Back in the beginning of time, there were thirteen beings. Thirteen beings with extraordinary powers and wisdom. They were known as Celestial Beings. Part human and part animal, these beings had a certain characteristic to them that made them like no other. They all had certain names, and with those names were what they were known as. Aries the Ram, Taurus the Bull, Gemini the Twins, Cancer the Crab, Leo the Lion, Virgo the Maiden, Libra the Scales, Scorpio the Scorpion, Sagittarius the Archer, Capricorn the Goat, Aquarius the Water Bearer, and Pisces the Fish.
Each was given an animal companion as well, to keep them company and to guide as well as protect them. To officially be appointed as a part of the Zodiac Kingdom, each animal was given an invitation to join their selected master. However, one of the animals, the Rat, fooled another, the Cat, by saying it was the next day instead of that day. Therefore, there was one animal missing the day of the party. Aries had the Rabbit, Taurus had the Ox, Cancer had the Dog, Leo had the Dragon, Virgo had the Monkey, Libra had the Rat, Scorpio had the Snake, Sagittarius had the Horse, Capricorn had the Goat, Aquarius had the Rooster and Pisces had the Pig. The Gemini twins were supposed to get two, as they were two beings, however, the Cat never showed up, therefore leaving Gemini with just the Tiger.
Eventually, as humans began life on Earth, the Celestial Zodiacs ruled and watched over them with their animal companions during a certain time period. However, as humans grew and grew, the power and strength of the Zodiacs were drained. It came to the point where they could not go on any more and were to take to the sky in an eternal sleep, where they could watch over Earth.
The Zodiacs did not leave for the sky, however, until they gifted thirteen strong humans with their gifts that showed the signs of each Celestial Zodiac. Though the Celestial Zodiacs had left, the animals stayed. To keep watch and protect the Earth until their masters awoken, giving aide to the humans when they needed it most.
The Gift of the Zodiac is not heritage. No, it's by internal strength and personality. Each generation, there are thirteen beings with the Gift. They are given a half Celestial form and a full human form. It's said they look normal, just like you and me. But they're far from normal.
And they carry a far heavier job title than you nor I ever will.
This thread is for one-shots or small writings of what could happen in the role-play or perhaps just some creative ideas together with this universe. Either way, it's a place where members can come to write about their characters or events or whatever they'd like.

Out of no where, it had hit him. Sitting on the kitchen counter, giving a soft banter with Hotaru, Kohaku and Haru, Katashi was enjoying a bit of onegiri. It was like an unstoppable force of wind had hit him, making him unable to breathe, his heart nearly stopping in his chest, the physical, mental and emotional pain hitting him like a hurricane, nearly being too much for his body to handle. The comforted look was replaced with a horrified, blank one as he stared at the kitchen floor, gasping for air.
Vision blurry, tears beginning to form, the Gemini twin collapsed to the floor from the counter, heaving with each breath. His body trembled and his mind went numb. It was like the world had suddenly lost its color, he was color-blind with no warning, deaf without an injury, mute without a reason, blind without a cause.
He was suddenly alone.
There was no one with that special link anymore. it had snapped, been severed, taken from him. The one sense of comfort to him in this world, the one thing that kept him stable. And now it was just gone. Everything was gone. Just like that. It was all gone. Gone.
Faintly, Katashi could hear the frantic panicked words asking him what was wrong, if he was alright. The world was spinning too fast and he could barely breathe. Acutely aware that his body needed oxygen, he took a deep breath and went to do the one thing that he couldn't do without Satoshi there. Risking everything, he shifted into his Celestial form and attempted to vanish into thin air.
With success.
Reforming his body into a physical solid state, Katashi's mind began to run blank. His ears flattened, his tail lashing and claws digging into the wooden floor beneath him, bowing his head, his senses no longer working. No, that wasn't wood. That was dirt and grass. Was he outside?
Somewhere, far in his mind, he was acutely aware that he was screaming and wailing as if someone had stabbed him and was continuing to stab him. If only, as that alternate choice would be so much better than the one he was facing now.
At least he wouldn't be alone. He wouldn't have this job, this reality, this formation alone. At least then, he wouldn't be here on the floor, unable to do anything, unable to aware of anything but one thing.
Tears fell from his face like a raging waterfall after a terrible storm, his body was heavy and couldn't move, his mind on repeat over that one thing over and over again.
The Gemini twins had a bond that was farther beyond that of a human's bond. It was a spiritual bond, it was a godly bond. It was one that was like a life-support to the other. They could tell what the other was thinking before they knew what they were thinking. They talked at the same time, perfectly in synchronization, moving like they were animated with copy and paste movements between the two. They were closer than what you could ever imagine to think.
And now Katashi was alone.
There was no warning to this. No hint that there was anything wrong. He would have felt it, unless his twin was that confident or that good at hiding it. He would have known if his twin was in danger... he would have known...
He should have known.
