Greetings, I've been wanting to do an rp loosely based of a DS game made by Square Enix called The World Ends With You. You don't need to have played the game since for one it's old, and two it's not well known. I'll write down the information from the game we'll be using in the plot part. As for rules all I ask is that you type close to a paragraph, or more. I don't care if you miss a comma, or anything just don't give me a reply that you didn't put effort into. "She ran to the store" isn't a good rp response. As for if you want to write more than one paragraph I'll respond with something close to what you give me. One more thing this rp is open for more than one person if more wanna join. We can get by with just two of us though.
Now for the plot:
The Reaper Games are a deadly survival game where losing will cost your existence, but winning will earn you your life back. To be entered in the game you must give up your most talented skill you had in life, and you must have died in the real world. Once you have entered the game you must quickly find a partner as you will be defenseless without one. No rules are placed for picking a partner from the players as long as they agree, and don't already have one. The reason you want a partner is every day for the seven days of a week you will be given a mission that you must complete within a time limit, however only one pair of partners have to complete the mission. The missions seem basic enough "Head to building 104 in Shibuya. You have 300 minutes." However each section of the town has a wall, and to get past the wall you must find Reapers who are wearing red hoodies. These are support reapers who will give you a small objective to meet if you wanna continue through Shibuya. While completing the missions monsters known as noises are attacking the town, and will attack the players. Some noises are just trying to erase people, while some give people negative feelings. To defeat the reaper you must team up with your partner to use special pins that give you powers such as controlling fire, and all that good stuff.
While the players are going through missions none support reapers are tasked with making sure players fail. They aren't allowed to attack the players, but they can summon strong boss noises to attack the players. However they can only do this during the mission once it's complete they are to leave the players alone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(To join make a brief character description. I'm going to make mine short, but if you want go wild!)
Name | Age |Gender Appearance Personality Death, and talent they gave up
Characters: --------------------Partner set 1------------------
Shinji Montinzaki | 18 | Male Shinji is a high school dropout, and shut in. However he is ugly in fact many people think he could be a actor with his looks. He stands at 6'5, and has neck length light brown hair, and a lean body build. He tends to wear a white dress shirt, and black dress pants. He also carries a red jacket over his shoulder just in case he needs it. He tends to always have a frown, or annoyed facial expression, and a pair of black headphones always on. Shinji is a shy guy who tends to whisper when he is forced to talk to people. He loves video games, and manga to the point where he has an entire room filled with a collection of both video games, and manga. He is a very intelligent hacker, and could hack pretty much anything he wanted. Shinji died during the best day of his life, he had got his crush to go on a date with him, and left his room for the first time in years. He died pushing his crush out of the way from a car. The talent he gave up to enter the Reaper game was his hacking skills.
Valkoinen Leuka | 21 | Female
Valkoinen is a pale women, standing barely 5'4". She has long white hair and pale eyes. She tends to hide herself under a green hood, partially to avoid sunburn and partially to avoid the attention of other people. She usually wears clothes meant for laying around the house, meaning sweats and t-shirts. It's very difficult to convince her to wear anything nice.
Valkoinen is more or less paranoid and unsocial. She's stubborn and usually angry when she's forced to deal with others. Being something of a recluse, she paid for her apartment through multiple at-home means. Most of them were coding and digital design free-lance jobs, but her primary income was based in carrying people through levels in various online games. She never really kept contact with anyone she carried, though she did have a decent venturing party that she enjoyed playing with, though she never said so.
The only thing Valkoinen was willing to leave the house for was combat lessons. She became a decent fighter, though during a competition, she unknowingly received a strike to the head that caused a fair amount of internal damage. She ended up falling asleep and not waking up. In order to enter the game, she gave up her coordination in games.

(My friend told me about it and I found the guidebook in a secondhand store. I bought it for her for christmas, but not before reading it and seeing if I was interested in the game. I was, so I got it. I only got passed the First Mission, but its been so long I have to start over and relearn the controls. I'll make my character info in just a second.)

A moment ago the area was filled with the noise of the streets. Families bonding, couples bickering, friends talking about what they wanted to do. Just a whole bunch of talking that overlapped throughout the town. That was just a normal day in Shibuya even at night the city was just as busy. This was one reason Shinji never left his room, until the day his school crush had contacted him. They were on a date, and he was enjoying it for once in his life, a life outside of the confines of his room. However while he was using the bathroom he came out of the gas station to find his date about to get hit by a car, and being the man he was he jumped in the way, and pushed her to safety while he himself had well.... Appeared here. The town was still full of noise, but this time it was different.... As if he could hear what they were thinking. After a moment of just standing there he shook his head, he remembered it clearly. He had been dying, and was given the chance at being reborn if he won a game. This must have been that game.
Walking over to a nearby person he stuck his hands in his pockets. "Yo, can you tell me where I am?" He asked he wasn't big on the streets of this town since he was a shut in. However as he asked the question the guy didn't even react. After a few more seconds Shinji walked over to another person, and got the same reaction. At this point he was getting the idea they couldn't see him until he tried walking to another section of the town, and felt himself collided with a wall. "Wha?" He questioned, and was about to attempt to go again when a guy in a red hoodie walked over. "Want past the wall? Make a pact." The hooded figure informed him, and Shinji rubbed his head in confusion. ".... A pact?" Shinji questioned, but the red hoodied guy didn't respond to that. Sighing Shinji turned around to try, and find what that meant. It had to be a part of the game so he figured he might as follow his new orders. He was only told a few rules of the game before being put into it. He heard about getting missions, and timer but this smaller mission seemed to be more like a side quest in a video game. "A pact, huh?" He asked as he looked around for something to give him a sign of what that meant.

