Hopefully everyone is acquainted with this concept.
Now, who could be considered star crossed lovers in this series? The most obvious one is BramblexSquirrel. They literally spelled it out in Sunset. A few others could include FirexSand and LionxCinder.
But what if there was more than one type of star crossed lovers? Typically when one thinks of star crossed lovers, they imagine a happy couple who spends the rest of their days together. But there could be other reasons why a relationship was destined to happen.
Can anyone think of a ship that was very important for reasons other than the couples happiness? (I feel like a teacher.) That's right. CrowxLeaf. The relationship itself wasn't important, but the results of it were. Crow and Leaf were destined to be together just so they could have those kits. And this seems to be the case with TigerxDove.
The big difference between CrowxLeaf and TigerxDove was that Crow and Leaf left on their own. Tiger and Dove needed not just one push, but many. These pushes came in the form of dreams and omens. Yes, that includes Dovewing's dream. She didn't have this dream just once, but many times. I know some people claim it was foolish that she took that dream so seriously, but I say hogwash. She'd be foolish not to take it seriously. Dovewing is a Clan cat and one of the Three on top of it. Dreams are pretty darn serious in her universe. A reoccurring dream that says her kits would be in danger if she stays in ThunderClan is pretty serious. She had to listen to that dream and act on it.
But there's a catch. Dovewing couldn't leave by herself. As shown throughout TS, Dovewing enjoyed life with the city cats. If she was by herself, it was very likely that she would have stayed there forever. Tigerheart needed to go too. However, he was harder to convince. So StarClan sent the omen to Puddleshine. But no one understood the first one, so a second was sent. Tigerheart understood this one and left.
They didn't hear from StarClan until the kits were ready to leave. When they returned, they not only brought back lost warriors but fresh blood as well. It was also possible that the guardians who came back with them wouldn't have gone if Tiger and Dove returned earlier.
This is the sum of my argument. TigerxDove are star crossed lovers not because they would be happy (although they seem it), but because their journey to the city would bring back the necessary numbers needed to rebuild ShadowClan. Not to mention Shadowkit, who seems destined to be a medicine cat. They did not act like spoiled teenagers as some have said. They followed the signs given to them by StarClan and left the Clans. That was the brave and mature thing to do, not ignore the omens and continue to meet in secret.
