Okay so here's my thread... Nothing real fancy or anything.
This is my thread for my story for A.M's writing contest. The prompt is that you see in black and white until you meet you're soulmate, and then it returns to black and white once your soulmate dies.

CHAPTER ONE:
All my life, I've only seen black and white. It takes a whole new meaning to good versus bad, dark versus light, love versus hate. Everyone else around me would talk about how they had started to see color, and how it was the most amazing thing anyone could ever experience...second only to true love.
I never cared for color. Why yearn after something you'll never have?
See, my story...it's not like the others. I didn't just stumble across my soulmate and instantly fall in love. No, my soulmate died. I met him when we were young, at first I didn't know it was him but then we continued to play together.
That's when I saw blue.
It was the sky, the sea, my dress, his eyes.
It was beautiful.
However that was it. By dinner I was telling my mom all about the amazing shades of blue; by night I was asking why the blue had turned to gray. By the next day, it was gone completely.
I still remember what it looked like, and every now and then I wonder what other colors were like too, but I'd never know. Because my soulmate had died.
Moving on was something I had to do, because by the end of the day you can't mourn over a lost opportunity while letting all the others pass you by.
Years passed and I forgot about the little boy with the big blue eyes. Everyone around me would happily talk about their soulmates, the colors they saw. I didn't mind. I never really knew what colors were like anyways.
Eventually, I found someone else. A handsome man named Gage, who had entered my life by accident...he actually accidentally ran over my cat.
Don't worry, Marshmallow was fine.
He was worried sick and felt completely horrible about it. Even though the cat was fine, mostly just shocked.
After that, everything just...fell into place. Gage had lost his soulmate too, we were two peas in the same pod, and really I think that's what officially bonded us.
We've been together for three years now, and it was perfect. We had our own little apartment, our small group of friends, and our weekly game nights where Marshmallow always chose to beg for attention while we played.
I was happy, he was happy, and everything was perfect.
That is, at least, until the stupid pizza delivery boy got involved.
-
It was game night and Cadie for one, was looking forward to kicking Gage's butt this time. He said that wouldn't happen, but Cadie was sure.
"Are you ready to get beaten so hard Gage?" She asked teasingly as she placed the snacks down at the table.
Her boyfriend looked up from where he sat by the couch and laughed lightly, a spark in his eyes. "Oh I think you're confused Cadie-dear, because I'm gonna win this thing so bad," he said as Marshmallow walked on over.
The fat cat looked up at her owners, deciding that tonight was the night she wanted affection and began rubbing against Cadie's legs who brought the pint of ice cream over to the coffee table, nearly tripping over her cat.
"Marshmallow!" She said, placing the food down and picking her up. "You tried to trip me on purpose, didn't you?" Cadie asked as she brought the hefty cat up to meet her eyes.
Silence, and then... "Mrow." Marshmallow reached a fat paw up and bopped Cadie's nose.
Cadie laughed and sat down, running her hand along the cat's back. "Alright fine, you win this time."
Right then the doorbell rang and neither of the two got up, making it ring again.
"Dedi, that sounded like the door," Gage said as he set the game up.
Cadie nodded along absentmindedly. "Yes, it did," she said, making no move to get up and answer it. She answered the door last time, it was his turn. Besides, she had a cat to love.
Gage looked up for a second. "One of us should probably get it..."
"Yep."
More silence followed before the doorbell rang and Gage gave her a pointed look.
Cadie sighed and got up, placing Marshmallow down on the couch. "Alright fine, I'll answer it. But you have to answer it next time, okay?" She asked, giving her boyfriend a rather strict look.
He nodded and waved her off absentmindedly as he went back to setting the game up. "Sure Cadie, sure."
She made her way over to the door, opening it up to reveal a rather perky looking pizza delivery guy waiting in the doorway. "Hello there! I was beginning to wonder if no one was home..." He confessed sheepishly.
Cadie chuckled slightly. "No, sorry for any confusion, here let me take that off your hands..." She said and grabbed the pizza boxes from him. "How much will this be?" She questioned as she quickly put the pizzas down on the small table by the door, pulling out her wallet.
"About ten will be fine," the pizza boy said and Cadie quickly handed over the money. "Heh, thanks for finally coming to the door, my arms were getting tired there," he joked.
Cadie looked at him and smiled along. "Oh yes, it must have been very tiring," she joked as well. Looking him over. "Well, thanks for the food; you pizza delivery guys are the real heroes you know," she said lightly.
The man laughed. "Ah yes, I'm like Superman...but with pizza....I'm Superpizza!" He exclaimed happily and Cadie couldn't help but giggle slightly. He was pretty funny.
"Well Superpizza, I'm sure you have other people to save from hunger," she said and waved goodbye to him. "It was nice to meet you though, say what was your name?" She asked with a tilt of her head and the delivery boy turned to look at her with a grin.
"Ayan, it's like Ryan, but with an A instead of an R," he explained and Cadie paused. That name was so vaguely familiar, as if she had heard it somewhere before...."And does the lovely lady have a name too?" He asked.
Cadie was pulled out of her thoughts by his question. "Yeah, you can call me Cadie."
Ayan gave a nod. "Alright then Cadie, I hope we can meet again sometime," he said, with a rather mischievous look in his eyes, as if he knew something that Cadie didn't. However before she could question him, he had walked off.
"Dedi, you coming?"
Cadie turned her attention away from the door as her boyfriend called her back. "Yeah, good news! Pizza has arrived!" Cadie called out to him as she picked up the boxes and brought them over to the table.
Only to drop them in disbelief as she looked at the TV.
For it was no longer black like usual...
No, the TV was a sickeningly familiar color.
The color of the sky, the sea, her shirt, his eyes.
The TV was blue.

Also I know it's pretty short right now...don't worry though, the next chapter will hopefully be longer.

Oh my gosh....that ending! I love the idea of already losing your soulmate, moving on selflessly, not needing to see color anymore being content with just being loved. But I especially love the mystery here...is Ayan the same boy she thought "died" as a child? If so, what really happened to him? Is he an entirely new person? Great job!
