Kai wished Max hadn't left. Even though she could be loud and sometimes annoying, at least she would be a nice bumper between Kai and Asher. Although they had been in the same friend group for a officially a year, Kai was pretty sure they had never talked. He wasn't even sure how that was possible since they would go to the same places to hangout and would sit together at lunch, but still had never talked.
He kept standing there in awkward silence, sweating in his fancy shirt, while silently hoping either Asher would speak up first, or one of their other mutual friends would show up.
--
Nyx felt the bus jolt to a stop. She looked out the window to see that they had arrived at school. Nervously, she shoved her sketchpad and pencil into her messenger bag.
She squeezed her way into the aisle and walked down the steps, and then hopped down into the outside. Instantly, Nyx was greeted by Max waiting.
She grinned, excited to see one of her friends. "Max!" Nyx squealed. Although she hated school, she was excited to see her friends every day again.
"Have you seen anyone else?" She had to ask. Hopefully, everyone was already there and they could get their lockers and class schedules together.

Clay sat in the passenger seat of his brother's Mustang as Raiden navigated the chaos that was a high school parking lot.
"Nervous?" Raiden asked, glancing at his brother for a few seconds. His dark eyes returned to the road as he finally spotted a space and slipped his car in between two large trucks.
Clay hadn't replied so Raiden leaned over, flicking the side of his brother's head. "C'mon, Clayster, I'm trying to help here," he said.
Clay looked up, noticing once again how different the brothers looked. Raiden was popular, but his brother's popularity wouldn't help him if they looked so different no one would believe they were related. Clay was pale. Raiden was tan. Clay had shaggy blonde hair. Raiden had short dark hair. Clay had blue eyes. Raiden had brown. The were more different than night and day.
"I dunno. I guess," Clay said with a shrug. He hoped out of the car, fiddling with the worn backpack he's used since the start of middle school.
"Well, why don't you go find your friends, alright? I'm not gonna embarrass you and ask if you need help, but you know where to find me if you need anything," Raiden offered.
Clay had to smile at his brother's words. "Thanks, Rai. I'll see you later." The two boys went separate ways as they entered the school.
It didn't take him long to find Nyx and Max, and the boy ran over with a grin on his face. "Hey guys!"
***
Brooke hopped out of her mother's car when they reached the drop off area. She'd already said good bye and given her mother a kiss, so she didn't hesitate to run off with only a wave in acknowledgment to her mother.
The girl pushed open the wide doors of the school, glancing around in amazement. Everything was so much bigger in high school. What if she got lost?
No.
She wouldn't not.
Brooke refused to let herself get lost and embarrass herself like some tiny freshman (even though that's what she was. She held her chin high as she made her way to her locker, feeling tiny between the upperclassmen as she squeezed past.
Sighing, Brooke unloaded her materials in her locker before pulling out her phone. No texts. Well, she'd have to find her friends on her own. She pushed through other students, glancing up and down different hallways as she attempted to find her friends.
She already felt overwhelmed as she tried to navigate only the first floor of the madness. Right when she was about to give up, Brooke spotted two familiar faces. She spend up, making her way over and throwing an arm around each boy's shoulders.
"Kai," she said, glancing at one of them. "Asher." Her eyes moved to the other. "Didja guys miss me?" she asked, speaking loudly in order to be heard over the hum of activity around them.
(Sorry they're short and blah I'm trying to respond to a whole bunch of things.)

Skylar could probably be in the first group. I could see her as friends with both Kai and Brooke honestly She probably dislikes Asher tho
Which leaves my smol boi for the second group. I'm naming him Grace, I think, because what's better than a small artsy boy with a kinda feminine name? cx))