Collapsing to the ground as his knees and arms gave out, he curled up into a ball and was slowly being brought back into reality. His voice echoed in wails around the room, he faintly felt others shaking him, frantically trying to figure out what was wrong.
Couldn't they feel it? Did they not understand? Why did no one go with him? Why had he been left alone? He never should have left him alone.
They convinced Katashi to stay behind, that it was going to be a quick jog to the market. It was their fault. They caused this. He was alone now, because of that stupid choice.
Yowls of pain echoed around in his mind, he could hear them grieving too. He could feel their pain as much as he felt his own. They were yowls of loss, of pain, of hurt, of anger, of grief, much like his own wailing.
They were the only ones who understood right now.
He wanted them near. All of them. He needed them. They had what was left. They were the only bonds that he had left. The only things that meant he wasn't alone. As a human, he was alone. As a Celestial being, he was alone. As a zodiac, he was alone.
Like a last good-bye.
He needed them here as much as he needed Satoshi here. And while they were not his to control, they listened. From farther than he had ever been able to reach out before. He called out to them.
Katashi cried out for help.
And every feline came. Every shape and size, every color and species. They came and they gave him enough strength to get to his feet. He needed to see this himself. He heard the worried shouts from behind him, the hands that tried to hold him back. With claws of wrath and grief, he untangled himself from that mess and dashed forward as fast as he could have ever ran.
His ears and tail had since shifted back, his vision barely working. He listened to them, listened to their calls, his body following a path in an unnatural way. His Celestial form would not work here, it would not show and make the possibility of him getting taken away from his last chance.
The clouds over-head had began to get darker, he could heard the thunder in the distance. It was an unnatural way that the only thing he heard was the forming storm and the guidance of the only ones he had left of a bond.
They showed him the path to their Fallen King.
Laying in a pool of blood in an area that wouldn't be found quickly, a back alley, was the King of all Cats. His hand over his stomach, eyes closed as if he were just sleeping, he looked peaceful, with a soft smile on his lips as if he had tempted fate and won.
But he had lost.
And he had brought Katashi down with him.
The last Gemini twin fell to his knees and pulled the lifeless form close to him, his wails once again returning, calling out to the heavens to bring back his life-force. His pathetic, sobbing cries to the Celestial beings that he was a part of to bring back the one thing that made him safe, that made him alive, that understood him.
With every ounce of force he had, every bit of power, Katashi Nekiyuko called out to the Thirteen Zodiacs of the stars, the original divine beings, to bring his dead brother back.
"I'll give you my powers. I'll give you my control. I'll give you my heart. I'll give you my soul, "he prayed as he wailed up to the dark skies. "I'll give you my entire body, rip my soul from my physical form. I'll give you everything I have. Take my soul as a trade. Give me Satoshi back. Bring back my brother!"
His prayers mentally continued with every fiber of his being, every last drop of his will going out to those prayers, to somehow reverse time and reverse the effects of death and bring back what was most dear and precious to him. Katashi hugged and held Satoshi's body close, the warmth of his body still there.
He heard sirens. He heard people. He could feel the tugging and feel their stares of shock and horror. All their mystery and wonder at the mass of protective, grieving bodies, all in a circle around one boy and his mirror image that was now lifeless and beginning to lose the warmth of life.
"Satoshi! Please just bring him back! Give me my brother back! Bring him back!"
The rain had began to come down and there was a tug at his shoulder. He refused to listen to it as a twinge of anger came to him. They weren't going to separate them. Not now. Just a little more time. Just a little bit longer.
Go away! Leave us alone! I can do this... they'll bring him back! Leave us alone! It was a protective circle of felines, spitting and hissing, clawing and biting. No longer could anyone reach the grieving boy and the dead body of his twin.
The rain began to pour harder, his wails and cries beginning to grow pained and hoarse. The streets of Tokyo began to form streams of water, the rain pelting down from the sky as if it was crying over the loss of such a beautiful life.
Time had passed, how much, Katashi was unsure. During that time all he could do was beg for his brother back. The world of black and white had no meaning to it anymore. He was alone.
And then there was silence.
"Katashi?"
His head hurt, his throat hurt, everything hurt. He refused to open his eyes, holding onto the form in his arms as tightly as possible.
"Katashi..."
A gentle, soft and cold hand touched his cheek, wet and dripping from the rain. Unable to move, the Gemini twin just left the hand stay there on his cheek, long past the point of being unable to cry with tears. There was only hoarse, choked sobs of someone who had lost everything close and dear to him.
Everything had been taken from him. He had nothing left.
"Katashi...?"
There was nothing left. The color in the world had been taken from him. Everything was taken from him in just one moment. One foolish choice left him alone in this world. So alone...
Shivering from the cold, yet Katashi's body shook with the sobs and silent wails as his hung his head, clutching onto the body as if it would be taken away from him if he even dared to let go.
"Katashi, you're hurting me."
When he opened his eyes, the color flowed back into his vision once again, his blurry vision having grown clearer the moment he opened them.
