Welcome... to where dreams are made and broken... where second chances are given and taken... and where DauntlessClan lives and dies
A small gray tabby carefully makes her way across the dark forest. The trees' branches stretch like cobweb above the tabby's head, and birds chirp cheerfully throughout the forest. Golden sparkling sunlight filters through the thick covering of the trees, and it's just light enough to see where one is going. It seemed to be the perfect territory.
The tabby she-cat makes her away across the forest quietly and quickly, and flinches every time she crackles a dried leaf or snaps a small twig. She knew what was in this forest. She heard the stories of the dreadful, wild clan cats that lived in the forest.
No outside cat dare walk through the middle of their territory. However, the gray tabby she-cat had no choice. The river that ran through the territory and beyond was huge and monstrous, and there was only one way to avoid it: to walk up across the territory and cross the river at the only calm and shallow patch there was.
The she-cat began to wonder about the wild cats. She pictured them lurking the shadows, ready to pounce on her and kill her without mercy. She could practically see their sharp claws and gleaming teeth.
A loud snap of wood made her freeze in her steps. -what was that?- she thought, heart pounding fast in her chest. Her ears pricked in alert, and she scanned her surroundings, looking for the source of the sound.
"Well, look what we have here..." A cold voice said behind the tabby. The tabby turned around in an instant, breathing fast in anticipation. "I-I just want to cross the river. I don't want to hunt or anything." the gray she-cat said shakily to the cat she saw in front of her. The cat was a small, light brown tabby tom and he had no expression as she stared back at the gray tabby.
"I believe you." the tom said curtly. "However, you are trespassing on our territory. And for that, you have two choices..." his voice made the gray she-cat shiver in dread.
"One, I will escort you out, and you are never to return..." the brown tom said simply. "Or two, you may stay and see if you qualify to become a warrior of our clan." he made the offer seem very simple, but the gray tabby was unsure of what to do. But she had to answer quickly, that she knew.
"I... I want to become a warrior. I want to stay." she said confidently, no longer afraid to look at the tom. The tom smiled, his face showing satisfaction. And he said to her,
"ᵂᵉᶫᶜᵒᵐᵉ ᵗᵒ ᴰᵃᵘᶰᵗᶫᵉˢˢᶜᶫᵃᶰ"
DauntlessClan is a tough clan that lives in a harsh climate of frigid winters and scorching summers. For the most part, they are protected by both of the harsh seasons by the forest that they live in. It protects them from cold winds and deep snow in the winter, and provides lots of shade from the hot sun in the summer. They are know to be very proud of their clan and heritage. They are very brave in battle and even in every day life. They do not accept cats are cowardly. In fact, the final test for an apprentice to become a warrior is about being brave (more info on this in Rituals). They can be cautious of a stranger (loner, rougue, kitty-pet), but every so often a cat outside of the clan will be accepted after being tested to see if they are worthy to join. Overall, DauntlessClan is a brave clan, that is proud of who they are, and would do anything to protect their clan.
Apprentice into Warrior
To become a warrior, an apprentice has to go through a final test. The first part is hunting. In the second part, DauntlessClan apprentices have to walk across The Endless River of Death on a fallen down tree. The apprentices are tricked to think that one of their clanmates is hurt across the river across the fallen tree. The apprentices pass if they cross the tree, across the river, to reach their clanmate. Once this is done, they may become a warrior. Warriors do not talk about the second part of training, so apprentices do not know what to expect. To read more on the Endless River of Death, go to Territory.
Outside Cat into Clan Cat
If an outside cat (loner, rogue, kitty-pet) wants to join the clan, they have to go through a three part test. The test as a whole is to see their physical ability, personality, and true motives. The leader assigns a cat to talk to the outsider, so that this cat can collect information on him/her. Once this is done, and the outside cat seems to have good enough motive, then they move on to physical ability. The leader herself/himself will bring the cat out into the forest, and ask them to catch prey, climb a tree, try to swim in the lake, and so on. Since physical ability does not matter as much as personality and motives, if the cat does not do well on it, but does good on the rest, there is still a good chance this outside cat will be accepted. The third part is personality. The outside cat will be asked to kill an apprentice or kit to be accepted into the clan, or something similar. This is a trick to see how the outsider will react to this. Depending on how the cat reacts to this, the cat may or may not be accepted into the clan.
Burials
When a cat dies, the clan is very mournful of the loss. So when it is time to bury him/her, they build a soft nest to lay the body on in the ground. When they fill the hole with dirt, a cat close to them may chose to pick one of the purple, white, or yellow iris's that grow in the forest and place it in with the cat or on top of the grave when all the dirt is back in place. To mark the grave, they put a small circle of rocks around it.
DauntlessClan began long ago, when the world of warriors and clans was still new, and may things were still unknown. But it started with four brave souls of four young cats by the names of Mouse, Wing, Shadow, and Clover; these are the four cats who founded DauntlessClan. Four different cats, one dream: to create a clan of their own. So they spent many moons traveling and looking for the perfect place to make their clan. It was seven long moons later that they finally stumbled upon a moor. As they gazed down from a hill located on the moor, they could see a grassy field. Just beyond this field was a vast forest. They many branches of the many trees shadowed on the ground, making it cool and protected, and also beautiful. The four of them quickly agreed that this was the perfect place to start a clan. In the next five moons they worked hard to find cats in the area to join their small group. They welcomed loners, rogues, and kitty-pets that had the potential to be a great warrior for their clan. And before they knew it, their small group of four had become a large group of nearly twenty. But the peacefulness came to an end. A great threat came to the clan and their forest. It was angry rogues that hadn't wanted to join up with the clan. And now they wanted revenge on the new clan for taking the land they had once hunted on. On a dark and silent night, the rogues attcked the clan. This newly made clan fought hard to protect what they had built so hard on. It finally ended, but there was much sacrifice. The established leader of the group, Mouse, died, as well as many others. But the cats who died, formed the first StarClan cats up in the stars. Mouse sent a sign from up in StarClan, to Ivy, a former loner. Ivy listened to Mouse, even though it was dream. She discovered the MoonPath, which lead to the MoonRock. From there, Ivy was told to go and bring Clover. Ivy brough Clover back to the MoonRock, and Clover became the first nine lived leader. She was now Cloverstar and Ivy became the first medicine cat, whose name was changed to Ivyshadow. Cloverstar took immediate action to find more cats worthy of the title warrior in DauntlessClan. She rebuilt the clan into the glory it once was. She was the one who made the clan into the brave and proud it is now known for.
From then on, there has been many leaders, deputies, warriors, apprentices, kits, elders, and queens. But here are the ones that made stories pass from generation to generation to the current one.
Mouse: He was the first leader of DauntlessClan, even though he didn't have nine lives. He lead the clan very proudly, and died in clan first battle. He was known for the life he lived so generously.
Cloverstar: she was known for the change she made on the clan. She was known to be very brave, and something she used to say still passes down through the clan: "To have courage is not to be fearless. To be brave, you have to conquer your fear."
Ivyshadow: The first medicine cat of the clan that discovered the MoonPath and MoonRock. She was ultimately known for discovering most herbs and their uses.
Spiritsong: A warrior that is known for his sacrifice when cats attacked the DauntlessClan camp. He gave up his life to hide his mate that was in a bush some distance away, with their three newborn kits.
