Introduction
You open your eyes, and your vision is dark and blurry. You remember a black cat rushing at you, her claws sliding out, stained with red. Before you could blink, she was on you, and you were out like a light. As you try to remember what happened, a small ginger paw taps you on the nose. "I think he/she's awake." the squeaky voice meows. A new face comes out of nowhere and sniffs you. After blinking a few times, your vision comes to you, and you see two small kits examining you. "Where am I?" you ask them, your voice light so you don't scare them. "ShadeClan medicine cat den!" the ginger one meowed. "Ravenstar said to spare you! It's an honor to be kept alive by her!" the other one, a tortoiseshell, squeaks, bowing down to you. "Well, where is this Ravenstar?" you ask. "She said she's busy, but you can join ShadeClan if you want! If not, she says she has to do something." the ginger one mews. "Ah, ShadeClan you say... sounds nice..."

History
Once, not long ago, a group of cats all lived together in this one spot where there was a large tree above a wide-mouthed cave. They lived in this cave for many moons, and things worked out well for them. Then, one day, four strange new cats came to the tree. Each of the four cats wanted to take their own group of cats to a new home, where they promised they would all thrive. All of the cave-dwelling cats agreed to choose their ways. Some went with Frosty, others with Shade, another group with Pebble, and the remaining cats with Cloud. One cat, who was one of the darkest and most dangerous cats, began to lead Shade’s group. He decided that since Shade helped his group find a great new home, he would name his clan ShadeClan, in honor of Shade and the clan's shady home and lifestyle. Frosty took her cats to the mountains, and they climbed the nearest mountain, where they made camp. Frosty decided to assume leadership of this group and make it his own clan. He named the clan after himself, as he thought he deserved this honor. Cloud took the cats to another territory, west of FrostyClan. One of the cats decided to name the new clan AirClan, since many of them were proficient at leaping into the air. The last group of cats followed Pebble. Pebble was a small cat, but with his silent authority he became their leader. Not many cats went with his group, but Pebble made them strong. He named the group of cats EarthClan, after their new woodland territory where he was born and raised as a loner. Each Clan promised to continue being friendly, so each clan could enjoy their homes in peace. Not many moons later, some of the young warriors discovered that the four cats who separated them into clans were siblings and that they despised each other due to a feud that had sparked when they were very young cats. The four cats eventually turned the clans against each other, unable to forget their feud. Pebblestar and Frostystar joined forces to kill Shade and Cloudstar, then decided to finally make a truce. Peace had still not been reached, though, because soon Frostystar was ambushed and killed by a ShadeClan cat. Pebblestar was the only sibling left alive, and no one dared hurt him. However, he had to live with the fact that all of his siblings were dead, and this weakened his mind later in his life. ShadeClan's leader began having dreams about a place with a pure black sky, where it was eternally night. He began going there every sunset, listening to the unknown cats’ whispers. He started leading ShadeClan as the dark cats commanded him, and he grew darker and more corrupt. FrostyClan tried to intervene, reminding ShadeClan to be friendly cats with good values, but the clan was on a downward spiral toward evil. The other Clans allied in protest, but ShadeClan found a way to ward the attacks off. EarthClan tries to keep away from the squabbles between clans, but FrostyClan and AirClan are always battling each other or ShadeClan. It hasn't been very long since the clans were made; every clan is on their third leader, and they are all at their first life.
About the Clan
Ravenstar here. ShadeClan is an evil Clan, we admit that. We show no mercy and we follow the words of BrokenClan. We are not afraid to start wars when cats provoke us, and we are the most strict Clan. We hunt and work in the dark, our Clan is in eternal night. We hate going to the other Clans, it is always too sunny. We lurk in the shadows and hunt any prey we can. If you show disloyalty, you have one chance to prove yourself worthy. Our Clan is large and strong. Our first leader was Moonstar. He showed strength and wisdom, and he met BrokenClan and made a connection with their leader, Broken Shadow. The second leader was Thornstar. She proved herself to be loyal many times and she was one of ShadeClan's best cats. Next was Midnightstar. He was one of the darkest cats and made ShadeClan truly strong and the way we are now. He died last moon by Green Cough. He was said to have the worst death, but he had the best leadership. And then comes I, Ravenstar. I plan to lead my Clan well, and I still follow the words of BrokenClan. We make ourselves strong so the other clans fear us.