"Katashi...?"
This is a small one-shot based on a small idea that I got for my roleplay "The Signs of the Zodiac". This isn't canon to the role-play universe, at least, I hope it won't.
The main character of interest is Katashi Nekiyuko, one half of the Gemini Zodiac. He shares this responsibility with his twin, Satoshi Nekiyuko. The twins grew up mostly with only each other and thus developed a strong bond. However, over the years of training as a Celestial Zodiac, their bond formed into something that wasn't even human.
In this small bit of writing, Satoshi had decided to leave the House of Celestia before a small storm to grab some snacks so everyone could curl up together and enjoy their time. Katashi had offered to go with him, but the three other Zodiacs with him, Hotaru Kishida who is Sagittarius, Kohaku Kitamura who is Scorpio and Haru Kuga who is Pisces, all suggested that Katashi stay with them. For once, the twins allowed themselves to be parted and went their own ways as individuals. As separate beings for the first time in their lives.
Misfortune comes as Satoshi makes his way to the market as he takes a short-cut and comes face-to-face with the incarnation of Envy, known as Kenzy Sakura. This inhuman being was a part of the Seven Deadly Sins, whom existed to bring misery and their sole opposites who existed to prevent them from doing so are the Celestial Zodiacs. Seeing one half of the Gemini twins on his own, there was an opportunity that can't be missed.
It was a quick little writing that I put together and hope you enjoyed! The ending can be thought of however you would like, as it's an open ending to the viewer's liking.

The soft whispers had keened his interest. Pride had said that they were nearby, so it was natural to assume that the prey were close. The creature lurked forward in their human form, green eyes of a royal shade, centered on the weakened prey that had been said to be nearby. The stone under this creature's feet barely held, the weight being nearly too much.
Countless lives had been lost to this creature of darkness, green with envy and jealousy. This creature was the embodiment of Envy. Nothing could touch it, nothing could get past it. It made sure that nothing was better than them, anything that someone had that was better than what they had was instantly theirs.
The true gender of such a shape-shifter was always kept secret, however, the human form that this creature took was one that was physically male, though it could pass for either gender with ease. Bare feet weighed down the broken pavement beneath them, a cold and murderous gaze set out beyond the abandoned, neglected buildings.
"Shhh, it's alright."
There was a hushed, soft voice. The creature stopped in their tracks, tilting their head to listen.
"It's going to be alright. They'll notice we're not back yet. It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay."
Silence stayed for only a moment before the creature stepped forward onto a piece of a broken plastic chair, the snap filling the air with an intense sudden noise. There was a collective panicked gasp of fear and the shuffling of one person trying to get up with the weight of another.
The envious creature stopped, their cold dark green eyes staring at the corner of the building, waiting to listen to hear where the prey was heading off to.
Following behind at a leisuring pace, the creature followed until the prey thought they were safe enough to rest again. The gentle sound of one person setting another onto the ground came to the creature's ears.
"I...I-It.... h-h-hurts...." a weak, shaking voice whimpered.
"Shh... Shh, I know, I know. But it's going to be okay. It'll be okay, I promise. It's going to be okay," another whispered back. The creature of Envy could hear the trembling fear in his voice, the panic.
For some reason, when the creature glanced at the view, something deep down in them made them stop, not making a sound nor speaking a single word. Like a statue, watching and listening closely.
"K...Kata ... sh ... i ..." the weaker one wheezed, a bloodied trembling hand going up to the other's face. The one whom was called Katashi leaned his face into the other's hand, tears beginning to flow down his cheek.
"You'll be fine. It's going to be okay."
The Gemini Twins, Katashi and Satoshi Nekiyuko. Born with natural abilities of that from the ancient times of the zodiacs, these two had the partial forms and abilities of such divine creatures, having half of their blood run through as a divine creature. They were the King of Felines, able to shape-shift, evaporate into thin air and command any type of feline. Their Celestial forms were similar to that of half-cat people, ones that were called "nekos" in Japan.
Envy and Pride were made to counter such beings, however, it was this heavy creature that stood before the twins that was the real one to strike them down. With weight heavy enough to affect them in their evaporated forms, they were made to kill them with ease.
And yet, while they were at their weakest, Envy stood there.
"Ka...ta...sh...i... I-I'm... c-col...d..." the younger one whispered softly, his name being Satoshi. The Cat Gemini, the younger twin.
"I know... I know, Satoshi... I'm trying... I'm trying...." the elder one murmured back, the terror and grief in his voice making it tremble. This was Katashi. The Tiger Gemini, the older twin.
Envy was born with the natural gift of being able to tell them apart like night and day, even when it seemed impossible. They seemed to be the only one that was able to tell the twins apart with such ease.
"Satoshi? Hey, Satoshi, don't close your eyes like that."
"I'm... so... ti...red..." The wound that had been given to the younger Gemini twin was one that was dangerous. Though it wasn't easily seen, the amount of blood that was between the two twins was enough to say that he wouldn't make it.
