Streampaw tilted her head as she spotted the flowering, tall yellow plant. "Is that goldenrod?" she said as she recognized its pungent smell.

Frostfeather purred and nodded. "Good job," she meowed, and started biting off some of the goldenrod to add to her bundle of herbs.

Ravenwing blinked his eyes as his sister approached him with a vole in her mouth. Moving over so she could sit, the nervous tom’s eyes flickered around camp. “Where’s Thistlefur?” He asked, not spotting his brother’s dark grey pelt.
Riversong shrugged as she took a bite out of the prey. “He was on the morning border patrol. I think he’s sleeping.” She responded as she nudged some of the vole over to the black tomcat.

Honeycloud was laying outside of the nursery, her swollen belly looking huge. She sighed and looked around the camp.

Riversong’s amber eyes flickered up as she saw the queen, and she smiled. “Hey, Honeycloud!” She called out, the tabby she-cat flicking her tail in greeting.
Ravenwing followed his sister’s gaze, and the quiet tom dipped his head to the she-cat. “Wh-When are your kits due?” He asked, embarrassed of stuttering.

"Hi Riversong, Ravenwing," Honeycloud meowed, pushing herself to her paws and padding over to the warriors. "They'll be born any day now," she purred, rubbing her tail-tip against her belly. Despite how horrible her former mate had been, she was looking forward to having these kits, knowing she would raise them to be better cats than Spidereyes ever was. "How are you two doing?"

“It’ll be exciting to have kits in the camp again,” Ravenwing said, grinning. He had remembered the older warrior, Spidereyes, who had terrified the tom. He was glad to see that Honeycloud was still excited for her kits. “I went hunting earlier,” he responded, resting his head on his paws.
“Would you like some of this vole?” Riversong asked, tilting her head slightly. Listening to Ravenwing, she nodded in agreement. “The clan could use some little kits running around,” she purred, smiling at the thought.

Honeycloud purred. "I can't wait until they're born," she meowed. She sighed when she heard about Ravenwing hunting. "I wish I could go hunting," she meowed. "I miss the feeling of running through the forest, hunting for my Clan." She looked at Riversong, then leaned down to take a bite of the vole. "Thanks."

“You’ll be back hunting before you know it,” Riversong assured, stretching her backs legs before sitting back down.
“The prey was awfully quiet today,” Ravenwing added, hoping that it would be Honeycloud feel better. “I didn’t do much chasing. This vole just ran into me.” He admitted.

Honeycloud purred in amusement. "You would think the prey around here would be smarter, considering cats have been living in this forest for seasons." She bent to take another bite of the vole and let out a small gasp of pain.

Ravenwing jumped to his paws, concern flickering in his green eyes. “Are you play?” He asked Honeycloud, anxious.
Riversong looked at Honeycloud, frowning. “Are the kits coming?” She asked, her voice calm despite the panic she felt. I’ll need to get Frostfeather!

Timberpaw left the apprentice's den and wondered if he should go out into the forest on his own to get some more moss for his nest. He looked around but when he couldn't see his mentor he decided to go anyway.

Ravenwing dipped his head into the medicine cat’s den, quickly calling “Frostfeather!” But he didn’t hear a reply back. Going further into the den, he realized that the two were out. Sprinting out of the den, he nearly ran into Timberpaw as he bolted out of camp, calling loudly for Frostfeather and Streampaw.
Riversong watched as her brother raced out of camp, a look of panic now on her face. “Let’s get you back to the nursery,” she said to Honeycloud, gently pressing against the queen. Starclan let Frostfeather not be too far from camp! Upon hearing Puddlestep’s voice, she sighed in relief. “Her kits are coming!” She told the other queen.

Honeycloud groaned in pain as she leaned against Riversong, limping toward the nursery. She looked up at Puddlestep, grunting in pain, but in too much pain to respond.

Riversong stood over Honeycloud, resting one paw gently on the she-cat. She tried to remember what she had seen Frostfeather do when queens began kitting. “A stick...” she said more to herself, quickly grabbing bark and giving it to Honeycloud. “You can clamp down on this when you’re in pain,” she said, constantly glancing up as if expecting to see the medicine cat and her apprentice.

Honeycloud cried out in pain as another spasm rolled through her belly.
Frostfeather heard Ravenwing calling for her. She flicked her tail, signaling for Streampaw to follow, and raced toward his voice. "What's going on?" She asked, panting.

“You’re doing great,” Riversong murmured, constantly glancing over her shoulder at the nursery entrance.
“Frostfeather!” Ravenwing nearly crashed into the two as he skidded to a halt. “It’s Honeycloud...her kits are coming!” He panted, dancing on his paws.

Frostfeather nodded and dropped the herbs she was carrying. "Ravenwing, take these herbs back to my den for me," she meowed. "Just put them down inside the den, I'll sort them and put them away later." She looked back at Streampaw. "Are you ready to deliver your first litter of kits?" She asked.
Honeycloud whimpered in pain as a stronger spasm rolled through her belly. She cried out and writhed in pain in her nest.

Ravenwing listened, gently scooping up the herbs in his mouth. Weaving his way between the trees, he scampered into the camp and darted towards the medicine cat den.
Riversong gently massaged the she-cat’s stomach, attempting to help the she-cat. “Have you thought of names?” She asked, hoping to take Honeycloud’s mind off the pain.

Frostfeather raced toward the camp and pushed her way into the nursery. "Hi, Honeycloud," she meowed, padding over to the queen. She placed her paws on Honeycloud's belly. "It's about time to start pushing," she meowed. "On the next spasm, I want you to push, okay?"
Honeycloud nodded, and yowled in pain as she pushed. A tiny ginger bundle slid into the nest. Frostfeather quickly nipped the birthing sac and placed the kit at Riversong's paws. "Lick her," she ordered. "Honeycloud, your first kit is a daughter."

Riversong did as she was told, licking the little she-kit’s fur the wrong way to help her breathing. She handled the kit gently, waiting for Honeycloud’s next kit.

Honeycloud cried out in pain and pushed as a sandy-colored tom was born.
Frostfeather picked up the little tom and placed it at Puddlestep's paws. "Lick his fur the wrong way, get him breathing and warm," she ordered.
Honeycloud shrieked as a dark brown tom was born.
Frostfeather picked up the little tom and placed it in front of Honeycloud. "One more," she encouraged.
Honeycloud moaned in pain as the last kit, a pale ginger and white she-cat, was born.
Frostfeather started licking the last kit. "Four healthy kits," she meowed. "Two toms, two she-cats."