Rules
1. Follow all forum rules. This is easy. Just follow the rules that you have to follow anyways. Why would you change your thoughts when you join this roleplay?
2. No mary-sues or gary-stus. Do not make your character the best. No -ests. You're character is not the 'fastest' or the 'strongest.' Unless you're saying "She's not the strongest, but she's agile." That's okay. I ask if you have 2 strengths, give your character 2 weaknesses. Just make sure your character's strengths and weaknesses are equal. Your cat cannot be very strong, very fast, an amazing hunter, everyone's their friend, just, no. Also, don't make your character the worst at everything so they get lots of attention. I should stop, this is the next rule.
3. No ___. The reason I made this blank is because there's a bunch of stuff I am going to be saying here. Don't make yourself the center of attention. Next, no god-modding or anything like that. Your character cannot make a fox run in one hit, or kill a badger in one swipe. No mind reading, either. People will post their character's thoughts, but you don't know their thinking that. Don't reply to their thoughts. No kit___ing. You will be ignored if you do anything like that. No powers, either. Unless we have discussed some sort of plot, your character has no powers, or anything super special. Don't control other characters. That's just... Unless you have permission and you are a high-rank alt (explained in activity) you may not roleplay another's characters. First word of the code Survive.
4. Activity. Try to post a minimum of three times a week, if you are not a high rank. High ranks, I suggest posting at least five days a week, if not more. Don't come on for an hour and then never come back. But posting a minimum of three times or six days of the week, I mean don't come on, say one thing, and leave. You have to do something useful, like have a conversation or something. After two weeks of inactivity, we will remove your character. Also, if you are going somewhere and you probably won't post for awhile, please say. We will mark your character as 'Away.' Also, in times like this, or if a high rank is needed badly but they are asleep or something, we will have alts. Make sure you have other characters, too, as you will not be using these unless it's an emergency.
5. Respect. I cannot stress this enough. Please do not create arguments outside of RP. Be respectful to everyone. No swearing, either. If you want to say something bad, at least say it in a cat swear (Fox-Heart etc). Don't take everything seriously. This is a fun environment and if something doesn't happen as you would like, it's just RP. The next two words are like a.
6. Characters. Two things fit under here. Keep your characters realistic. No star shaped patches on your back, or bright purple eyes. Make sure your character is like a real cat. Don't make it something that you would never see in the wild. The next thing is there is a max of five characters, but if you are a good rper, and you are active, we will allow as many as you want. People who join from the beginning and helped automatically get an unlimited amount.
7. Spamming. Do not spam anything. Do not repeat '__ come to ___' over and over again. You may say it once or twice, but please do not ask over and over again, unless it is a different person or a new thing.
8. Role-Playing. No one-liners, unless it's the only thing you can do. Try to make your posts detailed, maybe 4 sentences at the least. Don't make your posts so long that people get bored, though. No text-speak. Try to use proper grammar. No one can spell everything correctly, but try your best, and use correct capitalization and punctuation. The last word is tiger!
9. Last Thing! Look over every post before joining! We don't want someone to be confused. If you have any questions, ask! We want this to be a fun place and we don't want people to not join because they don't understand. People are here to help!

Traditions
Crystal Cave: Every time a kit reaches the age of six months, they go to the Crystal Cave to find out their path. They must travel this journey alone, or with littermates. Once they reach this cave, they must first not let the crystals reach into their souls. This is a death trap for most cats, as this is a large stone pillar with falling traps up to five hundred tail lengths. They must find the cave in the back, and take a small drink of the water. They will then dream and go to BrokenClan for the first time. When they wake up, there will be a small stone in between their paws. This will decide their path. There are multiple colors of stones you can get. The most common ones are dark gray and light gray.
Dark Gray - Hunter: They hunt for the Clan. Some of them try and hunt a certain piece of prey, but they usually go for any prey they can get.
Light Gray - Fighter: They fight for the Clan, although most cats end up fighting anyways. These are the cats that go with a Runner to patrol the borders. They also fight any other creatures; badgers, foxes, etc.
Black - Protector: They protect the camp and they also go with Runners. These are pretty rare. They usually become the next deputy then leader.