"Please keep your eyes open. Don't leave me... Don't... Don't l-leave..." Katashi's voice broke off into a soft, hushed sob, his head being hung over the other. Tears mixed with the blood of his brother upon his cheek, pouring down. "I don't want to be alone... you're the only one who understands... you're the only thing I have... Don't go..." Something about this made the creature of Envy's chest tighten. Killing children in front of their mothers, lovers before one another, even brothers in front of the other, there wasn't much that Envy hadn't done. And yet... something about this hurt their heart. Why?
Why was this causing emotion in them?
Stepping out into the open, the creature began to slowly make their way towards the twins, an indifferent look upon their face. Katashi's head snapped up and with a blink of the eye, he had shifted into his Celestial form, baring his teeth with a ferocious hiss and growl, his ears flattened against his head.
"Stay away!" he spat, holding his dying brother closer, fear turning to rage in those stormy blue eyes of his. "Don't you dare come any closer!"
The creature of Envy said nothing, only continuing to walk forward at the same slow pace.
Katashi spat venomous words, his tail lashing behind him. When Envy was within a few meters of the two brothers, the elder twin's voice began to call out louder and louder, as if the volume he used would stop the creature in its tracks.
It did not.
"Please... just leave us alone! Go away!" That was a voice of pleading and anger, of frustration and fear. The black fur of his arms was caked in blood, his chest heaving between fear, anger and choked back sobs. "I'm warning you! Stay away!"
"K...at...a...sh...i..." Satoshi wheezed softly as the creature of Envy came even closer. "Lea...ve... m...e... R-R...R-Run...."
The creature of Envy stopped in their tracks, looking down at the twins, a mere meter away from them. The dark green eyes looked down at the younger twin with a expression that could not be explained through words.
"Why...? Why us...? Why is life... this way...?" Katashi's voice trembled. He bowed his head, his ears laying flat on his head, his tail going limp with defeat. "If... we were ever born again... Satoshi... I would like us to be brothers once more... and spend a little more time together..."
"I'd... li...ke... th-that...." Satoshi's breathing was getting softer and softer, more uneven and ragged as he curled a bit more into his brother's body. "I'm... s...o...rry...."
"No... I'm sorry for not being able to protect either of us... I'm... sorry... Gomennasai..." Katashi leaned down to press his forehead against his brother's head, whispering softly. "Gomennasai..."
Envy stared down at the twins, silent as ever. And then stepped forward once again, beginning to walk a little faster. A gentle hand was placed at the top of Katashi's head, the elder Gemini twin flinching as the creature knelt down to do so.
"Please... do it quickly..."
"I enjoy the chase more than I like the killing, baka neko." Envy grabbed Katashi by the hair and pulled him away, pulling him back with an easy tug. This initially caused panic in the elder twin, but was soon silenced as he fell limp against the ground. The dying younger twin, flinched, reaching out to his brother, his breathing getting worse.
"Kata...shi...!" he weakly called out, tears pouring heavier down his cheeks. "Ka...ta...sh...i...!" His clawed hand trembled with horror, pain, fear and weakness. The creature of Envy put a soft hand over the younger twin's eyes and softly hushed him.
With their other hand, they raised their wrist and bit down hard enough to cause blood to come out, slowly trailing down their wrist.
"Stupid cats... You never are easy to deal with."
The younger twin's weak whimpers were nothing but his brother's name, his entire body weakly trembling. Eventually, after soft whines of pain, the trembling stopped and he went silent.
Standing up, their work being done, they moved to grab the still figure of the elder twin and then pick up the younger in their arms. At first walking, then speed walking. The speed walking turned into a jog, which transformed into a run. The run eventually became a sprint until they were close to the living quarters of the city.
There, once close enough to a heavily populated area, Envy set the twins down, laying them down in such a way that it almost seemed like they were sleeping. Close to each other, wrapped in the other's arms, the Gemini twins were as close as they normally were.
Wiping the blood of of their body, the creature of Envy shifted forms and walked away, trotting as a ginger tabby cat towards one of the populated areas of Tokyo.
For the first time in their life, they felt their heart beat.
This is a small one-shot based on a small idea that I got for my roleplay "The Signs of the Zodiac". This isn't canon to the role-play universe, at least, I hope it won't., much like the one-shot above this one.
The main character of interest is Kenzy Sakura, the embodiment of Envy, a part of the Seven Deadly Sins, seemingly unkillable creatures of major destruction, born with their abnormal abilities and looks, their true forms being that of one not quite human. It is his job as the embodiment of Envy to wipe out those whom are a part of the Thirteen Zodiacs and reign upon a world of suffering that they may create however they please.
Before the events of this one-shot, the embodiment of Pride had came across the Gemini Twins alone and mortally wounded one of them. This is where Envy comes into play. Once again, the ending is up to your own imagination and is a personal interpretation.

