MosspeltHe moved to sit closer to her, kneading his paws against the floor of the den. "Can I do anything to help make the wait more comfortable? I can ask an apprentice to get more moss for the den." Mosspelt shook her head "honestly I am fine. Just a little discomfort." she said as she shifted her paw "Ive been through worse than this." she lied. To be honest she was a younger warrior and the only battle she had seen was when she was an apprentice. Life at Braveclan had been mostly quiet for several moons before the fire started. |

A tear trickled from her eyes before she could catch it and blink it away, she looked down. All too aware of the kit which was missing at her belly in that moment, she didn't say anything for a moment before she decided what to say next. "You can say that again," she said quietly. Willowbreeze could have kicked herself for that comment totally forgetting for a moment to be careful around the queen. (Sure! here is where we left off) |

"Well you have at least an ounce of common sense then." He muttered as he crossed the camp and ducked into the den. He glanced at Elkflight. "Go let Froststar know what's happened. I'm sure he'll be upset enough that he wasn't informed right away." Then he flicked his tail for Dewpaw to follow him as he went up to Mosspelt. "What happened?"

The Elder stood up as the Medicine Cat walked in. "Sure thing." He cast a sympathetic glance at Mosspelt and slipped out the den. Blinking in the light, he paused looking around for the leader.

Dewpaw mentally thanked the elder for offering to watch her. If not he might have actually left her alone. Following his mentor over her gave ths she-cat a confident smile and waited for her to reply.

Mosspelt took a deep breath. And looked at the moss wrapped paw. "There was a fire in my camp. I woke up and it was already everywhere. I tried to get some other cats out but the fire had already consumed the rest of the camp. I thought i must be the last one out but when i finally got clear of the fire, nobody else was around i searched for the whole night but couldnt find anyone. I can only assume that all my clanmates are...." She couldnt bring herself to say the words even though she knew there was no hope of survival.

The Medicine Cat leaned down and started looking at the cat's injury. "You must have traveled quite some distance. We haven't seen any smoke in the sky." The injury was older, but not healing very well. "Dewpaw,burns are treated differently than what you're used to. We'll make a poultice of comfrey root to keep it dry and let it heal, and if we add catchweed to it, it won't irritate the skin." He turned to his apprentice. "Want to get started on it?"

"Yes!" he meowed enthusiastically, padding to the herbs storage and pulling out the herbs they would need. He felt much more confident in his element. After pulling out all the herbs he brought them over closer to the she cat and his mentor. From the pile his mentor had he grabbed the catchweed.

The Medicine Cat nodded. "Good. Go ahead and start chewing them into a pulp." Not waiting for his apprentice to start, he moved over to the cat and grabbed a piece of wet moss, setting it in front of her. "You're probably thirsty, this will help." He moved to grab something and paused, turning to Dewpaw. "What should I give her if she's in pain?"

He finished chewing it into a pulp and said "You can use dandelions leaves as pain killers... or poppy seeds, or willow bark." he went over just a few of the herbs that could be used to remedy pain.

Mosspelt lapped up the water from the moss thankfully and let the two cats get to work.
(briarfur is it okay if Willowbreeze has her kits tonight after you are finished treating Mosspelt. She is just expecting two)

Webtail nodded. "In this case, considering how tired she looks, we'll give her poppy seeds to help her sleep as well as to help with the pain. But we will wait until after she meets with Froststar." He looked over the poultice that Dewpaw had made and flicked his ear in approval. "Put that on the burns, gently but make sure it covers it all."

He was silent as he looked over the work carefully. Webtail had never been considered the "nicest" cat around, but he did his work right and he was fair. "Looks good." He finally said, straightening up. "Now she needs to rest for a while." He turned to Mosspelt. "I'm sure the journey you've been through has put a greater toll on you than you think."

Puddlestep was resting in her nest, looking somewhat nervous. Though that was nothing new. She had just eaten some food and was tired. But the happenings from earlier that moon were still weighing on her mind. Taking a breath she tried to relax.

Puddlesteps head snapped towards the other queen "Are you alright? Do you need some water?" she was a busy body, and a nervous one at that. It made her useful to have around, but sometimes she was simply too nervous for her own good.

Willowbreeze shook her head "no i am fine. Its just the kits moving." she purred in amusement at the other queen's worry. As she tried to lay down again she felt a wave of pain shoot down her back causing her to collapse into her nest and hiss in pain.
