Welcome! So if you're a regular on these forums (or even just an occasional observer haha) you may juust have heard of this little fanfiction called Curse, and its hugely talented author, Shadowface. This thread is part of Curse's fourth anniversary celebrations - I mean, four years, that's got to be worthy of some significant celebration. Thus. The "rules" of the marathon seem to be "do whatever you want, as long as it's green". There will be green. There will be curses. There will be whatever random Curse/COTV related stuff I can think up. Welcome to the madness.
*Needless to say, there will be some serious spoilers, especially in the headcanon section. Read with care.*

Shameless fangirling Favourite characters:
1 - Hadiya
Hadiya, guardian of the crossroads, doesn't appear a huge amount in Curse, but when she does, you know serious things are about to happen. She's one of the most intriguing cats in the COTV universe; her backstory, her motivations and her role as an advisor for cats at a metaphorical 'crossroads' all make me want to know so much more.
2 - Eaglefrost
C'mon, you've got to like Eaglefrost! He's Shadowface's best friend almost from the beginning, supporting her throughout the early parts of the story, and the breakdown of their friendship is truly tragic to read about. He could be seen as Shadowface's sensible side - although we all know things wouldn't be nearly so interesting if Shadow didn't go her own way sometimes.
3 - Darkmoon
Because if I didn't put her on here, I'm genuinely afraid she'd climb through my computer screen and give me a clawing. She's that formidable.
That one quote:
“I-I just wanted to apologize! Um, apologize for…letting Shadowkit venture out of the camp…and not forcing her to come back to camp when it got dangerous…and for not-not trying harder to keep her from falling…off-off a huge, scary cliff…”

❆
Headcanon-y stuff Shadowface's father is equated to Pandora, right? The sins that Pandora releases refers to the different curses. We know that having Pan as a father makes Shadowface different. What if that's because she's linked to whatever started the whole curse thing in the first place ?
That rebellion curse isn't as dormant as we think. After all, Shadow/Jade is nothing if not rebellious in nature, and the idea of changing her fate (from Lightfeather's) is a big one for Shadowface. Shadow will figure out how to combine the two curses, or alternatively discover this once she's made a plan that relies on only having one curse.

Writing Green eyes.
He’s sinking, the waters black and cold as death itself. It numbs him, slows the adrenaline that was coursing through his veins. It chokes him, steals the breath and the cries from his mouth.
It’s him, isn’t it? Lion - whatever his name is.
Ever since he tied his fate to Shadowface’s - ever since he fell in love with her, ever since he first admired her tortoiseshell fur and stubborn disposition - he’s been running a risk, balancing along an ever narrower tree branch, harnessing himself to something greater than he understands.
We’ll fight him together. We’ll -
He’s told himself that the risk was worth it; any risk was worth Shadowface. He’s sworn to support her, no matter how crazy it all gets. All couples have to make sacrifices. He didn’t realise, back then, that when the crunch came, it wouldn’t be just his own life that he was risking. Their kits - his and Shadowface’s - were caught in this nightmare. A situation that no parent should ever have to face.
He would move StarClan for Shadowface. He would move the seven realms combined, and more besides, for the kits.
The branch has snapped, the harness is pulling him down, and Rushstorm is falling.
Take him - run!
Wolves howl, voices shout, scream - he thinks one of them is Shadowface’s, but everything feels so far away. It was only a few minutes ago that they evacuated the camp. Nothing that happened since then feels real.
The kits are all safe, aren’t they? He tries to remember, but everything is so washed with panic. The midnight waters engulf him.
He tries to remember, her teeth in his scruff, her desperate glowing eyes, trying her hardest to keep him afloat. Their parting words -
I love you, Shadowface, now and forever
I love you, Rushstorm -
- darkness.