"Smile-san~" a cute voice cheered upon seeing him. Tilting his head, he gave a bright grin and a chuckle, giving a two-fingered wave at the small blonde figure. His hands want back in the pockets of his pants, his soft amber eyes looking down at the small figure. That wasn't his name, 'Smile-san' or anything similar. Far from it. He had an actual Japanese name, believe it or not.
"Yo, chibi~" he replied with a small wink and grin. "You appear to have been busy."
A chuckle little laugh emitted from the small figure, the little blonde looking like he belonged in elementary school. Large, adorable brown eyes, soft honey-colored blonde hair and a childishly small figure as well as voice, there was nothing about Chiba Shou that brought you alarm at first, if he was pulling his innocent and cute act. But it didn't take long at all to see past that mask.
"Chibi, huh? How rude..." the boy's voice turned cold and sinister in the matter of seconds, his cute demeanor completely changing to a dark and dangerous creature, the little demon that he really was on the inside.
"Oh? Did I offend ya? My bad, really..." Akito rubbed the back of his head with a hearty laugh escaping his lips. He didn't seem even worried as he looked at the shadows forming around him. He closed his right eye as he grinned. "Didn't mean it! Haha... so, you know, I read somewhere that we're supposed to all befriend you guys and then everything would be happy."
His own shadow formed and grew around him, the cold ink-like blackness curling around his legs. Not even a shiver down his spine for a reaction or the slightest flinch.
"You think that we could do that? I mean, I know that Tadashi is supposed to be the one to be your friend, but hey, I'm not that bad of company am I?" He held up his hand to stop Shou before he could speak, his small little mouth opening. A small chuckle escaped him as he interrupted him. "Nah, don't answer that. I already know your answer."
The area around the two seemed to get darker and darker.
"After all, when you killed them, you gave up your chances, didn't you?" His voice dropped an octave, his grin suddenly seemed dark and sinister in the midst of the dark that threatened to engulf the shadows as much as the forms of the two. In the blink of an eye, it cleared up and Akito gave another hearty laugh. "Gemini were always such great jokesters, you know? I miss them a lot. Sagittarius' smile was really the brightest thing, brighter than the sun. I find it kinda funny how he never gave up on you and believed that you could be a friend to us, even as you killed him. He had a beautiful smile on his face, even in death. Poor Scorpio... he didn't even see it coming. You like backstabbing, don't you?"
The shadows wrapped around his arms and ran up his back. Yet, funny enough, they really couldn't seem to force him to bend or move, no matter how hard they gripped him. He raised an eyebrow as the little blonde seemed to be getting a little frustrated.
"Hmm? Oh, you wanted me to move? Why didn't 'cha say so?" He grinned as he moved his hand out of his pocket and pulled his out. Shou didn't seem amused. "Wow, tough crowd, huh? I got plenty of jokes and puns. Wasting time here with you seems like it'll take a while, so might as well make it a little entertaining, right?"
"You seem to forget that my shadows-"
"What shadows? You can't have shadows if there's no light." A cheeky wink and casual shrug followed that statement. In that moment, it seemed that Shou noticed that around the other zodiacs, were veils of darkness that he couldn't get through. This seemed to upset him, much to Akito's amusement. "What's with the long face? Oh wait..."
His expression lost all comfort upon it, the darkness covering over him and making that smile similar to Cheshire Cat's, a creepy addition to it as he glared down at the small figure of Pride the Arrogant.
"I can't make that joke anymore, can I?" Smiling in a warm manner like the flip of a switch, he rocked on his feet a bit, leaning forward with a cheerful hum leaving him. He stopped a bit and his smile dropped ever so slightly as he looked down at the small figure in amusement, hearing those small footsteps forward. "Oh? You want to challenge me? And here I thought we could relax a little. Do me a favor and count how many times for me. I seem to lack how to speak Japanese numbers after thirteen."
"You're talking in riddles. How stupid and childish." Sticking out his tongue with another wink and shrug, tilting off to the side, similar to how the twins did when they were teasing someone, he gave a chuckle. "Are you trying to remind me of something?"
"Nah. Just enjoying myself." The shadows tried to move around him, as he looked down at the small figure of Shou, grinning with the warmest smile he could come up with. "Aw, you really are trying to kill me... no fun, are you?" "Get out of my way." Shou glared up at him.
"Oh! Aggressive! How scary!" Akito seemed to be pouting instead of actually being frightened, even giving a bit of a fake wail. He looked up at the moon that lit up the sky, his hands in his pockets. However, in less time that it took for a mouse's heart-beat, he could feel the air shift around him, towards him. Yawning, he side-stepped with a bored expression, looking down at the small figure, grinning even more at his surprise and frustration. "What? You expected me to stand there and look pretty while you tried to stab me? Tsk... you've grown soft since you killed Kohaku, haven't you?" "Don't think that scum like you can even think of talking to me in such a way," Shou snarled. With gleeful chuckles, he avoided every attack and every attempt to grab him, the shadows being far too slow to catch up with him or accurately get close to him. Suddenly, in something of a blur, he somehow got directly in front of the blonde, bending down face-to-face with an amused, sly look on his face.
