Oh my god.... so we found out today, that my brother has two birth defects in his heart. He's only in the eighth grade. They weren't noticeable until recently. He does circus arts, which requires a lot of strength and oxygen, because it involves climbing ropes and fabric, swinging from the trapeze, a bunch of really neat stuff. He's going to have to have heart surgery during the holidays to fix it... but even if it's fixed, I don't think he's going to be allowed to go back and do that. It's so sad, because he loves doing those classes so much, it's his biggest passion. And he also wants to be a pilot like my dad, but he can't do that now either because of this. He also wanted to start working out at the gym, and he can't do that because they won't allow him to exercise by lifting weights. I had birth defects in my heart when I was born to, two holes that were able to be repaired, but it wasn't as big of a deal as this is, I think. It's a different situation.

oh god :( while it's unfortunate that he probably won't be able to pursue his passion anymore, it seems to be a good thing that you've caught it sooner than later. he will be able to grow up and while he may not be able to pursue his ideal careers, he'll be able to find something else to do that he enjoys... i understand if it feels like the end of the world for him, though. i'd be devastated as well, especially at that age :(

Thank you guys. He seems to be taking it really well right now, (he doesn't know about the pilot part yet though), I just hope his surgery goes well. My uncle had the same problem around the same age, and he's doing fine.
