Yet another Wings of Fire spoof for you. My previous two were about Winter and Scarlet. Spoilers for Wings of Fire (Legends) Darkstalker, read at your own risk!
But, one day, Fathom found out he was an animus, and his life suddenly became infinitely better. Animus dragons were important, special, interesting; everything Fathom wasn’t. So, if he was an animus, that must make him all those things, right? He would finally be noticed, liked, loved.
He started training with his big, slightly intimidating grandfather on how to better cast spells, and soon started helping him build the SeaWings a new palace. His grandfather definitely trusted him all the way to always do the right thing. He didn’t doubt Fathom one little bit. Nope.
A few years later, Fathom was invited to an important party—because he was important, of course—where Queen Lagoon would be discussing politics with a few SkyWings. Fathom managed to convince her to let him bring Indigo along. But suddenly, out of nowhere, without warning, his grandfather went mad and tried to kill everyone at the party. He… basically did kill everyone at the party. Except for Indigo, Fathom, and his sister Pearl. It was so terrifying that Fathom almost died out of terror.
Fathom and Indigo tried to stop his crazy grandfather, and they succeeded, but Indigo got all the credit for it. Fathom was still too terrified from seeing his grandfather kill everyone to do anything about it.
Since his sister Pearl was literally one of the only dragons who survived the grandfather-massacre, she became the new queen of the SeaWings and declared that all animus magic was banned. Fathom was both relieved and disappointed. He didn’t want to become the boring, useless dragon he was before he knew he was an animus, but he also didn’t want to become a terrorist dragon who was obsessed with killing queens. So, he reluctantly accepted his sister’s ban of magic.
But that wasn’t all. Pearl also said that Fathom couldn’t have any dragonets so that the magic wouldn't spread. Fathom didn’t plan to have any dragonets anyway, but Pearl thought otherwise. She was, for some reason, convinced that Fathom was in love with Indigo and said Fathom could never see Indigo again, which was very unfair. But, it wasn’t until Fathom reluctantly agreed that he realized that he actually was in love with Indigo. Oops. Too late.
After spending many worry-filled years alone and lonely, Fathom was requested to help a young NightWing animus learn not to use his magic so he wouldn’t go insane. Fathom agreed to go (he didn’t want to find himself dead one morning because some crazy animus randomly decided they wanted all the SeaWings dead), and then got to go to yet another important party. This made Fathom uncomfortable, because the last time he went to an important party, everyone started dying.
However, the NightWing animus (who was named Darkstalker) managed to convince Fathom that he wasn’t evil, and he and his girlfriend Clearsight became Fathom’s best friends. Indigo (who had come along to be Fathom’s “bodyguard”) didn’t think he was good, though, and argued with Darkstalker a lot. This made Fathom sad.
Although, it turned out that Indigo was right, and Darkstalker was really evil after all. Darkstalker then proceeded to try and enchant Clearsight and Fathom to follow him blindly, trap Indigo in a statue, enchant his own father to disembowel himself in front of the entire tribe, and plan to kill the NightWing queen and take over Pyrrhia. It was all very terrifying.
Fathom and Clearsight knew they had to stop Darkstalker, so Fathom agreed to enchant a bracelet to put Darkstalker to sleep under a mountain for the rest of eternity. He succeeded, then Clearsight put the bracelet on Darkstalker, trapping him forever. Fathom was immensely relieved.
Fathom then went on to free Indigo from the statue, and together they flew far away from the Night Kingdom and to a remote island off the southeast coast of Pyrrhia. There, they lived happily ever after and raised a non-animus family of dragonets.
The end.
The Terrifying Story of Fathom
(A story written by Prince Fathom of the SeaWings)
~ 🌊 ~
Once upon a time, there was a young, insignificant SeaWing named Fathom. Nobody noticed him, even though he was a prince. His only friend in the whole wide world was another SeaWing named Indigo. Fathom was very boring, dull, and bothersome and especially not special. No one liked him, not even himself.(A story written by Prince Fathom of the SeaWings)
