Darkspeck felt himself grow tenser at the magenta-eyed warrior's answer. He had just assumed, all along, that she was being as nice to him as she was to everyone. Still, his fur flushed and a strange warm feeling fluttered in his chest when she confidently admitted she wanted to be his friend. Why did that make him so happy? ... Admittedly, the tom didn't have many friends other than his sister and brother. Okay, fine, he didn't have any friends other than those two. It's not like he needed friends to get stronger though! Besides, back when he was a kit, no one seemed to want to be his friend after his mother's death and his father's cowardly escapade. His lip began to curl back into a snarl at the memory of that mouse-heart, but upon realizing that Honeysplash was still with him, allowed his expression to become neutral again. His amber eyes flashed for a brief moment. "You're not just talking to me out of pity, then?" he insisted hotly, his tail twitching at the idea. After all, they'd only started talking a few sunrises ago on that moonlit night, after his brother's collapse. That... couldn't be it, right? For some reason, the tom felt inclined to believe his companion's words.
