Yew quickly became aware of the fact that Roselight was staring at him, but didn't bother to bring it up. He was used to cats staring, a big burly tom with jagged scars and a poor attitude like himself did tend to draw attention. Once he had his fill and had passed the rest of the thrush over to the warrior, he was rather confused to see her starting to get up. "What are you doing? Eat." That seemed like more of a command than anything based out of concern, but that was really all you could expect from Yew. "If you need a place to sleep that off I know somewhere not far. You'll only make things worse on yourself trying to walk on that." That sounded a bit more pleasant, though his tone was still as harsh as ever. For a young tom, he sounded more like a grumpy elder.

Roselight shot a glare at the mostly eaten carcass and then at Yew. "I'm not eating that. I don't eat until I catch something for the clan," she snapped, her tail flicking irritably. She didn't even mention his offer for a place to sleep. The camp was a long way off, and she knew it would be difficult to limp all the way back, but the stubborn she-cat didn't want to show any more weakness in front of the rouge tom than she had to. With a sprained leg, she wouldn't be able to hunt anything more that morning, and if she stressed it too much on the way back to camp, it might get worse as Yew had suggested and she wouldn't be able to hunt for a long time. Maybe... maybe the damage would end up being permanent, and she would never be able to hunt the same again. She winced at the thought.

"A three-legged warrior can't hunt, and a cat who doesn't eat starves." This was obvious, and there was little point in Yew saying it. It was already clear by this time that they were both rather stubborn, but he felt the need to do so anyway. To be honest, Yew didn't know if it was out of concern for Roselight or if he just felt like talking down to her. After a moment he rose to his paws and started to pad away. "Come on. You and I both know that leg won't get better if you force yourself to walk back to your camp. Even worse if you hunt on it. Or are you just waiting for me to grab you by the scruff and carry you out of here like a kit?" It seemed as though Yew held almost no real animosity towards Roselight at this point. He had gotten the thrush, so there was no more reason for fighting. It was also possible that he felt a little bad about injuring her leg.

It truly was strange that a cat once her enemy had become something akin to a friend. Roselight shook her head quickly. No, she mustn't let her guard down. He was a trespasser on NightClan terrritory, and therefore was her enemy. She closed her eyes and sighed. But he was right... as much as she hated to admit it, he was right. Several long seconds after Yew began to pad away, she followed, her tail lashing behind her as she mumbled quietly to herself. "Just know that I don't owe you anything!" she grumbled, trying to find some excuse to justify this situation. "I caught that thrush, so now we'll be even."

(Hey Angel.)
"Even? I took that thrush from you fair and square! Don't get confused, warrior, you're not receiving any sort of special treatment here." The tom's voice made it seem as though he was angry, but his actions told another story. "I just don't like the idea of leaving a wounded cat alone in the forest, especially one who can't take care of herself." This time he couldn't help himself, failing to stay serious and letting out a soft laugh as he spoke. Yew kept his pace slow so as not to leave the limping Roselight behind. The loner was honest when he had said they wouldn't have to travel far, it was only another minute or two before he stopped in front of what looked like a badger den. Well, it was a badger den. Obviously long since abandoned by the time that Yew had come across it. Without another word the yellow tom leapt down into down inside and started towards the wider opening inside where there was a nest set up. "Welcome to my home. Never expected to bring a clan cat here."

( c o u r a g e Hey, welcome to the Clan! The only problem is, we already have an apprentice named Bristlepaw whose warrior name is going to be Bristleclaw, and obviously, we can't have two cats with the same name in the Clan... I'm really sorry about that. Is there a different name your character could have?) Fixed it, thank you for the kind notice. Mind telling me where I can join in the rp? ))

"I can take care of myself just fine," Roselight muttered through the bird carcass she carried in her mouth. She had picked it up a while back, not wanting to leave the territory littered and also feeling the strong hunger in her belly. His laugh both put her at a bit of ease and irritated her at the same time. To her it felt like he was mocking her. "Just don't," she hissed. At least he didn't consider this a favour. She hated the thought of having to owe a rogue a favour. Roselight fell silent as she limped along. The tom had been true to his word, and they arrived at an old badger den. She followed Yew inside, hissing as she landed awkwardly when she had jumped in. Outside of the leaf-bare chill, she began to feel the sting of her wounds, but she didn't dare show Yew that she felt any pain. She came to a halt beside the tom in front of the nest, and when their pelts brushed, she immediately moved away and limped to the other side of the den. Once there, she set down the bird carcass.

