SAVE SAVE IS BACK, RUN FOR THE HILLS ]
Sootfeather smirked slightly, tail flicking as he thought of something witty to reply with. "It's alright; you're prettier than any flower in this meadow, even during greenleaf." He chuckled a little bit, then addressed her suggestions. "I don't mind doing either. Maybe we should continue walking?" He hadn't really planned this far ahead, as he didn't think that they'd get this far. "I don't really know where to, but there's got to be somewhere else to visit, right?"

[ Oh okay^^ Alright, take your time with the reply ! ]

At Sootfeather's words Snowpool felt her fur heat up. "Oh...thank you.." She murmured, looking down at her paws for a moment before looking back up at him. She gave him a small smile. He was a nice tom, she could see that. She knew that he would make a good friend, and Snowpool assumed he would want to be her friend since he had brought her all the way out her. Suggesting the walk and hearing the tom agree, Snowpool felt a wave of relief crash over her. She had never been that great of a hunter or even a fighter, which made her question at times why she was even in the clan after all, but she did like to go for walks. AetherClan's territory was a beautiful place- one she would love to explore with a good friend. "Surely we'll come across something else. Why would anyone ever come out here if there was nothing to offer?"

"I suppose you're right. Sounds like a good opportunity to explore and maybe find something new, right?" Sootfeather smiled brightly, then turned and padded a short ways in the meadow, the grass tickling his nose and swaying beside his paws. "Why not head for the treeline over there?" He gestured over the grass with his tail to a distant clump of thick trees, whiskers twitching. He wasn't sure if he'd ever been over there, and figured it was as good an option as any. In any case, they didn't have a clear destination and could go anywhere, really. "Do you have any ideas?" He didn't want to take charge of the walk too much. After all, her opinion was just as important, right?

Snowpool nodded at Sootfeather's words and followed along beside him. She knew she'd have a time getting all of the grass and burrs out of her pelt, but it would be worth it. "I actually can't remember if I've ever been over there, so why not?" She said, looking over at him. "That's probably bad that I can't remember something like that, but if I went it would have been when I was an apprentice." Snowpool gave a small sneeze as the grass tickled her nose. For some reason she hadn't expected it to be so tall, but why wouldn't it be?

Post by Sparrowstep on Sept 7, 2016 19:23:19 GMT -5
"Then that's the plan, I guess." He padded along beside her, letting out a little huff of laughter at her sneeze. "When do you think we should head back? Probably before too long, if we want to catch some prey for the clan." Sootfeather wanted to make sure that they were still adhering to their warrior duties, even if they were out having fun. The clan could use as much prey as possible anyway, with so many sick cats.

"Sometime before the sun starts to go down. Though, he might have to turn around as soon as we get there." Snowpool answered, flicking her tail. She knew the clan needed food. Leaf bare was coming, so all that could be caught while prey was still around was great. Even if she wasn't the best, Snowpool knew she could at least catch something.

That was the furthest from what he wanted to be called. "C-cute? Could you both have said maybe something like "cool"? I would feel better if it was that.." He muttered, feeling somehow defeated. The tom could at least find small joy in how this whole thing seemed to bring Cloverrose to the same ease she had been before she got sick. Somehow he wished they could go back to when they had toured the territory only so long ago. Those had been much simpler yet fun times. A better time than the one they were facing right now. Yet at the same time, this is when the others needed encouragement, right? They all couldn't be down, and perhaps that is what he needed to be for them. Even if many might be annoyed with him. Nothing ventured nothing gained, correct? Plus he was already rather the optimist, or at least he appeared to be anyway.

Quietpaw & Hawkpaw // Valley // Afternoon Quietpaw nervously pawed at a tuft of grass underneath his paws as she spoke, cursing himself for bringing up the idea of climbing any trees. He had to lie to get out of this, he had to go against the screaming voice in his head which commanded him to just tell her the truth. "We aren't going to die, don't say that." He replied, attempting to squeeze some sort of confidence into his tone. "Actually, about the tree thing, I, uh, I hurt my paw the other day, I can't really climb." He lied, keeping his ears pricked and his eyes fixed on the russet creature that was wondering the grass fox-lengths in front of them.

