There actual Nazis marching right now and Twitter is freaking out, but there's hardly anything on Facebook about it. There has been a car that has hit over a dozen people, one person was killed because of it. To me this is absolutely terrifying.
I hope everybody stays safe, and the white supremacists get what they deserve.

Free speech is when you can say something like I hate so and so behind keyboard or something, where it doesn't matter. But marching on a university/public property with pitchforks and torches all the while quoting Adolf Hitler is not freedom of speech.

I heard about it earlier, but didn't look into it until just now. And now I wish I didn't. What has this world come to?

This is horrible. Someone died thanks to needless, mindless violence. Not to mention the sickening hate speech. It isn't right.
If any of you are in that area, stay safe.

I saw a video of the car driving into the crowd on Twitter. It was terrifying. This whole thing is terrifying. People are saying the car thing was a scared driver, but the videos are blackened and it sped up before going into the crowd. Definitely not an accident

tbh i'm glad the neo-nazis make themselves known, so people can recognize them, not put up with their trash, and hit them with some ****in facts. not that they'd listen, but oh well, if anything it probably makes their victim complex (oh, the irony) stronger :(

I saw too. It's horrible. Free speech is one thing, but it is being used in a violent way and people are being hurt physically. This is way beyond free speech at this point, and it needs to be shut down.
The people behind this need to be arrested, and I pray for the family/friends of the victim who was killed so senselessly. This has to stop.

Free speech ends when it goes beyond just being a hateful idiot; and full on goes into hurting others physically. It's sickening that it's come to this honestly. And everything is about politics. Democrats and Republicans are so damn busy trying to get at each other, they could care less about actual issues and the people they're supposed to be keeping safe. It's very frustrating, and why we need more than just those two as our main parties.

Free speech is what lets you tell them they're wrong If there wasn't free speech, the gov't could shut you down for standing up to them

I couldn't tell: was it white supremacists getting hit by the car, or a white supremacist hitting someone with their car?

I couldn't tell: was it white supremacists getting hit by the car, or a white supremacist hitting someone with their car? Basically here's the rundown: The driver was a white supremacist and a neo-nazi. The people he hit were counter-protesters protesting the white supremacist rally. The white supremacist rally were initially protesting against the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville.

I couldn't tell: was it white supremacists getting hit by the car, or a white supremacist hitting someone with their car? Doesn't really matter. It was absolutely disgusting either way. We need to condemn violence no matter who starts it, not do the "us vs them" thing.

We need to condemn violence no matter who starts it, not do the "us vs them" thing. It actually does matter. I understand what you're trying to get at but its important to stress just how dangerous and evil the nazis and white supremacists really are. It was right wing domestic terrorism. Learn it. Say it. It's a nice sentiment to condemn all violence but it's not relevant here. The violence came from the racist right. Saying that it doesn't matter who killed who is an attempt at deflecting. It matters. Everyone knows that violence is bad. When someone asks which side was responsible for killing an innocent counter protester, the correct answer is not "it doesn't matter".

I don't know if it's the right in me or what, but I think Nazis need to be killed. I don't care what you believe in but when you act upon your beliefs in a way that causes innocent people to get hurt, you need punished and beaten. Screw non-violence, you're not going to end white supremacy or Nazism by hugging it out. You're going to end it by punching them in the face so hard people around them will be like "oh, it's probably not a good idea to be racist"

(tw: swearing)
this video sums up my opinion perfectly. do not call yourself an american if you're waving the confederate flag and screaming about how much you're a neo-nazi. two groups that have been beaten to death by the country you dare to flatter yourself by saying you're a part of.
