Roselight turned to head back to camp, as a good warrrior ought to. However, her feet refused to move, and the truth of matter hit her. Why she had been nervous to leave camp alone ever since the first time they met. Why she didn't outright refuse him. Why she couldn't simply walk away from him. It all made sense now. Ohhh! How could this have happened! By the time he finished speaking, she whirled towards him and paused a hairsbreadth away from him. She shivered at their closeness. "I can't leave you..." she murmured, lowering her head.

(Hi!)
Yew was a bit surprised by Roselight's reaction to say the least. After taking a moment to pull himself together the tom pressed his muzzle against hers, purring. "Good, I don't think I could've stood here and watched you leave." He brushed up against her again, attempting to entwine their tails together. "So...what now?" The loner spoke softly despite his excitement, wondering what they were going to do.

A purr started to rumble from Roselight's throat, and she pressed herself against Yew as he brushed against her, her tail twining with his. Her worries melted away at his touch. "I'll come back. Any chance I get, I'll come and visit you. Whenever I am hunting alone, I can go to your den and find you from there." It would be easy enough; although they had only known each other for such a short amount of time, she knew his scent as well as any clan cat's by now.

Yew nodded, wishing he could keep her there though he understood that Roselight would have to go back home. He wanted to say he'd come and visit her, but that wouldn't end well for either of them. "Alright, that sounds good to me. Just don't get yourself in trouble." The loner purred, still shocked that Roselight wanted to be with him. "Are you sure you have to go so soon?"

Roselight pulled back and nodded slowly. "If I don't, one of them would be bound to notice my long absence. Especially since the last time," she added with a sparkle in her eye at the memory. It was humiliating at first, that she had been forced to stay at Yew's den, but the memory was one she'd never forget. She took a few steps away from him, her heart growing heavier with each step, but she knew if she remained close to him, she'd never be able to leave his side. Pausing she glanced back at him, studying his expression.

"You know where to find me, stay safe. Don't stay away for too long!" That was the best he could do. Well, that may have been one of the many reasons why Yew spent so much time alone. Yew called out to Roselight, watching her pad away with the closest thing to a frown he was a capable of plastered on his face. It wasn't very often that Yew showed any real emotion other than getting angry when someone came to bother him, but this latest run-in with Roselight wasn't the kind of thing that happened to him very often. Today was a good day so far for the big bumbling yellow goof.

Roselight laughed at his concern. "I won't!" she called over her shoulder. "You be careful too!" Once he was out of view, she called out in joy. In her giddiness, she bounded back towards camp as if she was a playful kit. She had gone and fallen in love... How strange it was that such a thing could happen, and with a loner of all cats! She had always thought she would eventually draw close to one of the toms in the clan, but none of them felt the same as Yew did. She skidded to a stop as a thought occurred to her; she needed to bring some prey back to camp. She took a few minutes to track down a couple of mice. One got away. It could've been that she was a bit rusty at hunting after her recovery time, or it could've been the giddy excitement that kept distracting her thoughts, maybe even both. With mouse in jaws, she sprinted back to camp as if she was sprinting in the clouds. Near the camp, she slowed her pace, but her green eyes were still bright as she padded in through the entrance.

Yew watched as Roselight padded away, shaking his head as he thought about what had just happened. It wasn't everyday that he went out hunting and fell in love instead. Especially not with a clan warrior. It had seemed unlikely he was going to find someone like Roselight since he spent most of his time skulking around the forest alone, but there wasn't anyone else he would have wanted but her. His frown had faded, and the tom spent a few moments reflecting and grinning at nothing. Once he had pulled himself together again, Yew remembered that his belly was still empty and he set out looking for prey. Unlike his usual hunting trips, it didn't take long for Yew to come across a rather large and unsuspecting vole. A quick pounce and bite later and the tom sat down to enjoy his meal, deciding to take the easy meal as a good sign.

(Sure.)
The day passed quickly and Roselight circled the interior of her nest a couple times, making sure their weren't any thorns or other uncomfortable objects that might have escaped an unobservant apprentices eye. When she lay down to rest for the night, she wrapped her tail around her, so that it rested on top of her muzzle, hiding the smile that dwelt there. The last thoughts she had before sleep enveloped her was of the bumbling yellow tom with kind yellow eyes.
Light crept in as morning dawned. Roselight's nest was one of the closest nests to the entrance of the den, and she aroused to the light upon her eyelids. Her green eyes flashed open and she stood, shivering. Her pelt was frosty on the side closest to the entrance, and she thought that perhaps she was a bit too close to the entrance. "It wouldn't be so cold if he was with me..." she muttered under her breath. Stretching the cold from her muscles, she padded out of the warrior's den and into the morning air. It was a brisk morning, and Roselight had to constantly shift her paws to keep them warm. She glanced at the frozen remnants of the prey pile, and her ears perked. Yes, that was right, she was to visit Yew today. She padded out of the camp and sped up to a brisk walk. Prey was scarce, and unwilling to come out on this chilly morning, but Roselight had only one thought on her mind.

Yew woke up the same way he did almost every morning, slowly and with a number of loud grumbles and groans. He really wasn’t a fan of mornings, but it wasn’t like he could just lay about his den all day. Forcing his heavy eyes to stay open, the tom climbed up to his paws and made his way out of his den. The cold was never something that bothered him too badly, and it helped wake him up a bit quicker. Yew knew he couldn’t afford to be falling asleep today, he was supposed to see Roselight. Most days consisted of little more than hunting and making a few rounds of his den, but he spent a decent amount of time tidying up the place and grooming his scar-riddled pelt. He didn’t quite understand why Roselight would choose him over any of the clan toms, but he certainly didn’t mind.

