hello, hello, I probably shouldn't be doing this with my busy work schedule but I've found myself short of roleplays and I desperately need a creative outlet so...this will be a plotting page for a potential witch rp. If I can garner enough interest, that is.
Let me say right off the bat that I'd like this to be a small group thing, say with 2 or 3 other people because I literally cannot handle big groups without getting overwhelmed and it'll be easier to form a closeknit little rp group this way. I'm hoping we can all be friends as well as rp partners! >v< I'm looking for detailed writers, so if writing bigger posts and complex characters isn't your thing, than this is probably not for you. Activity is important, of course, tho I won't be too upset if you're gone for a day or two...or three since that might happen to me. However, for longer absences, I'd appreciate a notice.
I basically have the overall plot figured out, but I'd like to juggle ideas and see where that takes us. This is vaguely vaguely inspired by Pandora Hearts and the intense feels train that it is, so if anyone is familiar with that I will love forever. but here's my word vomit straight from my documents that basically has all of my ideas:
- Victorian-esque, takes place in a fictional city akin to Victorian London. City is called Belhaven btw.
- Witches- two “rival” covens that rule separate sectors of the city, like gangs?
The Cranes vs Herons
o Friendly rivalry is shattered by the mysterious death of one important member of one of the covens at the annual Halloween (they call it All Hallows Eve) gala (this is where we start)
. Being the most sacred holiday to witches, All Hallows Eve is the one night where both covens and rogues gather together to celebrate the year.
o Basically a Montague vs Capulet situation from there. The best example I can think of
lmao
o The city is separated via magic borders that make it impossible for a witch from the other coven to cross without permission (this is where espionage in the form of witch hunters or rogue witches could come into play?)
tho there is a slice of neutral territory in the middle of the borders
- Members of each coven are not necessarily blood related; they are initiated into one of their choosing on their 17th birthday, when they are considered adults and have full access to their powers.
o Some choose not to be initiated and as such are looked down upon and largely ignored in witch society as “rogues”
- All witches possess basic healing abilities, telekinesis, shielding, and glamour/cloaking charms. Everything else must be learned/taught or, in temporary cases, potions or tonics can serve as spells
o However, some witches possess unique abilities they are born with and cannot be learned by others (ex: telepathy, premonitions, etc)
- Some witches have familiars that provide protection and assistance as well as enhancing the magic power of their masters
o Familiars are people that can take the form of a single animal
o Are granted new names upon being contracted; their old ones are essentially erased and never used
- Witches blend into society, hidden among normal humans. The covens may “rule” the city, but only in the supernatural world and it’s entirely unknown to humans
o However, coven feuds escalate to the point where both rogue witches and humans get entangled
o Human witch hunters?
Most of the characters should be affiliated with the Cranes/Herons for plot progression but a rogue witch or two and eventually hunters can come into play.
My (pov) characters:
Penelope Crane - 21 - youngest daughter of the Crane coven, has a white rabbit familiar oddly named Pumpernickle
Stella Glass - 25 - aristocrat and simple member of the Heron coven, has the gift of precognition
Cygnus - 26 - Stella's familiar, a black swan
Sasha Kazanov - 20 - witch hunter, won't come into play until later
if you have any questions please let me know. ^^;
