Here is where MoonClan: Cats under the Winter Moon will be planned out. Help in planning is accepted, and the RP will be open to all for joining. Below you'll find what MoonClan is to be about.
History:
The legend of MoonClan’s story tells of a she-cat who’s pelt seemed whiter than the snow. Her name was Moon. Long ago as the story says, she was separated from her mother and littermates, when they were traveling over the territory after having escaped their twolegs’ nest that stood somewhere in the mountains. A blizzard blew in and split their paths apart, which some say was StarClan’s will. What happened to her mother and littermates is unknown, but Moon grew to adapt to the environment of the harsh, forever Leaf-Bare. Her dark brown tabby pelt didn’t aid in hunting to survive but she managed, hunting only for herself, and using techniques she taught herself to defend against enemies. Until one day, she’d come face to face with a lynx and was attacked. There was no one else around to help her and she was near death. As she lied there in the snow, waiting for death to take her, she began hearing voices. The voices told her, “Go to the mountain”, “Climb the mountain”. At first she ignored the voices, but when they intensified she decided to listen to them, and with that strength she had she picked herself up and journeyed to the mountain within the territory. It was a long trek, but the voices kept speaking and she kept going, feeling they were giving her strength to continue. She reached a pool of water that had steam rising from its surface, and the voices told her, “Step into the water, drink the water”. At first Moon hesitated, but again the voices intensified in her ears and again she listened to them, approaching the pool slowly. At first she lapped at the hot water, and then stepped into it until all but her head was covered, and her injuries from the attack seemed to heal rapidly and she gained her full strength back. But the voices didn’t stop there, they continued, saying, “Find the path, find us”. Moon waded back to the shore of the pool and shook her pelt, looking around for what she was supposed to find. And she challenged the voices, asking, “What path? What am I supposed to find?”. But the voices remained unclear and kept repeating themselves, telling her to find the path and find them. Soon she discovered a small tunnel path that led into the mountain, the voices sounded louder when she got close to the entrance, and after thinking over the consequences she went inside. When she came to the end of the path, she found herself in a large cavern, with a single crystal stone as big as a bear in the center. The crystal seemed to glow and the voices continued speaking, telling her, “touch your nose to it”. She did as she was told and touched it with her nose. Not knowing what would happen, everything became black as the she-cat passed out, and soon she woke up in a strange place. It was a forest of trees and grass, and stars shown brighter than ever before in the sky. Moon had never seen such a place, and wasn’t sure how she got there. “Where am I?”, she asked herself, pushing to her paws and taking in the sights. “You’re in StarClan”, a voice answered her from behind. Moon didn’t recognize the voice as one she knew, and she turned around to see who it was, only to see it was another she-cat. But this she-cat was different, her pelt sparkled and carried stars in it. “StarClan? What is StarClan?”, Moon asked the starry she-cat. “StarClan is the place of passed ancestors, of the ones that call themselves Warriors. StarClan has called upon you for a reason, Moon. We have been expecting your arrival”, Moon was told, and as the starry she-cat spoke, more cats appeared behind her, only their features were less distinct and more ghost-like. “Me? What for?”, Moon asked, looking around at the other cats. “You have been chosen. We’ve been watching you since the beginning, and you have shown us that a cat can survive in a harsh territory, and we want you to be a Clan Leader”, the starry she-cat told. Moon had thought she was dreaming, that she was hallucinating in her state of dying, anything that seemed more logical than the truth in front of her. But what she was seeing was real, for no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t seem to wake up from such a thing. She became surrounded by the other star-pelted cats, the feeling of warmth following. “If you accept, then you will be named Moonstar from this moment forward. You will be given nine lives to live for your Clan, with each life a different gift that will guide you. And we will become your ancestors”, the starry she-cat spoke. But Moon didn’t know her answer; becoming a leader sounded too complicated, she wasn’t used to caring for others, and only her own company. “I…I don’t know my answer”, Moon admitted to the StarClan cats. But the starry she-cat nodded in response, and said, “Fine. We will give you three days to decide. And when those three days are up, come back to us before moonhigh”, Moon was told. Before she could say more, the star-pelted cats began to disappear, and she felt cold again. Her surroundings faded to black, and soon she found herself at the base of the crystal stone, in the cavern. Three days. That was all she had to make up her mind, and in three days time she will tell them her answer.
