"Nothing," he answered stiffly. But inside he was bewildered by his own behavior. Curlyfur was being so nice, and he was just turning her away. "I've been...Doing really boring stuff," he added with a bit more cheerfulness.

"Just helping around the clan, that's exciting, in it's own way!"

"Hm. I guess so," he said. "But I've not been helping, exactly," he added with a muffled laugh, remembering the days' work with Echoscream.

Roselight stood in camp, staring at the camp entrance. Ever since her last meeting with a rogue, she had been much more hesitant to go out of camp alone. Her paw had healed up well, and now she could walk with barely a limp. Her hunting had improved back to exceptional standards since the sprain she had gotten in her fight with Yew. With a grunt, she stretched in attempt to make it seem as if she was busy doing something, and not simply standing and staring at the camp entrance.

Yew padded through the forest, his stomach growling as he searched for prey. Leaf-bare was always difficult for Yew. He let out a few short grunts since the cold was causing his joints to ache. The young tom was already starting to feel like an elder. As he though back to the NightClan cats he had encountered, a low growl rose from his throat. With so many cats around to pitch in, he figured they would be fine even if they were all poor hunters like himself. Yew's thoughts then turned toward Roselight. She was an excellent hunter, and probably the most interesting cat he had seen lately. Considering how often he ran into Clan cats it seemed strange that he hadn't seen her for so long. Maybe something happened, maybe her injury was worse than she thought.

Roselight's eyes narrowed, and she squared her shoulders. No, she woundn't cower pitifully within the camp, she would go. She hunted better alone anyways. That way there was no distractions. Taking a deep breath, she walked through the camp entrance and out into the wood beyond. A slight breeze ruffled her fur, calming her and her breathing returned to deep full breaths. What was she even afraid of..? It wasn't like there were rogues all over on their territory. Was it Yew that she was afraid of? A shiver passed through her, as she thought back. No, she wasn't afraid of him... She couldn't quite place a paw on what it could be. She paused, realizing she had travelled far enough from camp to check for signs of prey. She opened her jaws and tilted up her face to scent the air.

Lost in thought, Yew strayed from his usual path and started to wander. Realizing his mistake, the loner growled inwardly and forced any thought of Roselight out of his mind. What did it really matter to him if something had happened to her. She was just a warrior. A warrior who had been foolish enough to try and fight him no less. It was only another moment or so before he finally picked up a scent. It was familiar, but certainly not the prey Yew was searching for. It was Roselight. The tom unsheathed his claws, but spoke quietly as he approached. “Is that you Roselight?”

The scent was strong. Roselight closed her jaws and let out a deep sigh. That was when he spoke; a quiet voice. It was Yew... "Of all the cats I could have come across, I just had to come across you," Roselight snapped, her tail flicking low to the ground. She turned around to face him, and after a few moments, spotted his yellowish pelt in the underbrush. Her claws instinctively unsheathed.

The tom bumbled closer towards her. It seemed everything about him was designed to make Yew the least stealthy cat in the whole forest. A large frame, yellow pelt and big heavy paws meant it was nearly impossible to miss him. “Lucky for you I don’t see any prey.” He mewed half-jokingly. Yew unsheathed his claws before speaking again, still rather surprised to see Roselight once again. “I was starting to think you didn’t make it, you haven’t come around lately.” It seemed he wasn’t intent on fighting this time around. While it was unlikely NightClan would ever accept his presence in their territory, the loner though he might be a bit better off if he didn’t have to fight every cat he came across. Besides, Roselight has proven herself to be a capable fighter.

Rosetail watched Yew's approach, her ears flattening for a couple moments at his noisy progress. So much for finding any prey around here. No wonder the tom was always so eager to find food. He probably scared half the forest's prey away in his approach. "Like such a minor injury would take me down," she scoffed, lifting her nose. She noted that he sheathed his claws, but kept hers unsheathed for the time being. "You're a fool for coming onto this territory," the she-cat continued frankly. "One of these days you are going to get caught and you will most certainly regret it."

“So minor that you swallowed your pride and stayed with someone as terrible as myself.” Yew laughed, clearly having meant it as a joke. Probably not the kind of thing he should have said, especially considering that Roselight looked to be ready for a fight. He opened his mouth to argue with the warrior about who truly owned the territory, but shut his mouth instead. That wasn’t going to get him anywhere. “You say that like anyone here would be used to see me go.” The tom wasn’t sure if he should take her Roselight’s words as a threat or a warning. “Why is it I always find you by yourself out here? Don’t like the other cats around camp? I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t want to be around you.” He smirked though he sounded serious.

