Willowsong had been lost in her thoughts and focused on her task that she gave a little jump at the sound of her clanmate’s greeting. She gave herself a quick lick to smooth out her fur, embarrassed that she had been startled so easily. “Hello Lionheart.” Willowsong said softly, dipping her head in a greeting to the mottled golden brown Tom as he approached. “Y-yes I’m cleaning out the bedding, thought I’d give myself something to do and away from the camp entrance since the storm is…” the she-cat hesitated, she didn’t want to admit that she was scared of the storm, warriors were supposed to be brave right? “…unpleasant.” She finished. Willowsong was a little surprised when Lionheart asked if he could help, she didn’t think anyone else would want to join her clearing the bedding, she was sure that even the apprentices would be scowling if they had to do this. But Lionheart’s kind eyes and bright face told her that he was earnest and she gave a little smile. She found it hard making friends, even with her own clanmates so she was grateful for his offer, Lionheart was always such a cheerful and friendly cat. “Sure, I wouldn’t mind the help, thank you.” She said blinking her eyes in gratitude.

{ Hi guys. So…life’s been a lot.

To start off with, I don’t know if I mentioned it before or how into depth I went but last summer one of my favorite ccs passed away and at the same time my aunt moved and I lost one of the only safe spaces I had. I was doing better about it for a while but right around when I stopped posting on here it got bad and I was really struggling with grief depression.

So I talked to my mom about what I needed to give myself purpose and after a couple months she finally conceded. And we got a kitten. I know an animal isn’t a solution or anything like that but having something new and positive gives me a reason to move forward instead of feeling stuck in the past. That was two and a half weeks ago. Also last weekend I got food poisoning and was completely miserable for three days.

And then my dog died. The next day. My dog Barny (technically my dad’s dog and basically my little brother) has had cancer for over a year and we had thought it was in remission but it wasn’t. He started not eating and we were concerned, so three days later we took him to the hospital. They called us back a couple hours later and told us he’d be lucky to survive the night. When I say I was in shock it’s an understatement. But we had to be there for him so we packed all three of our other dogs into the car and went to see him. Our other dogs got to say goodbye and we sat with him for a couple hours and then I left and my dad stayed with him as he was put to sleep. (And, because of f cking course, I got my period that night and had to deal with that while everything was going on)

So it’s been a rough week. My dad can’t handle grief or loss so I have to stay composed more than I normally would be. And my mom’s been helpful but she’s been swamped with work so there’s only so much she can do. And we want to bury him in our yard but that means digging a hole for a 150 lb dog plus the box that will hold him.

But…well…when my dad was working on that today he hit a gas line that we didn’t know was there and panicked and I had to tell him to call 9-11 and leash up three dogs and crate three cats and get them into the cat while trying not to think about my home and everything I own blowing up and being gone forever. Luckily it was fine, we’re all safe and back inside and people took care of the leak, but it was a hell of a day.

I’m so incredibly grateful to have my new kitten in all of this. She’s been an absolute ray of sunshine and has been so sweet and happy and loving. The timing of getting her couldn’t have possibly been better.

Anyway, I’ve been dealing with a lot, as you can tell, and for the first time in months I’ve felt ready to reach out again. I’ve been thinking about you guys almost every day though, and for what it’s worth I’m the type of person who could not see someone for ten years and then when I do it’s like it was yesterday.

I love you guys and I’m sorry it took this long for me to come back. ❤️❤️❤️ }

{ Her name is Mellohi (pr. mellow-high) after a music disc in minecraft lol. We call her Mel, Mellie, or Mello for short.