Her three days went back swiftly, it seemed she couldn’t stop pondering what was a better life; be alone until the end, or lead a Clan and be surrounded by other cats. The thought had her mind running in circles. Finally on the third day, just after sundown, she journeyed back up the mountain, to meet StarClan once again. She touched her nose to the stone and found herself back where she was three days before, and the same starry she-cat approached her. “Do you have your answer for us?”, Moon was asked, and she gave a nod. It was now or never, the decision would either change her life for good, or not at all. “I do”, Moon said, “And I accept”. Again she was surrounded by many other star-pelted cats and the warm feeling from them returned. “Then from this point on, you will be named Moonstar, and shall be given nine lives to lead your Clan with”, the starry she-cat spoke, and as if on command, Moon’s pelt turned white, whiter than the snow, and grew long to protect her from blizzard winds. It was StarClan’s will, so that she may hunt for her Clan and hide better in the snow. “For your first life, I give you the power of Mind and Will, to help you decide quickly what is best for your Clan willingly”, the starry she-cat spoke again, touching noses with Moonstar to give her her first life, and Moonstar felt a twinge jolt her body. Once she recovered, another cat approached. “With this life, I give you Courage, so that you may lead your Clan bravely in the face of danger”, the cat touched noses with Moonstar and another twinge wracked her muscles. A third approached, “I give you Love, so that you may be compassionate to all, even enemies”. A fourth, “This life will give you Humility, so that you may know when to admit you are wrong and not feel shame for it”. A fifth, “With this life, I give you Honesty. Never lie to your Clan, unless you absolutely must to protect them”. The sixth cat approached, “I give you Loyalty, to always stand by your Clan’s side and know what is right”. A seventh, “I will give you a life with Empathy, to be able to understand those around you on all levels of mind and body”. An eighth, “I give you Mentoring, to allow you to teach your Clan your ways and the ways of StarClan”. And finally, the ninth, however three cats approached this time, and Moonstar recognized them immediately as her mother and brothers. It had been many moons since Moonstar last saw them, and she felt whole again knowing they were still there. “With this life, we give you Wisdom”, her mother spoke. “Nobility and Righteousness”, one brother added. “And Trust”, her other brother said. “To lead your Clan with the wise knowledge of a thousand Elders, to judge your Clanmates fairly with justice, and so you may trust your Clan so that they can trust you”, all three said, and they each touched their noses to Moonstar simultaneously, giving her the ninth life. Soon, the cats around her cheered her new name, “Moonstar! Moonstar! Moonstar!”, and the new leader was sent back to reality.
Soon enough, other cats began coming to the territory, their only reason being the same words, “they told me to, they called me here”, and each time Moonstar asked who, she was answered with, “I do not know”. She trained each cat, gave them special names, and took them to meet StarClan so that their pelts may change and to learn the Warrior Code, to believe in StarClan. The Clan was named MoonClan after its leader, the home of the crystal was named Moon Mountain, and the crystal itself was named the Moonstone. The Clan flourished, gaining more and more members, hunting enough prey to suffice their hunger, and soon gifted with its first litter of kits.
Moons later, Moonstar was visited in a dream by her ancestors, and they spoke with her about what was coming. “Change is coming. The moon will turn blue and the snow will disappear, and the will of the Clan shall be tested. You will either succeed, or perish”, and the first Prophecy of StarClan had been given. Moonstar returned with the news and announced it to her Clan. They waited for the time of change. And when that time came, it was as StarClan had predicted, the moon turned blue and the snow melted away. The Clan found ways to adapt to a change of environment, and succeeded. The change came to be known as the Blue Moon (see Special Events), and became a test of Willpower for MoonClan in the many moons to come, occurring every 180 moons.
Soon, Moonstar passed on, leaving behind her leadership and memory to her kits, mate, and the Clan. A new leader was chosen by StarClan, and they received nine lives including one from Moonstar, the life of Perseverance, the ability to keep going and carry on the Clan’s legacy. This new leader was her oldest son, Frostwind, later named Froststar. Froststar went on and became a great leader, passing his knowledge and wisdom to the Clan, and leading them to success just as Moonstar had.
But that is another story.
Territory (NOW WITH PICTURE PREVIEW!):
Our territory spans over a vast desert of snow, with a few trees here and there. In the Northern part of our territory stands a great big mountain we've come to call Moon Mountain. On this mountain is a place known as Healing Springs, a pool of water heated by the underground and withholds magical healing abilities. Also located on Moon Mountain is Crystal Cave, where our Clan goes to meet with StarClan, which inside lays one big crystal in the middle of the cave. At the base of Moon Mountain is our Camp, surrounded by a small rock wall and closed off with a tunnel of ice and snow as the entrance. Each den within the camp is dug as a barrow and reinforced with ice over top to ensure they don't cave in. The leader has a place on the rock wall where they address the Clan. Just outside the camp is a pond we use for drinking, which flows from the Lake of Stars, a lake where the surface is so still and clear it reflects every star our eyes can see. We believe there is something mystic about the Lake of Stars, but there isn't anything to say for sure. Each night a banner of lights dance across the sky above the Lake of Stars, and we call these lights Star Dancers, for we believe it is made up of the souls of our ancestors. Our hunting grounds our located throughout the territory, near Drinking Pond, South of Healing Springs near the base of Moon Mountain, and then on the far North side of Moon Mountain. We hunt snow hare, mice, and various birds here. Be vigilant though, as peaceful as our territory may seem, it still has its dangers. Avoid eagles, snowy owls, bobcats and snow leopards (although VERY rare), for they are a force to be reckoned with.
