》Stormpaw《 ............................................................................
The crisp night air was enough to stir Stormpaw from his deep slumber, uncoiling his tail from his frame and sitting up. Ears perked, the young tom glanced around the camp, his dark blue eyes scanning the cool cavern. His ears swiveled as he heard Poppyspirit's voice chime up from across the way. Paws prickling with anticipation, the silver tabby trotted over to his leader, whiskers quivering slightly. "Hunting patrol?" he echoed, furrowing his eyebrows. "Anyone else tagging along?" Stormpaw silently hoped his sister, Sandypaw would be joining them, but he knew she had been feeling ill the past few sunsets, so she was probably still in the medicine den with Cinderfeather.

Poppyspirit wasn't going to bring along any more cats. Hunting in the open didn't favor extra cats. However, the tom's question caught her attention. A larger patrol meant they could hunt larger prey. Monitor Lizards and birds of prey were large enough for several cats. Even one would fill the dwindling pile nicely. It was usually more dangerous than Poppyspirit would like, but the sparse fresh kill pile lingered at the back of her mind. It was time for the tom to learn how to hunt the dangerous prey, Poppyspirit decided. "We might have a couple of cats coming along, if they show." She said stiffly. Her ears flicked as she listened to the camp.

》Stormpaw《 ............................................................................
Nodding slightly, Stormpaw's gaze flickered around the camp, but it seemed that everyone else was still in their nests or had already begun their night. A part of him wanted to check on Sandypaw in the medicine den, but he knew he'd just get in Cinderfeather's way. Flexing his claws, the young tom shifted from side to side, eager to be on their way. "Well, I'm ready when you are!" he chirped cheerily, clearly excited for the hunt. ............................................................................

Hello everyone. I really want to get the ball moving on the plot, so I was thinking the south of their territory could have had a fire while the cats were sleeping. Meaning, when the cats go out hunting, the south of their territory is going to be black and brown, and even possibility still smoking.)

(yep!)
Flamepetal padded over to the others. "Do you need one more cat?" She asked. Her eyes didn't do anything but give an empty, cold stare. It seemed as if she was a robot, with no emotions. She had a small, fake smile, but she didn't do too well trying to make it seem realistic.

Poppyspirit turned to look at Flamepetal. She seemed experienced enough. A bit of an odd cat, but the she-cat was a good huntress. She would be fine to come along on Stormpaw's first large prey hunt. The leader gave the she-cat a short nod. "We will be trying to hunt a falcon." She announced while turning to lead the patrol out of camp. Once outside, she noticed it was warmer than usual. The wind was bringing in a cool current from the North and the sun was gone, but the leader felt heat soaking into her pelt. She hummed, but didn't bother with it any further. Heat waves came and went. A little strange but nothing unusual. She started to head toward the open plain, despite the bad feeling forming in her gut. "How do you think we catch falcons, Stormpaw?" She asked her apprentice without looking back.

The orange she-cat brought up the rear, keeping a keen eye on Stormpaw. She didn't doubt his training, as any cat Poppyspirit had mentored was a brilliant warrior. The reason she kept watch was because he was still an apprentice, and she knew how distracted they could get if they see a flicker of movement. She herself had been like that. I think he'll be a fine edition to NightClan., she thought. The heat suddenly hit her skin underneath her thick fur. "That isn't right," she murmured under her breath.

~~~~~~~~~ 𝕋𝔼𝔸ℝℙ𝔸𝕎 ~~~~~~~~~ TearPaw padded over. "Can I come?" She asked, a little shyly. She looked up at the older warriors with hopeful eyes. Then, she heard Swiftpaw pad up behind her. She turned around, she was limping. "What's wrong?!" She asked. "It's just a thorn." She said. She looked at her old denmate and purred. Tearpaw was always worried about Swiftpaw because of her parents. Swiftpaws parents ignored her altogether. Never even saying a word to her. ~~~~~~~~~
<< Nami i think they've already left>> Greynose looked quietly at his apprentice. "Maybe next time, Tearpaw. We should wait and focus on smaller prey for now." He sounded sympathetic, as he could sense how badly she wanted to patrol with them. On the inside, he knew the young she-cat was too inexperienced and under-trained to hunt for prey as large as a falcon.
~~~~~~~~~ 𝕋𝔼𝔸ℝℙ𝔸𝕎 ~~~~~~~~~ She looked down at her paws in disappointment. She wasn't that good at hunting anyway. She was pretty good at chasing rabbits though! Maybe she and Greynose and Swiftpaw and Sweetflame could go hunting snakes! She licked her jaws at the thought of snake. It might be dangerous but it tasted amazing. "Can we go hunting snakes with Swiftpaw and Sweetflame then?" She asked enthusiastically. Her skinny tail waived in the air in excitement. ~~~~~~~~~~

"Horned Viper. Poisonous. We could try either Jerboas or hares. I don't want to endanger anyone." The warrior's gaze looked to Swiftpaw. "If you can't get the thorn out, we could take you to see Cinderfeather. Hunting here is extremely hard if you have a limp slowing you down. I will go check with Sweetflame to see if she's up for hunting." Greynose padded off quickly, looking for his fellow clanmate.

SweetFlame padded up, nodding. "I heard. I'll come." She said calmly. // Swiftpaw got the thorn out and bounded over to Tearpaw excitedly. "I remember when your mother gave us Jerboah! It was delicious!" She mewed happily. // Tearppaw had spaced out, nodding in silent aggrement.

"Good. Thank you," he said. He padded back to the two. "So I'm guessing you got the thorn out?" He asked with an amused, almost silent, purr. Greynose shot Tearpaw a concerned glance. "Before we leave, can you show me your hunting crouch?"

