Oooh, that doesn't sound good,
After going through Harvey, and getting a refresher on what hurricanes are like, I'm worried for the eastern coast. It looks like Irma's going to pound it pretty hard. Hopefully nothing to bad happens!!

Hopefully nothing to bad happens!! i'm sure it'll be bad a lot of areas that were super badly impacted by Matthew in NC are listed as places where Irma's supposed to hit badly some areas around home for me haven't fully recovered after Matthew yet since we're Really rural and don't receive a lot of outside help if any at all

I hope your family evacuates! I don't think anyone needs to sit around and try to wait this one out. Especially if it's a category 5 already. (I hope I misheard that it's a cat 5 already because I feel like just yesterday it was cat 3)

My mom is on the coast of NC too (on one of the sounds, not the outer banks) and if the area floods, her house definitely would, because in the past category 1 hurricanes have brought the flood water up to her top porch step (just short of flooding the inside of her house).
I was supposed to go out there for a visit last year when Matthew hit, and had to cancel my trip because the roads in were flooded (as was Greenville, which is where we stay when we go out there).
I'm supposed to go out there next month. I really don't want a hurricane to cancel my trip again, but more importantly, I don't want my mom to lose everything, so I selfishly hopes it hits somewhere in the gulf if it HAS to hit the US at all.