PICTURE PREVIEW:
Special Events:
There isn't much to see in a barren land of ice and snow, but there are occasional rare events that occur here. One of the most notable being the Blue Moon. The Blue Moon occurs at least every 180 moons (15 years) in GreenLeaf, and at each Blue Moon occurrence, the snow melts away completely to reveal lush green lands and life that lasts for the whole season until LeafFall arrives which brings more snow for the next 180 moons. As the snow melts, our pelts change to better adjust to the surroundings of the land. This has long been a promise from StarClan as a sign of the Clan flourishing until the next Blue Moon. However, should there be a time when the Blue Moon does not occur when it should, it will mean an Omen to the Clan that there will be perishing and despair, as also promised by StarClan, if the Clan goes out of the way of the Warrior Code and breaks the declaration between the Ancestors and the Clan's first leader that founded the land and brought it together. This is why the Clan chooses it's leaders and deputies wisely, to assure that they will not be led down the wrong path that would bring forth StarClan's Omen.
Allegiances:
Leader: Lynxstar- A linth but firmly built white she-cat with fur tufts on the tips of her ears and semi-long cheek fur, resembling a lynx, and a long tail. Her pelt is long enough to protect her from the harsh winds of the snowy terrain, and her eyes are a blue that is almost colder than ice. On the right side of her face are two scars that stretch over her eye from a fight she had with a bobcat in her Warrior days, while protecting two kits that had strayed too far from the camp. Her white pelt helps her blend in with the snow. She is a kind soul, but do not let it fool you for she is fierce and defends her Clan with her life. Currently 9/9 lives left.
Deputy: Iceblossom - She is a slightly small long-haired silver tabby with blue eyes. Though she is naturally friendly and compassionate, she is willing to set that aside if necessary to help her Clan. She is tough on apprentices, especially those who get themselves into unnecessary trouble, but when they succeed she is happy to praise them.
Medicine Cat: Ivytail- An average-sized, thick-furred she-cat. Her paws are small, but her tail is a bit longer than the average cat's. She is a gray tabby with white paws, and her eyes are a mysterious green. She is a very kind and compassionate she-cat, one of those cats who are kind whatever they do. She could be described as an optimist, always doing everything she can to help her Clanmates in any way she can. She wants to protect those around her, as the medicine cat. She loves her job and wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world.
Medicine Cat Apprentice: ---
Warriors:
Bearstrike- A silver tabby tom with slightly darker stripes than the base color of his fur. He has a white belly and chest, yellow eyes and part of his left ear missing from a past battle as well as an old scar on his flank from a hunting assessment gone wrong where he wandered across the path of a fox and it reacted before his mentor could reach him. He's gruff and blunt, but the tough exterior hides his generally caring nature.
Apprentices: ---
Queens: ---
Elders: ---
Prey:
Mice and other various rodents, small birds, and snow hare.
Enemies:
Foxes, Snow Leopards, Snowy Owls, Wolves, Eagles, occasionally Bears (rare), Bobcats, and Lynx.
Past Leaders:
Moonstar (dead)- A linth she-cat that began as a kit born into a kittypet life, and lived as a loner when she was separated from her mother and littermates. Her pelt was a shade of many browns and tans with tabby markings, and deep blue eyes. During her leader ceremony with StarClan, her pelt turned white and grew in length to protect her from the harsh winds of the forever Leaf-Bare, and she looked almost like a miniature lynx. She served her Clan well and led them with great honor, by the will of StarClan, using the gifts of her nine lives wisely. The first leader of MoonClan. Former name was Moon. She is a direct ancestor of the current leader, Lynxstar.
Froststar (dead)- A tom with a thin-build and silvery-white pelt, and teal eyes. Took over as leader after his mother, Moonstar, carrying on her legacy and leading the Clan as well as she did, serving it well like her. Saved the Clan from two snow leopards, losing a life in the process. Former name was Frostwind. He is a direct ancestor of the current leader, Lynxstar.
Flurrystar (dead)- A tom with strong, powerful shoulders, a grey pelt, and ivy-green eyes. He was a close friend of Froststar and was trusted to become leader after Froststar passed. He had a rather upbeat and hyper personality, seeming almost carefree, but he put the Clan first. Named the Clan’s first Medicine Cat. Former name was Flurryclaw.
