Sootfeather smiled at her, padding forward and towards the exit. The bright sunlight burned his eyes for a moment before they adjusted, then he stopped and faced Snowpool. "After you." He bowed somewhat dramatically, a little smirk on his face. "After all, it wouldn't be like a gentleman to disrespect a beautiful lady, right?" His tone was quite teasing, though his compliment was genuine. The tuxedo tom's tail flicked gently, allowing the she-cat to step forward before falling into step beside her as they emerged into the cool air of the mountains.

Snowpool followed after Sootfeather eagerly. When she hit the sunlight, she blinked slowly to allow her eyes to adjust to the bright light. Feeling the warmth of the sun on her pelt made Snowpool let out a small purr. She always liked the cool weather, but it tended to stay even cooler in camp. When Sootfeather spoke up, Snowpool looked over at him, pale eyes shining. She gave a small giggle and passed past him. "How kind." She teased lightly, though she appreciated the comment. When she passed him, she flicked his nose lightly with her tail and let out an amused mrrow. When she emerged from the cave completely, she turned to look over at Sootfeather, a small smile on her thin features.

Sootfeather chuckled, shaking his head and twitching his whiskers in response to her tail. "Much appreciated." He grinned, humor gleaming in his yellow eyes. "Well, I suppose we should get going." The tom set off, turning down the slope and heading towards the meadow. With leafbare quickly approaching, he was grateful to get an opportunity to go on a walk while the weather was still decent. The cold seeped into his coat slightly, but otherwise it was pleasant. "So, how has your day been?"

Snowpool nodded and followed after the tom, her steps light and springy as she walked. The cool weather brushing through her pelt felt nice, and while it was a bit cool, she didn't mind it. She was just glad it wasn't an icy wind. Her coat was long, but not very thick. The silver colored she-cat padded a bit more quickly until she was next to Sootfeather. How was a walk supposed to be fun if she couldn't walk next to her partner? SNowpool looked over at the tom and flicked an ear. "It's been nice. How about yours?"

"It's been good. Rather boring, but good." He flashed her a wide smile, highly tempted to comment on how it had gotten much better, but decided against it last minute. The last thing he wanted was to come on too strong. Besides, he barely knew her! Now wasn't the time to be foolish - or was it? "This is probably the highlight of my day, if I'm honest." He chuckled, then glanced at her bright coat. "Or you might be. We'll have to see." Sootfeather batted at her with a paw, winking to show that he was only messing around. "So how long have you been around camp? You weren't born here, right?"

[ it is the time young soot ]

Snowpool nodded in response. "I have to agree. Not much has been going on with me, though I'm thankful for that I guess. I'd rather be bored than have something be wrong." She answered, probably a bit too seriously for the tom's liking. Though, Snowpool couldn't help but be genuine. She cared about his day, so surely he would car abut hers. When he commented on her being the highlight of his day, Snowpool felt her fur heat up a bit. Surely he didn't mean that flirtatiously, but if he did, the she-cat wasn't are she would mind. She tossed him a smile. "Why thank you kind sir I'm very flattered." She purred teasingly, bumping her nose up to meet his paw. Things took a slight change when Sootfeather asked of her past. She shook her head quietly. "No..I came when I was apprentice-aged." While she wasn't ashamed of her kittypet past, Snowpool knew she had to be careful with how she approached the topic. Some cats were more accepting than others, and she had had to learn that the hard way.

Sootfeather smiled, a gentle chuckle escaping him as she booped his paw. "You're very welcome." As she spoke about her past, he worried momentarily that he'd crossed some sort of boundary. "Ah, I see. I thought so." He paused a moment, then nudged her with his shoulder, smirking gently. "Well, I'm glad you decided to join us." He didn't want to push the topic any farther - after all, if she wanted him to know everything about her past, she would tell him. It wasn't polite to pry. The path continued to slope downwards, dropping closer and closer to the meadow. He smiled as the tall grass came into view, a little purr escaping him. "Yay, we're nearly there!"

When the past was brought up, Snowpool couldn't help but get quiet. It wasn't because she was embarrassed of her kittypet past, she just didn't know how Sootfeather would handle it. He seemed like a kind tom, and she knew that he would most likely find out sooner or later, and while she didn't want to tell him , she felt as if she should. "I was actually a kitty pet." She said a bit slowly, then glanced at him. "I don't really tell anyone that doesn't already know because they're so quick to judge." Snowpool blinked and gave a small purr and smile at his nudge. "I am too, especially since I get to be around nice cat like you all the time."
When the meadow came closer into view, Snowpool gave a happy sigh. She always loved going down there to see the bright colors, and while it wouldn't be as bright as in green leaf, it would still be a nice view. "Race you?" She said, a devious look spreading across her face.

A kittypet, huh? Sootfeather wasn't entirely sure how he felt about that. After all, he'd been told for such a long time that kittypets were nothing but weaklings and entirely lazy, since they relied completely on twolegs for their survival. But now that he saw Snowpool standing beside him, that didn't seem accurate. "Well, I think that makes you twice as impressive, After all, it must've taken a lot of courage to leave your home and come here." The tom smiled genuinely at her, ears flicking. At her challenge, he couldn't help but purr with enthusiasm. "You're on." He sped up a bit, racing quickly down the slope with Snowpool undoubtedly at his tail. He was a pretty fast runner, though the rough terrain was proving to be more of a challenge than he'd anticipated.

Snowpool furrowed her brow as soon as the words escaped from her lips. She knew she shouldn't have said it, but she had to. The tom was going to find out sooner or later more than likely, if he didn't already know. For all she knew he was just pretending to not know her past, but the she-cat didn't think that. He seemed too genuine, but if he judged her for it and didn't want to be around her anymore then so be it. She would understand. When the tom finally spoke up, she perked up slightly and looked over him. Normally the she-cat wasn't negative, but she really hadn't expected that response from him. "Th-thank you.." She said, stumbling over her words. She wasn't sure how to respond to that, especially since that wasn't exactly how things happened, but she supposed she did make the choice to leave her home.
Challenging Sootfeather to a race bumped up her mood. She smiled and took off after him. As they ran, Snowpool quickly caught up to him, though she was careful about running through the terrain. She didn't want to twist her paw or end up hurting herself in some other way.
