Thank you everyone! Draco Yup, she's a hognose. They are so chubby even as babies. I mean they're thin as hatchlings, but they still look chubby because there's no thinner area for their neck lol.

I love hognoses. They are native to my area, I've only ever caught one but it was such an interesting and nice snake.

Snappppppppppppp Me too. Which species? We have western (the kind she is) and southern ones here. I personally avoid messing with wild snakes unless absolutely necessary, as it stresses them out a lot.

I personally avoid messing with wild snakes unless absolutely necessary, as it stresses them out a lot. It's also Western here. The one I found was a very young one ( about the size of yours in the first photo. Maybe even smaller if I remember right.) My friends and I actually took it to my Exotics college professor to identify it as we'd never seen a snake like that. We ended up keeping it for the college and it ate amazingly well. It tamed down nicely as well lol this was a really tiny town in nowhere Nebraska, the western hognose is were parently very common there.

Snappppppppppppp I wish they were common here. I'd love to see a wild one, but they're just too hard to spot. Rattlesnakes are super common here but I've only seen a couple, and never any out in the desert. They were just ones that had wandered next to our house.

we have hognoses here but theyre so rare so its illegal to keep them. if i find one id like to take a pic and hold it if its very young. if its older itll probably terrify it even more. but theyre so cute and i love them

Thunderlake Are they illegal even when purchased from a breeder? I'd probably cry if I couldn't have one, I've wanted one since I saw one at a reptile shop when I was 4. They have the best personalities too.

Thunderlake That's actually good then. It's really awful to take snakes from the wild for multiple reasons, but people insist on doing it anyway.
