Ugh, I just need to rant a little.
So at my work I have always opened because I prefer it. I have really bad anxiety when it comes to handling large amounts of somebody elses money so closing has always made me really anxious. The one and only time I have closed by myself the deposit was over by $40 and I had a panic attack.
Now I work at petco, so retail. My schedule is all over the place but its never closing because I have told my boss MY ONLY REQUEST is that I do morning/mid day shifts. Thats it. I dont care if I never get two days off in a row but I only wants days. Which for the last 4 months (my entire petco career) it has been fine.
Well the assistant manager and I get along great, but he doesnt get how anxious I get and is starting to complain because I never work evenings. I dont know why he is having problems with just me because their are 5 other people who are capable of doing it (kinda, three are new so they arent trained. Me, my assistant manager, and the store manager are the trained once even though I have only done it once by myself)
Today he told me "Im changing the schedule so you will close. you have to do it." and I just dont understand why I have to. He literally said "you signed up for this gig." I didnt sign up for wonky schedules. I was promised that I would only close once in a blue moon and thats all I want. I dont understand how its hard.

Well, since you where promised to have to close only once in a great while, then he should honor that promise, unless he's having you close for a while to build your confidence in closing.
Thing is though, when you take a job, you have to be prepared for schedule changes and to overcome things you struggle with. Some bosses will work with their employees but most bosses fully expect their employees to adapt to changes in their work schedule, as well with things they have trouble with.

I mean I get that, but all I want is a fairly set schedule. This week I literally work thursday, off friday, work saturday, off Sunday, work Monday, off tuesday and work the rest of the week until next wednesday I think. I kind of know thats exactly what he is doing. I have told him that it makes me anxious and he says "tough, you have to be comfortable doing it." which fine, but I dont get why I have to close considering their are 4 other people besides me who can work.