Ravenstar (dead)- A slim beautiful she-cat with amber-yellow eyes and a bluish pelt. Formerly named as Bluepool, StarClan had given her a sign in the form of a raven feather she had found while hunting, and she knew she would be the next leader. Both Flurrystar and the Clan deputy succumbed to Greencough, leaving the Clan without a determined leader, and Ravenstar journeyed up Moon Mountain herself to claim her nine lives, having been accepted by the Clan. Is the granddaughter of Froststar, and a direct ancestor of Lynxstar.
Windstar (dead)- Average build she-cat with a white pelt and sunset-golden eyes. Daughter of Ravenstar, she challenged the Clan’s deputy, who had bad intentions and loathed Ravenstar as a leader, and she fulfilled StarClan’s Prophecy of “The song of the wind will blow away the Raven’s shadow”. She and a few others, including Ravenstar, chased out the deputy, who then returned to exact his revenge on Ravenstar and took her last life, being vanquished by Warriors of MoonClan and leaving Windstar as leader. Former name was Windsong. Great grandmother of Lynxstar.
Snowstar (dead): A large tom with a slim body and long legs, white pelt, and ice blue eyes. Son of Windstar, he took over as leader after Windstar passed. Saved the Clan from a severe blizzard by leading them to a cave deep inside the base of Moon Mountain where they stayed safe and kept warm. Lost his last two lives to a snow leopard. Former name was Snowstorm, and father of Lynxstar.
Allied Clans:
Currently none but open to offers. Allied Clans must live in fairly the same climate as MoonClan, cannot live on a sunny beach or a forest with no snow.
Rules (there are a lot but please do not let that discourage you, this is only to keep order):
1) NO KIT STEALING! (Don't touch our kits)
2) NO RAIDING THE CLAN WITHOUT MY OK.
3) DON'T KILL ANYONE'S CHARRIE WITHOUT THEIR OK.
4) NO GODMODDING!(No superpowers (cats having visions from StarClan is fine but must have approval from me), surviving an impossible-to-survive situation, etc!)
5) Follow the Warrior Code!
6) NO CURSING!(Mouse brain, mouse dung, fox dung are the only ones acceptable unless you’re speaking out of character)
7) NO SPAMMING! We don't want the RP to be littered with links. However we'll excuse it if you are:
-A member of this RP
-Asking someone to come to a different RP
8) If your charrie is THINKING, italicize it in quotations!
Ex: “I wonder what I'll have for lunch”, Blankpaw thought
9) You MUST be active at least once a week. If you are inactive for a period of three weeks you will be deleted unless you have notified me otherwise. I have a consideration of extenuating circumstances which include but are not limited to:
-School
-Personal reasons
10) A QUEEN CAN HAVE UP TO 2 LITTERS AND 4 KITS PER LITTER! (Population control. We don't need 100+ cats)
11) CATS DON'T LIVE FOREVER! (This should be common sense)
12) NO REINCARNATIONS WITHOUT WINTER'S APPROVAL! (I’ll PM you asking your reasons why, and only when you’ve answered me will I make my decision.)
13) Don't get graphic with mating!(It's gross and there are children on this site.)
14) Don't get too graphic with death scenes.(Again there are children and squeamish people on this site. Please be courteous. Blood is fine, but nothing too gory please.)
15) In litters of three or four kits, at least one of the kits can't have a mate.
16) No autohits. (Some attacks have to miss their targets)
17) No autododges (Some attacks have to hit your character)
18) Please keep characters pelt/eye colors realistic! I don't need cats with funky colors running around.
19) Don't spotlight!
20) No hit-and-runs! (Don't just join and never come back. You need to make a commitment to this Clan to have the privilege of being a medicine cat/med cat apprentice/deputy and to make a prophecy)
21) These next few rules regard the deceased. You CAN join as StarClan/Dark Forest but you MUST have AT LEAST one cat alive in the Clan.
22) StarClan cats can ONLY contact cats through dreams/Crystal Cave on Moon Mountain
24) Dark Forest cats can ONLY contact cats through dreams.
25) No Mary Sues/Gary Stus. (No one is perfectly perfect in every way. Plus they are a pain in the behind to have around)
26) You MUST join with AT LEAST two characters! (one tom and one she-cat is preferable)
Prophecy:
StarClan is silent.
To join now with an official character that will be added to the actual thread of the Clan's page, please just give a short description of your character. Describe their gender, pelt, eyes, maybe a bit of history, anything extra you want like scars or a disability, and etc. Please note that all name types are accepted, but your character's pelt MUST be of white, silver, grey, or blue colorings, as we are winter cats that live in an Arctic/Alaskan setting, so any dark pelted cats such as orange, brown, or black would not do well at all since it'd be harder for them to camouflage with their surroundings (the only exception would be Blue Moon- see Special Events). I will add them once you have done so. Medicine Cat Apprentice is still open, but all other important ranks have been taken and will not be given to anyone else unless those that have claimed them say otherwise and give up the rank to someone else of their or my choosing.