"Boo," Akito whispered as he raised his hand and flicked the boy in the chest, sending him flying quite a few meters away. The male straightened up, his eyes widening as a golden hue came to them, giving an impressed sound. "Ooohh! So that's what he meant by the momentum carrying through physical touch! Haha! Score for Cancer! Yaho!"
As he gave a little jump of victory and excitement, a shadow decided to sneak around behind him and try to get him from behind while he was seemingly distracted, excited over the new ability that had been granted from the Celestial Being he was born under. Quick and moving in a blur, he dodged the attack without a second thought, his excitement fading to a flat look on his face as he looked down at Shou, whom was wincing as he got up.
"Oi, oi... let me be excited at being one of those stupidly over-powered anime characters in the cliche final battle," Akito sighed with a small annoyed sigh. He waved off another attack, ducking under the attempt to grab him with a casual look, as if this was nothing. There was no care that this seemed to be angering Pride. "Hmm... that is getting annoying, though... Oh! I have an idea! Let me just get adjusted while you get your bones and insides back in one piece."
A snap of his fingers and everything went black around them, the environment being turned pure black. In his eyes as well as Shou's, they were the only things in this black matter of a space. The seventeen year old seemed to be in a bit of awe, impressed with himself. His wonder was soon interrupted as he watched Shou try to desperately make shadows or command the darkness around him.
"Ah... I have no will-power or desire to fight... so I enclosed us both in a black space of darkness. And you and I... we'll be here until we both die of age." Akito sat down, propping his knee up with a small sigh, looking at the other with a bored expression. The dark circles under his eyes clearly shown, even more with the golden hue to his eyes.
"You'll tire eventually. You're mortal, you have to eat at some point." This caused the male to raise an eyebrow and then gave a heart-felt laugh, which turned more and more obnoxious as he laughed, like what was said was the funniest thing he had ever heard. "You really are stupid." The reddish brown hair male wiped a tear away from his eye and then gave a bright grin.
"You're right, you're right. Even so, my body's made to last a while without such a thing. Is your tiny body able to do the same?" A thought came across his mind and he gave a small sigh, shaking his head as he slowly stood up. There seemed to be an annoyingly arrogant look in the small eighteen year old's eyes as he stared up at Akito. "Ah... you can't die to anything but pressure, electricity and fire... that's right."
"Stupid scum like you are the reason the world needs to be purged." For some reason, he only smiled brighter at the insult, as if it were the best compliment that he had heard. A little giggle of a laugh was even given. "Disgusting."
"Say... do you think... we could just be friends...? I know that deep down, a part of your natural within your powers remembers those days..." Shou's glare seemed to be going straight through him as he spoke, as if he were nothing but a pest in his way, buzzing annoyingly around his head. "How we were all friends? I know you know of that too. C'mon Shou... I know somewhere deep down, you don't want to do this, you didn't want anyone to die or get hurt."
Extending his hand, he gave a soft look and smile.
"What do you say, pal? Give up the fighting and we can go get ice cream," Akito stated with a smile that could seem to rival that of Hotaru's, tilting his head as he did so with a small little chuckle. Shou's eyes seemed to be tearing up and he charged forward to grab his hand.
"I'm s-sorry!" the small male cried out. Akito smiled and bowed his head onto the blonde's shoulder, resting his forehead on the small bone frame, bending down to hug him close. "I'm so sorry! A-Akito-chan I'm sorry!"
"Shh... just close your eyes... it's all over now..." he murmured softly in a gentle whisper, closing his eyes. However, without any warning, he shoved the eighteen year old away and encased him in a bubble of water, his eyes hardening with a cruel smile on his lips.
"G o t o h e l l ." The water pressure was increased more and more, as if two walls were closing on on the poor boy, though it came from every angle, his silent screams being unheard by anyone, not even Akito as he watched, willing the pressure to increase more and more with each passing second.
"You're past forgiveness. You should have gone to Tadashi if you wanted to be saved. I'm not Leo, I'm Cancer. And I will kill you for them," the seventeen year old closed his open palm, letting the pressure become that of a deadly amount without any remorse or pity for the small figure caught in the pain of the trap. "Kishida Hotaru. Nekiyuko Katashi. Nekiyuko Satoshi. Kitamura Kohaku. Kikuchi Ren. Chiharu Aika. Aoikyo Hikari. Shimura Keiji. Kurosawa Hideki. Remember these names when you go b u r n i n h e l l ."
The water was let splashed down upon the ground with the small form. A look of disgust crossed his face as he put his hands into his pockets with a shake of his head. He paused for a second there, looking down at the final look of pure fear on the being's face. Clicking his tongue he bent down and closed the eighteen year old's eyes, kneeling down for a few seconds.
