alright so I'm trying to make a new FanClan from an old one I used to have on wcf to get myself back into roleplaying. it's basically a clan made after the original 5 clans disintegrate so it has the blended cultures and different traditions of the 5 old clans of the forest (and some new ones, such as a special burial ritual, a celebration on the winter solstice, and interclan urban legends that have become so we'll know they become part of its lore). it's got most things in common with the first books and serves as a sort of nostalgic throwback to them what I'm trying to say is IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD WANT IN A FANCLAN? ANYTHING? I'M DESPERATE
(I had no idea where to put this thread??? I figured "screw it let's put it here" even though there are probably 900 better places to put it. I am Not Good with anything that doesn't belong in OTD)

That idea actually sounds pretty cool! If school doesn't become to hectic I might join.
But one of the biggest things I first look at, is a good layout. Some good coding (can be really really simple though, I would recommend stalking coding shops and old threads for free coding) and a readable font. I don't know about other people, but when I click on a clan and it has no coding, it looks more unprofessional/unappealing. Not really something that is the fanclan itself but still pretty important.
And idk for anything else really, maybe I'll think of something later.

It sounds like you have some really cool workdbuilding so far, so I'm already interested lol. I find a lot of fanclans don't really elaborate on their world and clans culture so I think it's great you've worked on that.

y'all seem to like the world building of this clan so here's more on that
Some of the traditions of the Clan: -An urban legend commonly spread by young cats tells of an apprentice who was killed climbing one of the trees in camp, and whose ghost continues to haunt the camp. The legend is so well known that even cats outside the Clans hear of it, yet nobody knows if the apprentice in question existed or not. -To become mates, one cat (male or female) must leave a flower, shell, rock, feather, or other object considered pretty in the nest of their mate. If within four days another object is placed in the first cat’s nest by the second cat, the pair are mates. If the object is in another cat’s nest, or there’s no reciprocated object at all, the pair are not mates. -During a burial, special precautions are taken. Usually, cats are buried where it is seen fit (if they loved to swim they would be buried by the river)- the only exceptions are kits, cats who died in childbirth, cats whose sacrifice ultimately saved the Clan or a large part of the Clan, and leaders, who are all buried in the sacred grounds by the Starlight Lake and the Crystal Tree (the clan's version of a moonstone basically). The dead has their face painted in mud in a certain pattern, any surviving family/mate/close friends will have the same mud pattern painted on their faces. The dead will usually be buried with a piece of prey to sustain them on their journey to the afterlife, the stone or shell that they received when they were "proposed" to, and a tad of the dust from the nursery which they were born in. After the burial, no cats are permitted to walk on the ground above the buried for half a moon. Medicine cats often plant flowers on the ground above the buried after a few moons depending on who the cat was and what time of the year it is, this is considered a way to let the spirit of the cat know how much they were loved. -In the middle of winter, the sun lowers. When it is noticed it is slowly returning to its high spot in the summer, the Festival of the Sun is held, in which cats celebrate with feasts, stories, “songs” and other activities for the Sun returning to its higher spot in the sky is a sign warm weather is coming soon. -The cats use joking insults directed at one’s heritage as a fond joke, there is one for every Clan. Fishbreaths refer to RiverClan, Heavyfeet refer to ThunderClan, Slinkers refer to Shadowclan, Twiglegs refer to WindClan, and Woodcrawlers refer to SkyClan. Newcomers who come to OakClan with no prior heritage are jokingly called apprentices for a long time after they graduate, even well into their old age.

The nest thing is adorable, I can imagine some cat freaking out that they can't find anything good enough for their love, so they sneak out and gather a bunch of things from all over to put in their nest

I can also imagine someone trying to match-make two cats by putting an item in someone's nest then saying it was from someone else
