Colored lines actually don't look bad. They don't look good either, but if you used it enough and integrated it into your style over time, it has good potential!

OOC Yeah I can see that. To be fair, the colored lines picture is blurry cause I had to enlarge it, and it's drawn entirely digitally, unlike usual where I draw it traditionally first. If I had drawn it the same way I had with Gloo, (black lines) it probably would have looked better.

I feel like line color ultimately depends on the picture in question. Certain colors just aren't going to look good with certain pieces.

i really like the colored lines!! i'm sure some people would disagree with me, but i feel like plain black lines make the rest of the colors look duller in a lot of art, and colored lines sorta give more depth

I usually draw with black lines, but for this one, I'm really beginning to like the colored lines, tbh.

For cartoonish art or unrealistic, black lineart is fine. However, if you're going for a more realities style, you're gonna want those lines to be gone and shade in the values.

personal opinion here, but i would opt for coloured lines (even darkly coloured lines that hinge on black) over actual black every time. it just sort of brings the picture together more and makes the other colours pop, in my opinion. plus it's a fairly simple way to add to mood and warmth

I usually use coloured lines but only one colour?? black makes it look really flat but too many colours makes it feel really busy to me so depending on the colours in the piece already I'll either line in a dark blue (for cool palettes) or red (for warmer ones), possibly purple or brown. sometimes I'll line one specific area with another colour (eyes, usually, or something I want to draw attention to) but it's never more than two or three. it looks cleaner than a lot of colours to me.
honestly though, with lines anything goes. even no lines. it's all up to personal preference and the actual artwork as well as the artist. anything can look good

I like both a lot! I think you could benefit from using a slightly thinner line for either – it would make your art style pop by giving it a crisper look. I also like the one without the eyebrows, since the black spots look somewhat like eyebrows already? What cool art, thanks for sharing with the community!

Late but honestly when I can't decide. I put a black layer mask on the coloured line art and then lower the opacity to a certain level where it's kinda... Perfect? Hard to explain Pfft. This is why I couldn't be a teacher.

I personally like near-black lines (they don't even have to be the same colour as whatever you're drawing so you can use them to help set the mood of the picture- deep red could be passion or anger, for example.) plus, it helps it blend into the background
alpha lock will be your friend for this, just do black lineart then switch it on and use a massive brush to change between them and decide what u like best