"Funny... thirteen times... or did I miscount? Ah... well... it's over now, Chiba-kun. Rest well, you f i l t h y m u r d e r e r ." Akito murmured and got up, going to walk away, all energy seeming to be drained from him. He looked down at his hands and flexed them, giving a small whine of complaint as he started to go back towards the others. "Aw... it's too bad... I was hoping to use this for more than one hit."
A blur of motion would be to anyone's eyes as he side-stepped with a yelp.
"W h a t m a k e s y o u t h i n k I ' m d o n e w i t h y o u ?" a distorted voice came from behind him. Turning, he saw the shadowy form of the blonde creature. A small sigh escaped him in annoyance, taking a hand out of his pocket. "You're gonna have to try a little harder than t h a t ."
With ease, he dodged a shadowy attack and stuck out his tongue, closing his right eye with a small shrug, as if mocking the very being in front of him. He raised his eyebrows a bit and gave a chuckle. "Looks like I was a little lazy, eh? Ah, well... you think Tadashi will let me off the hook just this once?"
A snap of his fingers and they were in a world of darkness once more.
"You forget... I can take advantage of your abilities. A shadow cannot form without light, and here, there is only darkness." Akito's tone was casual as he walked towards the small blonde. The small figure, however, was suspiciously still as he came closer.
A blur of motion and he dodged with ease, though a bit of surprise passed his face this time. Somehow he had managed to get a branch and sharpen the point to a very dangerous tip. What a smart little fellow.
"No wonder you're the top of your little gang! You act fast!" the incarnation of Cancer hummed in wonder, showing actual interest and curiosity towards the male. In a motion of a blur, he was right there in front of the blonde, however, grinning down at him with the terrifying grin he had earlier as he pulled his arm back. "But are you fast enough?"
The punch landed directly on the boy's head, the movement not even able to be seen by his own eyes, the eighteen year old flying across the blank space with a yelp. For a second there, Akito paused. Before he knew it, he was jumping back with another little shriek as the point nearly got his stomach.
"Persistent, aren't you?" he asked. His opponent was no longer in the talking mood, which made his face fall flat again with a small sigh. "Pity... I was hoping to have a little chat while we fought and stalled more and more. I wonder how Tadashi's doing...?"
Dodge and swing. Side-step and kick. Duck and elbow. Bend and knee.
It repeated over and over and over. Akito would land a deadly attack, Shou would get right back up and attempt to kill him. The seventeen year old would dodge and then attack again, using various forms of fighting techniques. Unfortunately, one of them was more physically strong than the other.
Sweat began to form around Akito's face and his chest began to heave a bit more as he stared at Shou, waiting for him to get up again. It was an endless cycle, but he had been hoping to get the little brat at least sworn out. He hadn't even broken a sweat.
"Man... you really are something else... Is this what being on a sleep schedule does? If so, sign me up! I need to get me one of those." His laugh was a little out of breathe and he gave a little chitter as he leapt back to avoid being cut, the pointed tip cutting open his black shirt. "Aw... dude... I liked this shirt... Now I'll have to get another one... what a pain..."
As Shou leapt to attack again, Akito have a small hum and pointed his hand at the blonde, whom stopped dead in his tracks. It wasn't water that appeared, but rather, a dark beam of energy that worked as good as a laser.
"Oh... that looks like it hurt. Need some time to heal on that?" he asked, blinking a bit with a bit of a small chuckle. "Ah... but if you can do that, then there isn't much use for me to use the moon's light like that..."
"Idiot." The seventeen year old blinked and seemed to be delighted at the other speaking finally again, giving a gleeful clap. "They're from the sun."
"Ah, not so! It changes when reflected on the moon's surface, so it becomes my ability, not Tadashi's! How fun that you picked to attack at night!" Akito cheered with a grin as he willed another beam of energy towards the small figure, who just dodged without even blinking. The zodiac cleared his throat and blinked rapidly at that. "Well. Then... you appear to be learning quickly, huh...? I guess that means I should wrap this up. Wouldn't want to leave you in the dark over my full potential. I'm getting dog-gone tired and you wouldn't want to see me crabby would you?" Shou looked so unamused that it hurt Akito's soul.
"C'mon, you gotta admit that they're good for coming up with them on the spot!" Akito whined.
"Not a chance," Shou quickly shut him down.
"Tough crowd indeed... I guess I gotta try a little harder with this last bit, eh?" he hummed. "Alright, if you could die, that'd be great. I'm seriously getting worn down."
No response.
"Aw... just when I thought we were getting somewhere. We had a connection, Shou! You were doing so well!" the eighteen year old whined. Still, the small figure was silent as stone and just attacked without another sound.
Ruthless and without pause, Akito had dashed forward to attack again and again with everything last willpower he had. He used every fighting moved he had been taught, every last bit of energy he had within him to use the moon's beams against the little brat. He didn't let the boy even get back up before attacking, his skin getting stained black quickly. But even then as he did one final kick with Shou going away.. his body was trembling, his heart racing. Sweats soaked his clothes and dripped down his face, completely out of breath, heaving to pull air in and out of his chest.