Heatherheart with [ Leopardfrost ] // Camp
Heatherheart had to resist the urge to visibly wince at Leopardfrost's condescending words. She almost felt herself shrinking under the bengal's scrutinizing gaze, but somehow managed to stand tall nevertheless. "I am comfortable with t-them," she insisted, only to stumble over the last word. Inwardly cringing at her failure to say one sentence without stuttering, she continued, "but you're right... I really should have caught more prey. I'm so sorry." The way she said it, in such a regretful tone, almost made it seem as if she truly believed that apologizing to Leopardfrost of all the cats in the clan would make up for her failure to catch more than one skinny squirrel. She certainly hoped that her failure to find any more prey that morning was not reflecting on the season. It wasn't leaf-bare quite yet, but it seemed like the prey was already bundling up and getting scarcer. For a moment, the dilute torbie berated herself. How could she call herself a warrior if she couldn't meet up to the standards of her late sisters? Perhaps she would forever live in their shadows after all, always failing to accomplish something of her own. No, it was wrong to think that way. She would just have to work harder for the next time she went hunting on her own. Leopardfrost & Heatherheart // Camp // AfternoonLeopardfrost surveyed Heatherheart with rather chilly eyes, taking notice of the she-cat's obvious discomfort and nodding slowly at her words. The spotted warrior knew this was often the reaction she drew out of her clanmates and had decided she caused this feeling in them because they simply could not handle hearing the hard truth. Truth is all she had ever known and it was what she lived by, she saw no point in sugarcoating because the cat was likely to face to face the truth at some point, why not get it over with sooner? "It pleases me to hear that you are comfortable with your skills. Yet, obviously, today was an off day." She concluded, motioning with her black tipped tail to the thin squirrel that laid at the top of the pile. "Don't apologize to me, I am not starving nor sick, it is the sick cats you should be apologizing too." Her truthful words were accompanied by an educated tone, for she had no doubt in her mind that she could be wrong. Although she felt pity for the sensitive she-cat and her wounded self-esteem, it wasn't an excuse to bring back lackluster prey.

Junipernose pulled away from Scarletsky when he started purring. She gave him a small smile and nodded in return to his words. She wasn't sure why his reaction to her nuzzle turned her away, but it did. The she-cat couldn't help but feel her fur get warm, and while she liked the feeling, she hated it. Junipernose refused to be one of those she-cats that had a mate and depended on them for everything. She just couldn't do that. Scarletsky stopped purring and looked at Junipernose, he returned her smile and gazed at her taking in her beauty. He just liked to look at her, he flicked his ears towards the vole which there was a few bites left.

[ I've decided to do these two at a time. ] [ <-•Ryse•-> ; and angst oops ] Nightwind shook his head and backed away from the spotted she-cat. "How was that not my fault?" He asked seriously. The tom wasn't going to let this go easily. He should have just let her mess around with him in the first place, right? The face of sheer panic Fawnleap had when he tried to tickle her wasn't an expression he would forget. Not by a long shot and not for a while. The last thing he ever wanted to do was hurt her, to make her give such an expression, accidental or not. He should have been more careful, even if he didn't mean for it to turn out that way.Fawnleap & Nightwind // Camp // Afternoon
Fawnleap stepped forward, aching for his touch, her gaze full of pleading. Her heart rate was calming down from the momentary panic it had flown into, and now her only concern was making sure the love of her life didn't pull away from her. "Nightwind, my love, you didn't know I was sensitive there, there is no way you would have known, we were just playing." She tried to reassure him, placing her right front paw on top of one of his smokey grey ones, hoping she hadn't lost him.