Roselight's green eyes glared at him as he spoke. Though, she'd never admit it, the tom was right. She did end up staying the night with the rogue, and there was no excuse she could say for that. Instead, she kept her jaws closed. Then he spoke again asking why she always was alone, and finding it a valid question, she answered willingly. "I happen to like hunting alone. I personally find it far more effective. I will hunt with others when called upon to, but spreading out individually covers far more area, therefore increasing the likelihood of finding more prey," Roselight explained, seemingly pleased to share her opinion on the subject. How strange it was, that this tom cat would stroll onto their territory and hold a simple everyday conversation with her. She glanced around to make sure nobody was nearby, and once she was satisfied, she stared at him, her gaze searching.

Yew thought about what she said, before nodding in agreement. It wasn’t too weird in his mind for them to have a conversation like this. Having someone else to talk to was actually a welcome surprise. “I guess you’re right. It’s just strange to see a warrior all by her lonesome.” It seemed to Yew that Roselight was a bit strange for a warrior. He hadn’t been living with her like her clan mates, but considering how uncommon it was for him to come into contact with anyone he felt Rose light was probably the warrior he knew best. “Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?” Yew had noticed the stare. Many cats had stared at him, usually because of the scars, but this wasn’t the first time he was meeting Roselight.

Roselight blinked and averted her gaze. "Ah, no. I just got lost in thought," she replied quickly, sheathing her claws and sitting, wrapping her tail around her paws. In truth, she had been trying to figure out what she really thought of the tom. "It's not like I try and hide from other cats. I'm a warrior now and come and go as I please," she paused and glanced up at Yew. "Do you you ever get lonely as a loner?"

“Sorry I can’t keep your attention Roselight.” He muttered with a short chuckle. He understood her coming and going as she pleased, actually finding something they had in common there. Not having anyone to control him or get in his way was a huge part of what he liked about being a loner. Then Roselight brought up the part of his life that Yew wasn’t all too fond of, and the big yellow idiot visibly tensed up. “Well...To be honest, my life is incredibly lonely. I didn’t really mind it at first, but you’d be surprised how lonely it gets out here. Why, are you offering to keep me company?” That was followed with a much louder and longer laugh, then he flashed her a rather goofy looking grin.

(^^)
Roselight's eyes widened, as he spoke of the possibility of her coming to live with him. Taken off guard, she paused, uncertain what to say. Then he laughed. The green eyed she-cat let out a few awkward chuckles as to not seem entirely out of place. She let out a breath of relief as she realized it must have been a joke. In fact the goofy smile he made at the end made her laugh build into a fuller laugh, and she smiled in return; a real smile. She had never seen the tom so happy, or at least that's what he seemed to be. "I could say the same to you. You'd make a great warrior, if you ever decided to come and live with us."

Yew was still laughing softly, and shuffling his paws awkwardly as he listened to her. “You know I’d never cut it as a warrior, Roselight.” He spoke only slightly louder than a whisper. “I mean it though, you should come around sometime. That is, as long as you aren’t too busy hunting by yourself.” He seemed far less confident than usual. It seemed like they may have stumbled onto something the tom wasn’t sure he was the best at.

What was wrong with her?! She should be denying him outright. That was what she would have done had they never met before. But now... Roselight turned her face away. "I have a responsibility to the clan, and to my brother. We can't keep meeting each other like this," her voice wavered on the last sentence. It wouldn't take much to convince her otherwise.

Yew's blush was nearly visible through his pelt. It was clear that the tom was already uncomfortable, and her words hit him like a heavy blow to the belly. Should've just kept my mouth shut, the tom scolded himself mentally. If he hadn't said anything, at the very least she wouldn't be telling him she didn't want to see him. "You have a responsibility to yourself. You don't need to leave everyone behind, but if you want to be with me nothing would make me happier. But..." Yew was glad Roselight had turned her head away, because there was no way he could look her in the eye now. "But if you'd rather go back to your camp instead, I'll leave you alone. I just couldn't let you go without saying something." What a fool he had been, to think she would want anything to do with him. Aside from simply being an intruder and an enemy, he was just a big, loud-mouthed, ugly tom who lived alone because he belonged along.