"Alright..." huff, puff... "... that's enough of that... I'm... gonna make sure.." huff, puff "... you can't do anything..."
A trembling hand lifted up and summoned all the water he could to trap Pride in a dark bubble of water. He bowed he head, trying to catch his breath, completely out of energy as he stood there.
"I can't..." huff, huff "... crush you with this..." huff puff "... little energy... but now... you can't escape..."
Shou was silent, sitting in the water. Even if he had said anything, he wouldn't have been able to be heard, the space being soundproof. Akito's eyes were dulled from lack of energy, the dark circles under his eyes almost making him look like he had black eyes.
"So... since we're just... standing here..." Akito gave a small groan and he cracked his back, and then cracked his arms, slowly catching his breath. "... let's use up all the jokes that I know..."
Shou look mortified.
"What do you call a pile of kittens? A meow-tain." "What does a skeleton tile his roof with? Shin-gles." "Why can't a skeleton be a good miner? Because he only goes six feet under." "Why is a ghost a bad liar? You can see right through him." "How do you get rid of a Italian ghost? You got to a-pizza her." "Why did the skeleton know the weather? He could feel it in his bones." "Why was the skeleton cold? He was chilled to the bone." "Circuses are really in-tents." "What was Forrest Gump’s email password? 1forrest1" "What did the cell say to his sister when she stepped on his foot? Mitosis." "Some aquatic mammals at the zoo escaped. It was otter chaos." "Why can't you trust stairs? Because they're always up to something." "What did the grape say when it got crushed? Nothing, it just let out a little wine." "Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon? I heard the food was good but it had no atmosphere." "I had a joke about murder that would’ve really killed but I’m sure you’re all sick to death of those." "Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He's all right now." "I'd tell you a chemistry joke but I know I wouldn't get a reaction." "Why don't some couples go to the gym? Because some relationships don't work out." "Have you ever tried to eat a clock? It's very time consuming." "Did you hear about the guy who got hit in the head with a can of soda? He was lucky it was a soft drink." "Why can't you stop reading a book about anti-gravity? Because it's impossible to put down."
This went on. And on. And on.
Until slowly, Akito's words became more and more slurred until finally, silence came over him and the poor trapped soul within the water. Akito's eyes fought to stay open, but eventually they began to close and he head drooped slightly as his mouth opened. His shoulders relaxed and he had done something he hadn't done in a very, very long time.
Akito had fallen asleep.
The rush of air woke him up and his tired eyes snapped wake as he saw Shou jump out at him, his will weakening from the lack of sleep and letting the eighteen year old escape the water prison. With a last minute rush of speed, a gold tint still to his eyes, he gave a grin and a small laugh as he moved away.
"Ohh! A sleeping attack! How dirty... but smart since you almost got me-"
There was a lot of pain. A blinding amount of pain through his chest. Coughing weakly and giving a bit of a groan in pain, he fell to his knees, the world spinning around him, the color of the real world coming back around him, red and gold being spilled down upon the grass beneath him.
He fell down on his side and saw Shou scowl at another figure. Who... was that again?
"Took you long enough. I should have known better," Shou hissed, clearly angry.
"Gomennasai!" the higher pitched voice stated with a childish cry. He almost... reminded Akito of Hotaru. How ironic for him to die from such a person... when the person he had wanted to protect most was Hotaru...
"Ah... is that a knife?" the seventeen year old wheezed. The taller individual tilted his head and knelt down in front of the dying zodiac with a curious look. "What's your name?"
"It is!" The individual stated cheerfully. "I'm Suzuki Yoshiki!"
"D o n o t - "
Akito gave a bright grin and a weak cough his breathing growing shallow. "It was... knife... to meet you... Suzuki-kun..." he murmured in his last breath, closing his eyes with a satisfied smile on his lips.
Tadashi... Natsumi... Haru... I failed you... I hope I gave you all enough time to escape... Please... live on.
This is a small one-shot based on a small idea that I got for my roleplay "The Signs of the Zodiac". This isn't canon to the role-play universe, at least, I hope it won't., much like the one-shots above this one.
The main character of interest is Morita Akito, the incarnation of the zodiac sign of Cancer the Crab. He's a witty and funny type of guy. While he's not a real character in the role-play, he's still one that I like to envision. In a time-line where nearly all of the zodiacs have been killed, he stands up as a last effort to keep the remaining three alive and stall enough to let them get away. To do this, he tricks them into having an ability to get back to them that the original Celestial Being, Cancer, gave him. However, this is just a lie to give the other three a chance to run away. He faces off with the leader of the Deadly Sins, Chiba Shou, whom is the embodiment of Pride the Arrogant, a creature of shadows and misery. While he can't actually defeat Shou, he gives it his best shot to find out his weakness and probably could have killed him if he applied just a little more pressure.
Unlike the other ones, the ending is definite in this one.