"Well if we're just going to have to turn back as soon as we get there, then why not hang around here?" He kept his voice down, not really sure what they should do. Maybe whatever they might find would be worth the journey? Wow, that's sappy. "Agh, ignore me. Give me two options and I'll waste all my time trying to decide and not get to do either. I'll leave it up to you." He flicked his tail, turning to look at the she-cat for an answer.

It wasn't completely unbelievable, since she hadn't been around Quietpaw lately and had no idea if he had or hadn't hurt his paw, and didn't bother pondering if his statement was true. She didn't have a reason to question it, so why would she? "That doesn't leave us with many options though... Why don't you make a run back to camp, and I'll try to distract it?" It wasn't an appealing prospect, but she figured that she'd be more useful as a distraction than a runner. With her luck, she'd fall and hurt something before getting halfway home. What would Quietpaw do then?

Lionpaw with [ Ivypaw ] // Camp
Lionpaw couldn't help but allow a reaction of sheer shock to show on his face: his blue-green eyes dilated, his jaw momentarily dropped open a bit, and he stared at Ivypaw as if she'd just told him StarClan didn't exist or something crazy like that. All she had said though, was a plea of help. Normally, the mottled apprentice wouldn't think that was strange... if the words came from anyone else. But he knew Ivypaw, well... sort of, and she was a sassy apprentice and had never before seemed like the kind of cat who would willingly go around asking someone else for help if she could handle a situation herself. Clearly, this situation was affecting her more than she'd let on earlier when they argued about her love life with Crow. Anyways, he doubted she was really expecting kittens, even though it was the only situation he'd ever seen so similar to this before. After all, queens always had mates right? They couldn't have kittens without a tom! Unless, of course, she'd had a secret little rendezvous with Crow that he was unaware about... the thought admittedly did not even cross the apprentice's mind. His eyes narrowed briefly for a moment. First, their conversation had been all about him and his love life and now it was suddenly all about her. How did it even come to this!? Although he wanted desperately to give her a reality check that, hello, he lacked the skills of any decent medicine cat and couldn't really do anything to help her, the tom was not that unsympathetic. He had the decency to see that she sought comfort from him, and put on the most cheerful expression he could muster. After all, a smile could always bring happiness, right? "I wish I could help you, but I don't know how. I know you'll be okay though! The medicine cats will just inspect you and then fix you up really quickly!" he meowed cheerfully. To the untrained ear, it sounded like he was just being his useful optimistic self, but in fact he was worried for Ivypaw's sake. Perhaps something really was wrong with her. But, as always, in dark times there had to be a little hope and if he could spread his optimism to her then perhaps that would somehow help, at least just a little.
Cloverrose with [ Azurefall & Sunnydawn ] // Camp
Cloverrose tilted her head at Azurefall's defeated tone. Perhaps it was because she was a she-cat, but she honestly saw nothing wrong with something being cute. In fact, she thought it was a compliment! "But she-cats like cute things!" she sputtered out, trying to comfort him and laying a tail on her shoulder, hoping she hadn't actually hurt his feelings or something. Maybe he was just being shy again. Yeah, that was it. Surely that was it. "Besides, I think you're cool. Being a gracious loser is cool!" the cream tabby added more chirpily, smiling brightly at him though she had to briefly cough after her statement. Perhaps her words weren't exactly the most comforting things to say, but hey, no one could say she didn't try... right? At Sunnydawn's words, Cloverrose's green eyes blinked at the she-cat in surprise as if she found it a shock that another she-cat could possibly think that Azurefall was cool. If all she-cats thought so, after all, then he wouldn't be getting rejected left and right! Still, though, she nodded at the she-cat's words. "See, Sunnydawn thinks you're cool," she echoed cheerfully... or, at least tried to, since her voice still sounded somewhat different from congestion and it was more of a croak than a mew. "I thought you were pretty cool when we were taking Ivorypaw and Silentpaw around the territory. You're a good mento-" Before the she-cat could finish her sentence, she heard Sunnydawn's hiss and glanced at the she-cat with widened eyes. "Is something wrong?" Cloverrose asked. Only then did she notice how the she-cat seemed to sit... closer to Azurefall than she should have. What happened to personal space? Still though, she managed a clumsy smile at the other she-cat. Perhaps she was just imagining things. Was that a symptom of greencough, hallucinations? Yeah, it probably was, she told herself.
Heatherheart with [ Leopardfrost ] // Camp
"Yeah, you're right..." The petite svelte she-cat muttered agreement to Leopardfrost's words quietly, so quiet that one might have to strain their ears to hear her speaking. Her lavender-colored eyes drifted down to her paws as she scuffled them, ears burning with embarrassment. It wasn't everyday, after all, that she came back to camp and immediately had to deal with a critique of her less-than-stellar hunting abilities. Inwardly berating herself for not doing better, she dared a glance at the bengal she-cat's face before immediately looking down as if it was too disrespectful of her to do so. "You're right... I'll just have to try harder next time..." Her pitch raised a little higher at the end, as if Heatherheart was really making a mental promise to herself to work harder the next time she did go hunting. It struck her, with awe, how Leopardfrost could be so confident and brutally honest. Probably the exact opposite of herself, as she tended to tread carefully with her clan mates in conversation so as not to offend them. Her natural shyness, of course, led to this soft treatment towards others. If she'd been more sure of herself, like her late sisters, perhaps then she would have held her chin high in the air and pointed out that the weather was getting colder so it was only logical that prey would be harder to find, but she lacked their natural grace and self-esteem and instead found herself meekly agreeing to what Leopardfrost was saying. "M-maybe we could go hunting together next time, then I could do better?" she suggested nervously, fully expecting the she-cat to not want anything to do with her.