"Nyx!" Max exclaimed happily, relieved to see a friendly, familiar face. As much as she wasn't bothered by the stress and pressure of starting high school, much like Asher, she had missed her friends. "Good to see ya. Nah, I ain't seen anyone else yet. Just got here. They might be inside, though." Max lived near the schools, but she didn't usually arrive before the others. Liked to take her time biking, sometimes chat with Asher a bit before they split up to find their respective friends.
The sound of Clay's voice from nearby caused Max's grin to widen a bit. "Speakin' of friends, here comes Clay," she said, then greeted him with a slightly rough fistbump and a light punch to the arm. "Clay, my man! Ain't seen ya in forever." Among their group of friends, Max might have been the roughest one, though she knew better than to hurt anyone. Well, knew better than to hurt them too badly, anyway, and typically not on purpose.
-------
Asher and Kai didn't necessarily dislike each other, at least neither of them acted like it, but both boys were too quiet to ever start a conversation with each other. Frankly, Asher didn't care enough about Kai to even bother speaking, and only saw him as the rest of the group's friend. The kid had been invited to join them last year, sure, but that didn't automatically make them friends. Not in Asher's opinion, anyway. He stood awkwardly near Kai, body slightly tense, hands shoved into the front pockets of his jeans. Loud music drifting from his headphones, though not loud enough to block out all the noise.
Brooke's appearance didn't change the boy's quiet, blank expression. Was he happy to see her? Maybe, but maybe not. He wasn't as out going and friendly as everyone else. Didn't like to talk, didn't like to be around too many people at once. It was too much work and he was just too lazy to deal with it all. When asked if he had missed her, he simply gave her a neutral shrug, not a yes or a no. It was his usual response most of the time, anyway.

Nyx was disappointed, but at least she wasn't alone anymore. She just preferred when they were all together and she could hide amongst the others. "Oh well. Wanna come with me to get our lockers and schedules?" That was what she was most afraid of.
But before Max could respond, she eats Clay. Nyx's face lit up. "Clay!" She squealed, laughing as Max bumped him in the shoulder. "Oh thank goodness, now we can maybe make like a wedge to move our way through."
Nyx and Max were small, and Nyx was personally convinced that they might get trampled trying to get to the office.
--
"Brooke, hey." Kai let out a sigh of relief, thankful to have someone other than Kai to talk with. Although he also wasn't much of a talker, he would at least try to carry on a conversation.... unlike Asher.
"You don't look scared, like... at all." Maybe since Brooke had been going to this school longer, she has seen the high school at some point or something. Not that Kai was scared, just... nervous.

Clay grinned at his friends' reaction of his appearance. After Max punched in the arm, he threw an arm around her shoulders in a somewhat one armed hug before turning and giving Nyx a large smile. He shook his head slightly, trying to get his hair out of his eyes. "By the way, Raiden said that if we need anything we should feel free to track him down," he said. While it wasn't out of character for his brother to do that, Clay was still touched that he'd leave his popular friends to help out a group of helpless little freshman.
He shrugged. "And also, I got a dog." Clay hadn't had much contact with any of his friends for the last month due to a camping trip where their phones hadn't worked. It had been a nice trip and ended with Raiden and Clay being surprised with a puppy. He looked at Max and then at Nyx. "You guys should come meet her sometime. She's the cutest little thing and Raiden's pretty much given her to me completely. Said he's too busy with school, work, and getting ready for college," he said with a shrug.
He liked his brother and all, but he was glad he didn't have to share the dog. Clay had a soft spot for animals, though he was happy enough without children around. That's why he was glad to be in high school, despite being nervous. There were no little elementary schoolers, no obnoxious middle schooolers. Just them and a long ladder to climb to the top. Someday, he knew, they'd be where Raiden and his friends were standing.
Possibly not though because Clay knew they weren't necessarily popularity material.
***
"Hello, Asher. I'm doing well, how about you? Oh, really? Well that's good to hear. And yes, I am so glad to see you again, buddy," Brooke said when Asher had no response to her arrival. It didn't surprise her and she wasn't offended by the boy's lack of words, but she still held the one sided conversation. Maybe it was a way to get him to speak, maybe it was fueled by slight annoyance, or maybe she was just full of energy and hopped up on a few cups of coffee. It was impossible to tell at the moment.
She then turned her gaze towards Kai. "Of course, I'm not scared," she said, her chin still raised proudly despite the fear within her. She then shrugged, deciding to admit it to Kai. After all, who could you be more honest with than your friends? "I'm actually kinda terrified, but not in the same way that most people are. In fact, I wouldn't even say terrified is the right word. More like nervous. About getting lost. Plus these high schoolers are huge." Brooke was pretty tall for her age, yet still shorter than the majority of students at the high school and 90% of the guys.
"But, hey, no need to worry, right? We've got each other and we always have," she said. She glanced at the other boy, holding back a 'right, Asher?' She wouldn't force him to speak in fear of annoying the boy. She wanted to stay on the good sides of all her friends.
"Plus, think about it. We're high schoolers. Now. Next thing you know we'll be driving and dating and working and going to college," she sighed with a hopeful look in her eyes. "We're growing up, man."

