i'm a combo of shy/quiet/introverted and basically though i have some close friends i've always struggled in social situations and because i still crave that connection with people, i often feel really lonely and sad when hanging out in groups. it's ruined a lot of opportunities and experiences for me.
anyways, my twin has been seeing a therapist for several years bc of their selective mutism. and just recently i brought up my frustration with my mother so we've arranged for me to meet with her therapist in my own sessions. i just had my first one and it was great, we just discussed struggles and goals but i almost lost it when we were talking bc this is something i've wanted to improve for a hecka long time. basically it's governed my life since kindergarten. i've always been seen as a shy, quiet kid and i always get comments on my quietness and it just rly bothers me sometimes, even though i don't want to totally rid myself of my shyness and quietness because i do think those are traits that should be appreciated more & louder people are often too quick to . but this is a huge step for me bc i really want to branch out and not miss out on a bunch of relationships i could be forming and i want to carry conversations better and i'm just so excited :")
