okay, so yesterday i had a bit of a story idea. felt awesome considering ive been stuck in writer's block for quite some time.
i wrote down all this pseudoscience stuff to start worldbuilding, but the only problem is... i have no idea what to name the universe, which is a huge problem, considering it's what the entire story will be centered around.
for now its placeholder is [???]
so! if you would be interested in helping me name it, please continue reading!
[???]: a slip in the multiverse theory; if an alternate universe exists for every possible outcome of every choice or chance, then a universe can exist where the Big Bang did not form into a vast array of galaxies, but instead generated an infinite expanse of raw energy that continues to slowly expand. Due to this "deformity," the laws of physics (as we know them) also do not exist here. Many other universes, but not all, cross through this one as timestreams due to rips in the time-space continuum, presumably by black holes or unethical time travel. It is unknown whether or not these timestreams have crossed through since the Big Bang, or if they occurred over time.
TIMESTREAM: Timestreams would appear to the human eye as a hot, bright, white beam of light. An unfathomable number of these beams cross through [???]. They allow spirits to travel easily in between universes - once they manage to gain access to the [???] timestream. Due to the laws of physics in most other universes, it is considered impossible to return to [???] once you have left, because the timestream is inaccessible in nearly every universe. If anyone were to return somehow, it would likely cause another rip and introduce a new, unstable timestream.
A timestream contains the entire timeline of a universe. Time continues in a linear progression within the stream, and future events still exist although they have not occurred yet. (Sort of like unlocking video game content.) As time progresses, excess energy is released from the stream, created by the events taking place. The emotions of thousands of species and the explosions of stars generate a phenomenal amount of energy.
When a surge of energy from two or more timestreams collides in [???], tiny balls of energy are formed. The force of the collision causes them to rocket off into random timestreams until they collide into something and the universe absorbs the energy again. If it is heavily saturated by emotional energy, it will most likely collide into a human.
The human body will then seize and fall into a coma upon absorbing all of this energy. These comas usually last for two weeks, during which they do not need life support - their brain is undergoing changes too fast for it to comprehend, resulting in a complete overload of all functions except breathing. When the energy has finished safely settling into the brain, they will regain consciousness and an extra 5 to 10% of brain activity. This means they have new abilities, which can include (but are not limited to): telepathy, molecular manipulation, aura reading, enhanced memory, clairsentience, and mediumship.
thoughts?
if you cant think of a name suggestion but you'd like to critique my worldbuild, i'd be happy to hear feedback on that as well ^_^!
