For Vinyl's thing. Also this is darker than it meant to be? So trigger warning for death, murder ectect Excerpt "His name was Blue, and he had been the first cat that had fallen from grace. He thought that cats who disagreed with the Code still deserved life."
"He was wrong!" we chanted, eyes wide, yearning for the rest of the tale we all knew by heart.
Tami brought her voice to a whisper, and we leaned in to hear, hanging onto every word. "But what could Mika do, for Blue was her own son?"
"Drown him!"
"Cut off his paws!"
"Take him to the wolves!"
Tami shushed us with her tail and a mock disapproving stare. "Death is only a temporary punishment! You kits are too kind to him. Are you going to grow up to be like Blue?" We gave her a chorus of no's and she nodded, satisfied. "Right. So what did Mika do? She gave him the most horrible punishment possible--"
"She turned him into the boulder!"
"Shut up, Umi!"
"Yeah, you ruined the whole story."
The little she-cat cowered under her littermate's glares. "But we all know what's gonna happen," she whined. "Mika turns Blue into the boulder and that's where we do all the killings now, so Blue has to watch them all die forever and ever and ever."
"You tell it boring, Umi, Tami does it better," I stated.
Nuka huffed and stood, his tail flicking angrily. "Yeah, and you missed all of Blue's stupid speech."
"And his screams of fear when he becomes stone," Romi added.
"Now, now, leave your sister be. You four are getting too old for this story anyways," Tami mewed, rising to her paws. She loomed over us, casting us in shadows as she blocked the noontide sun from our faces. Her tabby fur was haloed in gold, her scars crisscrossing her pelt with silver lines. I was awestruck; I knew beyond a doubt that would be me some day. "I think you should be learning to fight instead of listening to kit tales."
"Really?" Romi asked, voicing the disbelief we all felt.
Tami nodded. "I'll talk with Riku. I wouldn't be surprised if you were all initiated before sunset."
{summary up soon}
Would-be plot summary: Kami and his three siblings were born and raised in a cult-like group in which life revolves around a simple but ancient code. They are raised as soldiers and are taught to embrace violence as a solution to anyone who doesn't conform to their way of life. The leadership position is usually given to a female, but eventually Kami's brother, Romi, takes the throne in a competition between himself and his other brother, Nuka. They are both merciless, but while Nuka is stronger, Romi outwits him and kills him to secure his place at the top. He is known as the youngest, bloodiest leader the group has ever had. But Kami realizes his brother leaving a she-cat's bondage lose so she may free herself and later oversees him letting trespassers go free in secret. When Kami confronts his brother, Romi admits that he's like Blue, that he hates the system, but instead of Blue's outright refusal to kill, he knows he has to break the system from the inside, hence his ambition for the top spot. He convinces Kami to aid him, albeit hesitantly, but when Kami tries to recruit their soft-hearted sister, she blows their scheme out into the open and both toms are forced to flee for their lives. While both Nuka and Kami are not actively hunted once they leave the group's territory, they both witness firsthand the concequences of the group's actions and eventually spearhead a growing rebellion in the area to stop the bloody Code and the cats who follow it.

Well, I overheard somebody say some weird things in a conversation yesterday, so I'll give you a piece of dialogue that you need to stitch into a story. "What are you talking about? It has to be orange!"

Well, I overheard somebody say some weird things in a conversation yesterday, so I'll give you a piece of dialogue that you need to stitch into a story. "What are you talking about? It has to be orange!" that would work as a short story prompt, but again not what I'm looking for. I'm looking more for a few random words to draw inspiration from, not a whole statement. Like vinyl's post. Usually three is a good number. Rain, silver, tired. Owl, spin, note

Regret, fear, murder, dog. Trig is a lonely cat most the time. Not that he chooses such a life, but that one is forced upon him. He's stuck in the second life. The afterlife, as some call it. He's waiting to be called to the other side, through the gates that lead to beyond. A cat watches the gates. Their job is to call names, allow the right cat to step up, and admit them to the other side. Trig has watched thousands of cats join him in the small white cube that was what he started to refer to as the waiting room. Some would be called up immediately, others would linger a while before their name was inevitably called. Each time the guard came, Trig waited for his name. Every time the guard called another. Cats came, cats left, and Trig remained, cast off, alone. He didn't know what was on the other side. He's never seen past the gates. Sometimes he thinks he can see the rest through the bars, but the images are warped and fade like fog when he tries to focus on any detail. It is a lonely existance, and one that allows him to take time to think about his life or, more honestly, his death. The pressing terror of feeling the life pulled from his skin. The sharp beat of claws and fangs and his heart like glass. The even greater pain of regret, regret for the life he wasn't allowed to live, torn from him by his murderer's paws. He traced his thoughts back from that moment. Farther and farther into the past, combing every vivid memory of his former life. Somewhere in his past was the reason he wasn't allowed to the afterlife, and he was determined to figure out what exactly that was.

haha darker than I thought when I wrote the first lines but I like the way it turned anyways, even if the 'plot' is quite overused in the 'bros unite to destroy society' but there's a lot of unique turns it could take and the whole Romi vs Nuka fight to the death would be a HUGE twist and just a huge emotional deal for the characters. Honestly would be cool if the fight was NOT a fight to the death originally, just to subdue, but Romi kills Nuka just to show everyone that he'd do literally anything to keep his place. Very powerful message for him and secures him the spot as leader-- which makes his turn to the good side even more powerful too, AND gives him amazing character development flashback opportunities because he'd have to be devastated after killing his brother but he can't show it to anyone and has to hide that so deep down. It might be just me after watching too much edgy anime but I totes see Romi being like a s2 Kaneki or how Snape's story went.

haha maybe. Doubtful I'll have the time though there's so many places it could go
should totes start making these things into ten-part stories. call them tix or smth "a tix is a ten-part short story in a niche genre. Each of the ten parts relates to a central plot or theme with the first primarily being an introductory and staple events occurring at the third, sixth, and ninth parts with the ninth being the climactic event. The tenth chapter, also known as the clean up or epilogue, reflects on the events of the tix and leaves the reader knowing the story will soon draw to a close, also usually throws in a moral for the kicks"
