I grew up on classic rock, so that always has a place in my heart for appreciation. In fact, I can respect most genres and find a song or two I like in each. The only ones I don't like are metal, screamo, and foreign.
That said, most of my favorite artists/songs are alternative (soft rock, punk pop, whatever you want to call it). Also what I like to call "soul pop" (music in the same vein as Adele or Sia).
Imagine Dragons is my favorite, but I also like a good chunk of Fall Out Boy, and bits of P!ATD and OneRepublic. I'm pretty picky in terms of the music I buy, so the rest of my playlist is just one or two tracks from various artists (Rhianna, Calum Scott, Karmina, Boy Epic, etc)

At the moment I've been listening to a lot of classical music, particularly Schubert, Weber and Liszt. I've also discovered some really good Mongolian folk and folk-rock bands, like Hanggai and Altan Urag. Really, though, I listen to a bit of everything; I also like to listen to soul music sometimes... Here are some other artists I like:
•Babymetal •Band-Maid •Siouxsie and the Banshees •Emilie Autumn •Florence + the Machine •Ute Lemper •Led Zeppelin •Howlin' Wolf •The Red Army Choir •Amy Winehouse

Metal, rap, a mixture of the two. Hard rock. Hollywood Undead, Lorene Drive, Three Days Grace, Black Veil Brides, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Breathe Carolina are what I listen to the most
I refuse to listen to country and and most classic rock, and an assortment of classical (like classical music) pieces, especially some from more famous composers

-the Young People's Chorus of NYC - seriously, they are beyond amazing. Not just musically but the fact that they do so much at promoting equality and diversity and so much more. I went to their concert in June after singing with them for my summer program several times and it pretty much changed my life) -Jim Papoulis - he mostly writes for children's choirs and his music is really positive and inspiring; much of it written to be sung from the viewpoint of a young child, mixing styles from around the world -a lot of musical theater stuff -Sleeping at Last (I don't really listen to anything else like it but it's really good)

quick-paced alternative, rock, or alt/indie rock. such as: the strokes, cage the elephant i enjoy certain slow-paced songs, but most usually make me agitated and impatient. male singers are generally a must as well. heck you lana del ray.

I used to like very, very minimal amount of classic rock. I can't stand pretty much any music now, though. Hope I'm not alone there.
I just don't like the noise.

I actually used to know a guy who also didn't enjoy music. He preferred silence, or sometimes in the car he'd listen to news channels/podcasts instead.

I love synthpop. Vaporwave is good too. I don't really 'like' any artists, except CHVRCHES. Like, if I happen to like 2 or 3 of their songs then I might go check the others out, but if I like just 1 song I'm probably not going to listen to any of the others. Unless that song happens to be amazing, which got me into CHVRCHES with Gun.