Roselight found a semi-frozen squirrel in the snow below a thick tree on her way to Yew's den. The poor thing must've thought it was getting warmer and came out of hibernation only to freeze overnight. She picked it up and continued on her way until at last, she arrived. She scented it before she saw it. The den was filled with Yew's scent; he lived there after all, so it made sense that it would. She didn't call out to him, because she knew that with the squirrel in her jaws it would be difficult to say anything. Instead, she decided to peek inside his den.

Yew was slow to react to Roselight’s sudden appearance, grumbling something unintelligible before he realized who it was. “Hey Roselight, I see you brought prey.” The tom greeted her with a grin before brushing up against her pelt. The abandoned badger den that he had made his own was certainly large enough for the pair, and offered a nice break from the cold weather outside. It seemed he had even bothered to change out the moss of his rather large nest. “I hope you didn’t have any trouble getting out here.” While Yew was certain the warrior could hold her own against anything she might come across in the forest, he was rather worried about someone back in camp getting suspicious. “Feel free to lay down, you must be freezing.” He purred, brushing up against her again.

Roselight slipped into the den and set the squirrel down. "No trouble at all. I tend to get up early for hunting every morning, so the clan has come to expect it. Besides, it warms me up to be on the move." When Yew brushed against her, she let out a content sigh as warmth spread from his pelt to hers. She nuzzled his muzzle, before looking back down at the squirrel. She nudged the scrawny squirrel with a paw. "I know it's not much, and it's a bit frozen, but I thought you could get some use out of it." With a warm smile, she padded towards his nest. She circled it a few times, admiring the effort that seemed to be used in putting it all together. "Looks like you've been busy," she commented, seating herself to one side of the large nest, tucking her paws underneath her.

Yew crouched to take a few bites out of the squirrel while he listened to Roselight, glad to hear that nothing had gone wrong. Deciding to save the rest for later, the loner gave a goofy grin before plopping himself down in the nest around Roselight. “Thanks, I figured I should clean this place up if you were going to be here.” Yew purred as he adjusted himself so as not to lay on the pretty she-cat. “I wanted you to at least be comfortable while you’re here.” He mewed quietly, enjoying being so close to Roselight. Yew wasn’t sure what, if anything, she had planned by he was more than happy just to lay there with her for the time being.

Roselight smiled at his goofy grin as he came over, and she shifted over so that he could have more room to lay. She rested her head against his chest, and purred softly as they lay there. "I like this..." she murmured. It felt so right, even though in warrior standards, it would be totally wrong. But that didn't matter to her now. All that mattered was that she was here with Yew. "Yew?" she called softly after several moments of silence.

At first Yew only responded with a loud purr, happy to see that he wasn’t the only one who enjoyed being so close. Sure she was a warrior and it wasn’t the way he ever would have predicted things would go, but it was far better than the loner could have ever imagined. His ears pricked up when she called his name though, and he turned his head to face her as best he could. “What is it, Roselight?” He mumbled, trying to not get any fur caught between his jaws when he shut up again.

Roselight pulled her head up so it would be easier to look at him. "It's rather strange, you being a loner and I being a clan cat. However, I hardly even notice that difference anymore. I never thought there might be a way of life for me beyond clan life," she began, her green eyes distant and deep in thought. She kept trying to peice everything together; usually everything made such perfect sense to her, but... this was different. She shifted her gaze to Yew's so she could study his response to her statements, her eyes curious.

Yew looked a bit confused, although he was still smiling. "I don't think it's that strange, but...what are you trying to say Roselight?" No one ever said he was the best with words, or terribly bright. Was she trying to say she was thinking about leaving NightClan? Although that would certainly make things easier for the pair, Yew didn't really feel the need to push her to leave if she wanted to stay. After all, it would be pretty ridiculous for him to expect Roselight to just throw away her life and everyone she had grown up with just to be with him.

Roselight saw his confusion and realized how vague she was being. She gave the fur on her chest a few embarrassed licks, and the words just came tumbling out. When she was with a cat she didn't know that well, she never talked that much, but the closer she got to a cat, the more talkative she became. "I was just thinking... Some cats in the clan tend to say I think too much," she explained with a lift of her shoulders. "Sometimes it may be true, but in all honesty, sometimes I think I don't think enough. I'm glad you don't find us such a strange pair. I was wondering if I'd be strange for not paying as much attention to the titles, clan cat and loner. Some of the clan cats certainly would find it strange, and yet here we are, defying the odds," she finnished with a chuckle.

Yew purred, licking her cheek once she finished speaking. "I'm sure many of those clan cats would be angry to find out about this." It wasn't exactly a comforting thought, but he knew it was the truth. "I guess we are a bit of a strange couple when you think about it, but if being a little strange is the price I have to pay to be with you I don't mind." They were certainly not two cats anyone would expect to fall in love, especially considering how they first met. It didn't seem to be stopping them though. After a few moments of silence Yew piped up again. "Was there anything you wanted to do besides this?" Truth be told Yew wouldn't have minded staying like that all day, but he felt as though he should ask anyway.