Okay. Insanity, I'm thinking Sandypaw will be mentored by Flamepetal. Is this okay with you? That leaves Swiftpaw to be mentored by Moonflight or Honeywhisper. MistyPaw, do you want to wait or have one of those two as your cat's mentor? )

》Stormpaw《 ............................................................................
The tom's dark blue eyes shined in the moonlight, his tail flicking eagerly at Poppyspirit's words. He bounded after her, keeping a couple paw steps behind as she questioned him. He looked thoughtful for a moment, as if he were truly thinking about her words. "Well, since it's a big bird you need at least two cats to take it down," he began, swishing his tail behind him lazily. "One in front of the bird and one behind it? Or maybe two cats jump up to grab it at first.." he trailed off, uncertain of his answer. He'd never hunted such a large bird before. He suddenly felt the heat the pair had been discussing, warming his sleek fur. He glanced up at the dark night sky, expecting to see a soft red tint due to the sunset, but only saw cold, glittering stars. "Poppyspirit, why is it so.. bright over there?" He chose his words carefully, looking over to the soft glow between the trees.

Swiftpaw nodded and sat down. // SweetFlame purred as she padded over, sitting down next to Swiftpaw. // Tearpaw leaned into her best hunting crouch. But she failed miserably...She looked up at Greynose as he looked over her stance. // SweetFlame padded over and put her nose on Tearpaws haunches, nosing them down a notch. She licked Tearpaws nose affectiontly brfor sitting back down.

Greynose nodded and gave Sweetflame a grateful glance. "The key things most fresh apprentices' forget is how low you have to go. Your stomach can't touch the ground, otherwise, you might make noise, which of course scares prey. Your tail has to stay completely still, not touching the ground either." He lifted Tearpaw's tail just slightly. "There."

The tom's guess was not what she was looking for. She was more looking for how to lure the bird down. The leader supposed he still answered or, really, tried to. For some reason, the tom decided to trail off. the leader's tail tip flicked. Poppyspirit opened her jaw to tell the tom how to hunt, but froze. Her mouth snapped shut when seeing Stormpaw's mentioned bright area. Her eyes widened as she stared at the faint yellow glow. It moved and flicked like it had a life of its own. In seconds, everything clicked together. Then, she was off. Despite her mind telling her to go back, she ran toward the light. She had to know if it was what she feared. She stopped where the grassland should have been. Her puffed-up tail lashed and her eyes scanned the black land. Plumes of smoke rose from the glowing ground. Some fire still clung onto the trees and shrubs. She took a tentative step forward but quickly retracted her paw with a hiss. The ground was still burning.

"This feels weird!" She complained. She didn't like the position and shifted it so that she was comfortable. She started stalking forward, making almost no noise. She sat up after she had gone a few tail lengths and started washing her fur. She looked up after she washed. "Can we go now?" She asked.

As soon as Poppyspirit made a mad dash for the trees, Stormpaw sprinted after her. He kept up with her, his long legs helping him as he bobbed and weaved after his leader and mentor. When she skidded to a halt, the silver tom followed in suit, shaking out his fur as his sides heaved. He peered past Poppyspirit, padding over to stand beside her, that was when he saw it. The great plumes of smoke tainting the beautiful night sky, large orange and yellow waves of fire crashing down onto the grassland, singeing the soft land. "P-Poppyspirit, it's on fire!"

Poppyspirit nodded dumbly in response to her apprentice. She couldn't think of anything to say. Her eyes remanded fixed on the fire as it devour her territory. Her flank rose and fell in short, heavy breaths. The wind changed direction, bring the scent of fire and death toward the cats. Her black muzzle wrinkled and she recoiled slightly. The leader grabbed ahold of herself. Now is not the time to stare, she scolded herself. "We need to go back to camp." She said, her normal no-business tone returning. A plan already formed in her mind. She needed to make sure every cat was accounted for, organize the clan, and then make a plan on how to deal with all of this. She would need to visit the medicine cat as well. "Let's go." She said, tapping her apprentice's shoulder with her tail. She turned and started to quickly pad her way back to camp.

Stormpaw appeared anxious as his mentor spoke, but he decided not to argue with her. He fixed his dark, blue irises on the fire as it engulfed trees and shrubs. A pang of fear washed over him momentarily but he swiftly pushed it away. Swiveling on his heels, he raced after the black feline, tail lashing out behind hm. "Are we going to put out the fire?" he asked as the two made their way toward home.

Now, that was one of the most mousebrain things her apprentice had ever said. She would have thought he would know better or at least be able to think before speaking. Her tail flicked. She supposed he had never been around a fire before. He didn't know how the flames burned while the smoke suffocated cats. "No, we cannot. The ground is still scorching." Her paw throbbed in a painful reminder of this fact. "Even if we could get to the flames, there is nothing to put to out with. Dirt wouldn't enough to stop these flames. We don't have warriors to spare if anyone gets burned or sick from the smoke." She said curtly and simply. It was clear she wasn't going to give the tom a second to protest. "I need you to check on the apprentices, queens, and elders when we get into camp. Flamepetal, you have the warriors. I will get the medicine cats and their den. Make sure no one has left." She looked back to check for a nod from both cats.

(sorry for my absence-) Flamepetal gave her leader an abrupt nod. I can't believe this. She blinked and looked back at the scorched earth from afar. Her paws itched with slight anger towards Mother Nature. Instead of hunting, she'd be galloping around camp making sure none of the warriors had set foot outside of the camp territory. As long as Sandypaw had stayed and waited. She didn't exactly want her apprentice near the place of the fire.