Yew didn't respond to Roselight at first, since his comment about her being unable to care for herself was really just meant to make her upset. seem to react when they brushed against one another. The den was really only meant for just one cat, so it was to be expected. He did have to bite his tongue to keep from laughing again when he saw her trying to distance herself. Yew looked over his shoulder at Roselight, weighing his options for a moment before he pointed towards the nest with his tail. "Take it. You need the rest." He said before padding into the corner. For a cat who wasn't used to having others around, the loner seemed to be trying to be courteous. Well, at least at courteous as someone with his generally disagreeable personality could be. He was still bound to taunt the warrior. As usual though, his actions made his true intentions clear as he returned to Roselight's side with a couple cobwebs on his paw. "Stay still." That was all the warning he gave before he started to place them on the wounds he had left on her back. "I'm no healer, but that should keep you from bleeding all over my lovely den. Bad enough this place is going to reek for awhile." And with that, Yew curled up as comfortably as he could on the dirt next to the nest.

Roselight found herself too tired to object, and slipped into the nest. It was very comfortable. She stiffened when Yew told her to hold still and began applying cobwebs to her back. Confusion filled her mind. What was this? All the stories she had heard about rouges had been that they were either vicious or timid, most of the stories being about the malicious ones. Yew was neither of those. He was a strong fighter, but he also had his own code of honour it seemed. He'd make a good warrior... She watched as Yew settled down in the dirt beside the nest where she lay and felt a twinge of guilt. She reached beyond the nest with her good paw, and hooked the leftover cobweb towards her. He had covered her back wounds, and she knew how difficult it would be to try and dress your own back. Without a word, she leaned out of the nest and began applying cobwebs gently to the wounds she had dealt to his back.

Yew had been staying in this den for some time, the face that the whole place was drowned in his scent was proof of that. It had been a long time since he had to sleep on dirt, but at least in here there was no wind and no snow. You've dealt with worse, just try and get some sleep and figure out what to do about the warrior tomorrow. Only a moment or so later the loner felt Roselight covering up his wounds with the last of the cobwebs. Normally this would be seen as a rather kind gesture and met with some sort of appreciative response. Unfortunately for Roselight, she was dealing with Yew. Instead of thanks, this earned her a snarl as the tom rose to his paws as quick as his exhausted body would allow. For a moment he glared down at the clan she-cat, baring his teeth at her with a crazed look in his eye. It seemed his anger went just as quickly as it came though, and he soon settled back down next to her. "S-sorry." That was certainly strange. Yew had spent almost the whole time he was with Roselight, or pretty much anyone else for that matter, shouting. Now he sounded more like a frightened kit.

Roselight pulled back when he suddenly stood up, snarling. Her body tensed and she glared at Yew, her green eyes flashing. She didn't know what to expect out of him next, and was thoroughly surprised when she heard the softest word she'd ever heard from him that day. It sounded so gentle and frightened, that her heart went out to the tom. Her fur flattened, and her gaze softened. She dipped her head to him, and gestured to where he had laid. "Lay down, and I will finish the job," she murmured quietly.

Yew seemed to relax a bit, allowing Roselight to patch up his wounds. It wasn't a situation he had expected to find himself in, but there was little he could do to fight it now. There was no point. It hurt his pride a bit to have to accept the warrior's help, but it would make his life a lot easier to have those wounds heal rather than continue to give him trouble. "Thank you. What should I call you?" He mumbled over his shoulder to Roselight. It seemed a bit strange that he hadn't gotten her name yet, though they hadn't exactly met under the best of circumstances.

