So I'll ask a question: If you found a stray dog, what would you do? Personally, I would try to at least help feed it if I can't afford to keep it. A few years ago, there was a little stray Toy Poodle wandering around. Back then our apartment wasn't allowed to have pets, so I couldn't have washed it. I decided to run back home and get some food for it, but after I returned, it was gone. I was really disappointed. I did get to pet it when it came over, but the poor thing was filthy. I wish I was able to give it a bath.

I can't take care of a dog but I know a good no-kill shelter nearby so that would be the first place I'd try
I would also ask around to see if anyone I knew and trusted could take a dog

I'd probably keep it if it stuck around. Since I live in the middle of no where, animal drop offs are unfortunately very common here. Every dog I've owned, excluding one, was a drop off and several of our cats were drop offs as kittens as well.

bring it home and feed it and then call a rescue or a shelter or something. I have a dog and two cats so keeping it wouldn't work but I definitely wouldn't want to just leave it out on the streets.

Since I'm currently in an apartment that allows pets, I would probably try to get its attention/get it to come over to me (since I always carry emergency snacks for myself around with me I could probably offer it some food, as long as it was dog-friendly), and then take it home to get it cleaned up/rested/fed. I'd obviously call the animal shelter to make sure it wasn't missing, but if within a few weeks no one had claimed it I'd sure as heck be keeping it.

k e e p i t
my family live in a house next to a nature reserve & we have a reasonable garden, plus we already have 2 dogs and i daresay there's enough space on my bed for another one if they all gang up and push me out of it lol

I am allergic to and I also really hate dogs so I wouldn't keep it however, first I'd make sure it was actually a stray. Check to see if it has tags, check missing dog posts locally, and take it in to a vet clinic to see if it was chipped. If it was and I find the owner then good. Also just in general make sure it was healthy. Get some dog food, water etc.If it definitely didnt have an owner I'd likely end up surrendering it to a no kill shelter or giving it to someone else.

If it didn't have an owner (no microchip or collar) I'd probably foster it until we found it a home. I'd avoid rescues/shelters if possible because no-kill is never really no-kill.