Silver - Leader: If you get this color, you are very special. It only happens when the leader is on their last life, or on the special day where three moons are showing. This means you will be the next leader of ShadeClan, and the leader will train you on everything a leader needs to know.
Light Blue - Runner: These aren't too rare, but they aren't as common as hunters or fighters. They often send messages and are the fastest cats in the Clan, and they also learn how to fight like every other cat. They usually patrol the borders and run to find water in a drought.
Lavender - Medicine Cat: These are incredibly rare, almost as rare as a leader stone. It only happens when there is an old medicine cat and the apprentice is a full medicine cat and is ready for an apprentice. You interact with BrokenClan as a medicine cat and heal the Clan.
White - This usually means that you can do everything, but you aren't the best at them all. You're path is chosen by your leader.
Clear - This is the worst stone, and probably the most rare. This means you must leave the Clan as you will be a problem and you will be no help to the Clan.
It is said that one cat picked their own stone that they wanted out of the pool and traveled back with it. Let's just say... they ended up hollow. Literally.
After a cat has finished their training, they will travel back to the Crystal Cave, and they must gather a crystal for themselves, after speaking with BrokenClan. They will learn their Spirit Animal. They must not tell a soul about this animal. After you learn your animal you will take your crystal back to your Clan, and it will change to any gem you would like. After this, the medicine cat will change this gem into a necklace and you shall wear this forever, never can you take it off.
Lastly, the medicine cat(s) will join with BrokenClan every quarter year when the two moons shine.

Territory
ShadeClan territory is a thick forest where you can hardly see the sky, unless you're in an open clearing.
Landmarks:
Spirit Pond - A small pool on the outer edge of the territory. It's said to be 'haunted' by some cats. Every quarter moon and decade, the pond glows when two/three moons shine.
Sky Tree - This tree seems to reach up into the sky. Cats have attempted to climb it. Once they reach the top, they love the view, but they cannot get back down, and it doesn't end well.
Swamp - This swamp is just a normal swamp. With overgrown brambles. It's a very dangerous area, for all non-ShadeClan cats. ShadeClan cats know the best ways to hunt here, without getting hurt by the brambles.
Out of Territory Landmarks:
Crystal Cave - The Crystal Cave is a landmark for all clans. It is way past FrostyClan's territory, in the far corner of the mountains. After going past FrostyClan territory, north, you would head east. Most cats know the journey by instinct. Once you are there, the cave is at the top of the highest mountain. When you enter, you see dazzling crystals surrounding you. If you walk towards them, and focus your eyes on the ground, it will begin to fade into a deep dark pit. Most non-clan cats and creatures will fall into the pit, attempting to touch the crystals. Clan cats know about a small tunnel leading back to a new cave. There are crystals you can actually take in the back, without dying. There is also a pool, with a never ending water source. In the bottom of the pool, there are small colored pebbles.

Camp
In the middle of their territory, a large clearing is placed by a long stream. There's an entrance big enough to fit the largest of cats. The camp is well built and can hold up in the strongest of storms. It's made of twigs and brambles, and leaf roofs. When you enter the camp, to the right of you is a large den but small entrance, that's the apprentice den. To the left is a rock, and a dip going under it. That's the fresh-kill pile. Moonstar had the idea that it would be protected better under a rock. Straight ahead from the entrance and right is a fallen log, covered in moss. Inside, it looks a lot bigger than from the outside. Across from that, to the left, was a thick tree, but it was short. Inside, was a medium sized area, with a beautiful nest. This was the leader's den. They would climb the tree and go to a special branch to announce things to his or her Clan. Behind the tree is a small cave, leading to a two parted den. The first part had a couple nests, for sick cats. The second part, which is more protected from the sick cats and farther from the entrance, has two nests, and a few storage spaces, like cracks in the walls and dips in the ground. This was for the medicine cats and their herb storage. In between the apprentice den and the nursery was a large dip in the ground. There were a few sticks with overhanging leaves, but it was mostly open to the sky. This was the warriors den, for most of the fighters, hunters, runners, and protectors. There were different sections for each group, unless you were mates with another, then you would have an exception. Across from that, in between the tree and the fresh kill pile, is two dens. They're both incredibly well built and sealed, the one beside the fresh kill pile is the elder's den. The one closer to the tree is the top den. It is filled with some of the most respected warriors. These warriors are rare. The deputy also stays here.
