Wavepaw waved her tail as she padded toward the fresh-kill pile and chose the smallest mouse. Her blue-green eyes sparkled a little, and she carried her prey to a shady corner of camp. She smiled as she took a small bite.

Plus, he's older and more experienced and everyone already KNOWS him.
Yes, he's a bit of an over thinking ****z, but everyone know how caring he is and how hard he works and that he CAN lead a cat and train them, even if they are different in personality than him - since everyone doubted him being able to handle Firepaw and he's coming along super well.
Also if I can get y'all's opinions on my character *text colors, I'd really appreciate it and I'll stick it under a spoiler box lol <

Well I do know Snowleaf if going to be devastated so she will go into a deep depression... it might not effect riverfang because he wouldn't have any kind of relationship with them. So snowleaf could be pushing him away from she is mad at herself.

In the meantime, Spottedpaw was just finishing up her meal. "Hey there, Wavepaw!" The tortoiseshell she-cat waved her tail in greeting to the other apprentice. "How's the prey running today?" With a curious tilt to her head, Spottedpaw ran her tongue over her forepaw, before rubbing it against her nose. She had been planning on asking Kestrelcall if they could go hunting today, but a glance over at her mentor implied that he was currently occupied with Blizzardclaw, and she should wait her turn to speak to him. Despite promising to be patient, the young she-cat felt a stab of frustration, eager to go. She was going to be a warrior, soon, and the more practice she got, the better warrior she would be, after all.

Wavepaw shrugged, not really caring that she hadn't had much practice as of late. To herself, she was good enough already to be a good warrior. Her green eyes shone a little less, but it was barely noticeable.

A derisive snort was heard from the spotted apprentice. "All the warriors seem to be busy with something or another today, huh?" Spottedpaw rolled onto her back, paws lolling in the air. "Except for the apprentices, apparently. I'm going to rot away to an elder before I get to be a warrior." She sighed, maybe being just a tad dramatic. After all, you couldn't really become an elder if you weren't a warrior before that. That thought intrigued her, though.
"Say, Wavepaw, I wonder if that's ever happened before, y'know? An apprentice that got so old, they just named them a warrior?"
It seemed like a logical question to her, and it was something to take her mind off the fact that she essentially wasn't training or hunting, which was where she wanted to be.

"I.... I've never heard of anything like that..." was Wavepaw's hesitant answer. "Maybe if we asked one of the elders, we'll get an answer."

"Ugh, I know, but eleven moons is nearly a warrior!" A small groan came from the senior apprentice. "Our assessments are going to be any day, so I need to be training as much as possible!" She couldn't have her warrior skills getting soft, after all, not before it was time to judge whether she was capable of being a warrior or not.
However, at the white and silver tabby's suggestion, the tortoiseshell rolled over again, plopping to her side with a small puff of dust before she pulled herself to her belly. The curiosity in her pale green eyes smoldered like a small fire, and she leaped to her paws, a new mission before her.
"We should ask them! Blossomheart and Cedarchirp should know!"
However, another glance was given towards her mentor, indecision in her eyes now. He didn't look like he would be ready to take her out anytime soon, but what if she missed the chance to train at all today?
"...but maybe we should wait to ask them? I don't want to miss my chance if Kestrelcall is looking for me later; he might not know to look for me in the elder's den."

"You say that, but what if when it's time for assessments to come, I'm out of practice?" Anyone who knew the ambitious tortoiseshell she-cat could probably rest assured that she wasn't 'out of practice'. "I want to be the deputy one day, and if I fail my assessment, then that's holding me back from that." Spottedpaw was completely serious about this dream. She'd spent almost six moons pestering Kestrelcall at every chance she got to go hunt or train, and if she could figure out ways, she'd train on her own too, or challenge one of her denmates to a mock fight.
There were still some things the young cat had to learn, though. Patience and maturity, for one.