((That sounds perfect. XD))
"Really?" Nyx's eyes lit up. Raiden would give up some time to hangout with his popular friends to help out Clay and his friends? It was like a breath of fresh air... Nyx had been practically sick from fear from starting at high school and not knowing where to go. She had been worried that the older kids would beat her up or something if she tried to ask, so at least she had Raiden to fall back on... if she could find him.
At some point in her long friendship with Clay, Nyx knew that she had had a very embarrassing crush on Clay's much older brother, in a way that only little kids can. At some point she had wised up and ditched those feelings, but that didn't mean she didn't still love teasing Raiden and seeing him when she would go over to Clay's house.
"Of course we'll come visit. I love puppies... and kittens... anything small, squishy, and stupid." Nyx sighed. She wished that they didn't have to go to school so she could go meet his puppy now, but sadly that wasn't going to happen. "What did you name her? Do you have a picture?"
Normally, Nyx was fairly quiet and didn't ask too many questions, but they were talking about a puppy and nothing broke her away from being shy better than that.
((So I may or may not be basing Nyx's former Raiden crush on my own experiences. Apparently when I was little, like five, I had this huge crush on my friend's older brother. -.-" And years later, when I was like ten, our moms decided to bring it up and mock me. I was like Okay, but please stop because he's still kind of hot and this is just horrible. They did not stop.))

(Same. Luckily it was a really minor crush and nobody knew. Wen I got a bit older I stopped crushing on her older brother and started to like her twin brother XD luckily I've abandoned al my crushes on her brothers years ago)
Clay grinned. "Her name is Raven," he said, pulling out his phone to show her the picture of the little black German shepherd. "She's great. Full of energy but she listens really well," he said with a smile. His mom was very into dog training and was able to guide Clay through training her to be a well behaved dog. He laughed. "Funniest dog ever."
"And I'm sure you can see Raiden at some point. You know he thinks of you as a little sister." Clay and Nyx had been friends for, like, ever at this point and Raiden had grown up with her around, making it like he had a little sister as well as Clay.
As if he knew they were talking about him, Raiden had abandoned his friends when he opened up his backpack and spotted Clay's pencil bag. The kid would freak out if he realized he was missing school supplies. He was already terrified enough.
"Hey, guys, I'll be right back," Raiden said, grabbing the pencil bag and slinging his backpack over one shoulder. "I gotta run stuff to Clay."
"Alright. See ya in English," Jack said, nodding towards Raiden. He went off Togo find their other friends, leaving Raiden on his own. The older boy made his way up and down the halls, trying to find his brother.
When he spotted Clay and Nyx and one of their other friends, he grinned and sped up a bit, running his hand through his short hair. He was only recently trying out the short hair after having hair about Clay's length for a long time and he liked it even if it felt a little weird.
He stopped when he reached the freshmen. "So, Nyx, you excited for your freshman year?" he asked. He knew her the best out of the whole group, so he focused on talking to her instead of anyone else.
He then glanced at Clay. "And you forgot this," he said, handing over the pencil bag. Clay's always pink cheeks turned even brighter and he took his backpack off, shoving the case inside. He fumbled with t a little before pulling the backpack back on his shoulders.
"Thanks, Rai," he said with a grin. He knew his brother was looking out for him and that helped ease some of his fears about the upcoming school year. That didn't stop him from fidgeting with some threads hanging from the left strap of his backpack.