Sunnydawn hadn't realized she had hissed out loud, she was lost in her thoughts. She snapped back to reality when Cloverrose had said something, she blinked her eyes a few times and looked embarrassed. She gave her chest fur a few licks before answering, "Did I just hiss out loud?" She hesitated before she mewed again, with an embarrassed and nervous look on her face. "It was nothing, nothing's wrong... I just.. uhhh thought about something that kinda makes me angry." She avoided both of her clanmates gaze, she could feel her ears get hot; If she hadn't been thinking of her father, she wouldn't have hissed and worried everyone.

ivypaw & lionpaw [ camp ]
Ivypaw suddenly realised how she was acting. Firstly you become all romantic and moony, and now you're openly being sensitive and weak to Lionpaw! you need to get yourself together, priss. She shrugged, and brashly said. "Eh, I'm sure it's nothing. Don't bother with asking the medicine cats right now." She smirked proudly at herself. Good. You're not acting all sensitive any more. She then smirked, this time directly at Lionpaw. "Hey! How did this suddenly go from you to me?" She teased lightly, leaning forward. It felt good to be acting like her normal snarky self. After all, it was easier to tease and be sassy then to directly acknowledge her problems. A small part of her didn't want to find out was was happening to herself. She just wanted everything to go back to normal, teasing Lionpaw, training with Scareye ... Of course, a certain curiosity gripped her to try and find out what it was, but she still feared it greatly. After all, what if something horrible had happened? Something that would change her life forever? She swore she had the faintest of memories of seeing bellies like this, although she could not recall where. Something, though, put her off ease when she was thinking about that memory. She knew it was somewhere bad, although she could not grip the exact place it was seen. Don't think about that! Just talk to Lionpaw like you would normally! She promptly got up and sat down in a posture which did not expose her belly. She had let her guard down, and it would not be let up again. She did, however, place a paw back on her belly. It just made her feel safer that way. Turning back to Lionpaw, she smirked. "You're probably glad we changed the topic from your sweetheart, eh?" She teased, the usual snarky spark back in her eyes. "But don't bother denying it. It's pretty obvious you like her. And I'm here to help you." It was clear that the old Ivypaw was back, even by the confident posture she held. She didn't think that Lionpaw wouldn't notice her quick and wild change in personality. After all, he was just so dumb and optimistic. Right?
