so there's a lot of new faces around here lately and that's actually pretty awesome since there hasn't been a huge wave of new writers since this forum started a year ago.
All you oldies probably remember how these worked. Some of you may have been a part of one before, either as apprentices, mentors or both over the years.
It's not only to help new writers improve upon their skills and mature as writers of their own--although of course that's an important goal-- but to also help them join with the community and show them support along the way.
I know I wouldn't be here today if Skyfall and Sweets hadn't taken me under their wing and given me advice through Rea's writing school back in 2013. Even today I remember Sky's constant scolding of my horrible run on sentences (which, hopefully, I'm more discreet about) and Sweets' not-so-subtle hints that my characters were flatter than pancakes and my plots had more holes than swiss cheese (I like to think I'm more bagel-like now).
Point being that it's a great opportunity to grow both as a new writer and as an old (because making lessons really does make you reflect on all the times you don't follow your own advice, face it) while also making a few friends and growing the community.
Interested?
