A thread reminded me of one of the dumbest things I've ever done, and I certainly instantly regretted it.
I was in year 10 or something and I was presenting some terrible science 'experiment' to some people who had come up to the school from primary school. I did this every year that I was there because it was an excuse not to do normal lessons..... Anyway, I can't remember what I was presenting now, but it something to do with boiling water in a beaker with a Bunsen burner. I've done that plenty of times and so I wasn't paying too much attention to it. I was talking about what I was going to do when I noticed it was boiling so I picked up the beaker.... yup... the beaker. One thing went through my mind at this point, and unfortunately it was "I have to go through with this." I gently place the beaker on the mat and then I have a sore hand that I need to get under cold water for... a while. Already at the instant regret point here but might as well resolve the story. Anyway, I went to the side whilst talking for a bit and put my hand under the cold tap. They probably noticed I was dumb enough to pick up a very hot beaker for quite a long time.... I have no idea why I thought I needed to go through with it...
Anyway, what's a dumb thing you've done? Better if it could have been easily avoided by thinking it through for any more time than no time at all.

When I was younger I collected Bella Sara cards. I had hundreds of them, and then one day I just threw them all away because I didn't want them anymore
I regret it a lot and I'm mad at myself for doing that.

Yesterday my fiance shouted something really inappropriate in the car in the chick fil a drive through after we ordered our food and pulled up a little bit without realizing his window was still wide open. And when i told him and how dare he foul this Good Christian Establishment™ i swear i saw his very soul escape his body.
When we rolled up to get our food i could tell the cashier knew it was him so it was also largely uncomfortable and I could not stop howling in laughter but the secondhand embarassment was real.

in 5th grade there was this kid who was always a jerk to me. Like I didn't do anything to him but he always liked to pick on me even though I tried to be friendly.
one day I was walking home from school with one of my friends and I heard him yell from behind me "move, idiots!" and we turned around and he was like 50 ft behind us on his bike. so we move out of the way and wait for him to pass us but honestly I decided that I had had enough of this dude so without really thinking I pushed him off his bike as he went past. He was pissed. It would have been really cool if I kept my composure but I was a tiny 10 year old so I was like "omg im so sorry idk why i did that!!!!!" and felt really bad and he was like on the verge of tears and got back on his back and rode away really fast. and my friend was like shocked at me lol but she was fine with it.
after that he stopped being a jerk to me though so I guess it worked out? It was one of those things where you regret it in the moment but now I'm not sorry that I did it. He deserved it

Telling half of the jokes i do
They all come out meaner than I intended and i don't want to hurt feelings
But then like after its said you can't really take it back and just?? I hate it so much because i'm always so sure they're funny until i read them over and over and realize one little part makes it sound like it could be serious
It kills me

When I was young, I had the original Pokemon both Ruby and Sapphire games. I didn't understand back then what it meant when a Pokemon wanted to be "babied" and I thought that my Swampert didn't like me anymore. I released the Swampert (which was so close to level 100..), and then I felt like the game was meaningless without it. I grew bored of my games, sold them at Gamestop, and used the money I got from Sapphire and Ruby for Pokemon cards. I still regret this to this day because I had a shiny Linoone in that Sapphire file.
I bought Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and I don't plan to make the same mistake again with these games! I am keeping them this time.