(If anyone wishes to roleplay, feel free to jump in with Frazzlepaw! ^^ )
Frazzlepaw sat outside the apprentice den, his wide orange-amber eyes searching up through the thick pines that covered their territory, searching for at least a glimmer of sunlight. There were a few spots he could point out... He shifted his paws on the cold ground, absentmindently clawing the earth, so he could keep his paws from going numb. Averting his gaze from above, he scanned the few cats who had clustered around the fresh-kill pile. His sister had been gone for a long time. Sometimes he wondered if she got lost in that world of hunting she loved, so it wasn't too surprising. His attention was suddenly distracted when a pine cone fell by the edge of camp. He darted towards it, and bent down to sniff it. He used to love these things as a kit; they were so easy and fun to bat around. He gave this cone a few experimental bats.

As she finished, Roselight appreciated his word of gratitude, but was rather taken off guard by his question. The multicoloured tabby stared at him for a few moments. It had just occured to her that they didn't know eachother's names. "Roselight. My name is Roselight," she replied slowly, as if contemplating why he wanted to know. "What is yours?" She had settled back more comfortably in her nest. She hadn't wanted to accept these circumstances, but slowly, she found herself realizing that this was the only way for now. Might as well make the most of it.

"I am Yew." The loner quickly realized how strange that sounded, and quickly spoke up again. "That is, Yew is my name." Usually names were given as part of an introduction, but it was understandable that that hadn't happened since their introduction was Yew attacking Roselight. "Roselight..." Yew had always wondered why clan cats felt the need to have two names, but 'Roselight' sounded a lot nicer than some of the names he had heard before. Probably a bit better than 'Yew'. Most parents wouldn't name their son after a poison, but that seemed to fit pretty well with Yew's appearance and personality. "You have a nice name, warrior. It suits you." That having been said, Yew curled himself up to keep warm and closed his eyes.

Roselight laughed softly when Yew tried to clarify his name. In this time of truce, she found the tom was easier to get along with. Almost... friendly. She had been told that yew berries were another name for deathberries, a berry that could kill a cat in seconds, but she didn't hold the name against him, for who could help what they were named as a kit. Other than the meaning behind the name, it suited him well. The meaning of a name didn't have to be the personality of the bearer. Often it was, but she knew that was not always the case. Her eyes widened in surprise when he complimented her own name, and she hid her face in the bedding of the nest as she smiled. By the time she opened her mouth to reply, his eyes were already closed. He must've been quite tired. "Thank you..." she whispered, curling her tail around her flank and resting her chin on her paws. "Thank you, Yew." Her eyes gradually drifted closed.

Yew's eyes shot open, and he let out a semi-loud growl as he rose to his paws. He hated mornings, but if he didn't get to work right away he was unlikely to get anything done. Usually that meant hunting, because it tended to take him the better part of a day to find a meal or two. Despite the fact that the sun had risen, it was still far too dark inside the den to see if Roselight was still there. "Roselight..." He gave it a few moments before he called her name again, only much louder this time. "Roselight!" If she didn't answer the second call she was probably gone. That wouldn't be a shock if Roselight's leg was feeling better, staying with a loner like Yew had to hurt her pride. It would certainly draw attention from some of her clanmates if they were to know.

"I'm here Yew." Roselight's soft mew came from outside the den. At her paws lay a scrawny mouse, freshly killed. Her paw was still sore, and she had barely managed to catch the thing, but she managed to with her silent technique. She visibly shivered in the cold of the early morning air, though only slightly. She knew she would warm up on the move, and even more so when she got back to camp. "I have to go," she told him, unable to hide a note of sadness in her voice.

Yew was surprised to see that Roselight was not just up and moving so early, but that she had managed to catch prey despite her injury. Wish I could hunt like that...guess I'll stick to catching weak prey and stealing. He watched the warrior shiver in the cold, though his long fur was keeping him warm. "Alright." Yew responded, sounding as grumpy as ever. "If you change your mind you're free to stay 'til that leg's healed." Was that worry and concern that he was feeling? No, just let her leave. It'll be better if she does. That was an interesting battle going on in his head. "Just don't tell anyone where this place is. I'm not moving."