Valkoinen had been lurking around long enough to find that people didn't seem to notice when she spoke to them. This became fairly irritating. She knew this was Shibuya (the enormous crossing was famous, as was the train station) but she'd never really spent much time here. She didn't know what was were, north from south. It was disorienting and she bore a very upset scowl on her face as she tried again to get the attention of another passerby. She stopped in front of them, fists curled at her sides in frustration. She started to speak her question, but seeing as the stranger's eyes just gazed right through her undisturbed, her words caught in her throat. She stepped out of the way before they reached her and she started walking again. Perhaps she should try another area? But which road led where?
Though it seemed no one could see her, she pulled the hood of her cowl up over her head, tucking her hair out of sight. It felt just a little bit protecting. She wanted to go back to the apartment... She wanted to just get back on one of the MMO's and power level herself for the next dungeon so she could add it to her list. But that wasn't going to happen until this stupid game was over. Kind of a pain in the rear, no one would realize she was really gone. Her regular party knew her subscription was almost up and needed to be renewed. They notice she was offline and just assume she was working for the money to extend it. Still, it made her feel more isolated than usual.
Her thoughts were interrupted as a sudden strike on her forehead and then the rest of her made her stop. Rather, there was no where to keep moving to. Her expression turned confused, and then irritated once more. She stepped back, a bit embarrassed and glad no one could see her, before moving a hand forward and trying to push against the invisible force. A wall? Why would you make an invisible wall? Make it visible and then lift it when I clear whatever I have to do here! She thought to herself. Perhaps the walls were invisible so whoever the game masters were could have a chuckle every time a player ran headfirst into one?

Shinji stood still in the busy city watching as people went on with their days as if he didn't exist. Which was true since he was suppose to be dead. Sighing he put on his headphones, and played song with low volume as it would help him think. Form a pact.. the thought made him slightly worried. A pact was a form of connection with another person, but how could he form one when no one in this damn town would notice him. As he listened to his song something else came into his mind a male's voice... Though it wasn't something someone would say aloud. 'Man I wish this idiot would shut up before I kill her.' The thought came from a guy with a skull cap. "So this is mind reading." He stated, and was about to listen to another person when he noticed a girl run into the wall. "No... way!?"
Without a second's hesitation he ran over to the girl, and stopped a few steps away from her, as he tried to think of what to say to someone he didn't know. Hey stranger you stuck playing this game as well? Was one of the thoughts he had. After a few seconds of thinking he stuck his hands in his pockets, and cleared his throat. "Yo, can you hear me?" He question to the girl with a small light of hope in his chest. No one else seemed to be going near the wall, so he was hoping this was a way to tell if someone was a player, or reaper. "I'm Shinji Montinzaki." He introduced himself still hoping this girl was player.

Valkoinen hadn't heard him approach, so she jumped a bit when he spoke. She turned around quickly, already becoming defensive. She accidentally overlooked his question. "Good for you, get-" She stopped. She'd been about to say 'get lost', but it hit her like a bag of bricks. "You can see me? And hear me, too I'm guessing..." She replied, turning quiet.
Great, she found someone who she could interact with and she was clamming up. She didn't want to interact. She wanted to play this game on her own. She could win without someone else, she was sure of it! Still, it seemed like she wouldn't be able to get past this zone without some sort of partner. Her frustration showed again and she couldn't help but pulling her hood down further over her face, standing in silence for a few moments. She needed to come up with something to say.
"Are you stuck here too?" She asked finally. She internally praised herself for not snapping her question like she usually did when she had to deal with others.

(Sorry for slow responses, playing FFXIII.) Shinji couldn't help, but sigh in relief as he heard her respond to him. She seemed to be a bit anti-social, but he could work with that if he had to. He always found it easier to talk with people that didn't act all friendly right away. He didn't react when she almost told him to get lost, mainly because she didn't finish the statement. "Yep, playing this dumb game." He responded in his quiet voice, and pulled out his phone when he felt it vibrate.
Flipping it open his eyes scanned the options available there was a map of shibuya, a section to see the mission, and in big letters a message telling him a player without a partner was nearby. It was clearly the girl he was currently speaking to. In smaller letters under that message was how to form the pact that was needed. "That red hooded guy told me I have to form a pact with someone to move on." He informed her, and raised a finger to his chin. "So how about it? It says on our phones all we have to scan are phones together." He added it seemed easy enough to him.

"Phone...." Valkoinen paused. Did she bring it wit? She hadn't had it on her when she'd fallen asleep, so she'd assumed it would be at home. She patted the pockets on her pants, looking surprised to find that indeed she had her phone. She pulled it out and opened it, still very puzzled. She couldn't worry about how, she just had to assume since it was essential for the game, that she'd been given it
She had a message? From who? She didn't know anyone by this name, but reading over the message made her think she probably wouldn't get many more answers unless she cleared this wall. "We absolutely have to have someone for the next zone, don't we...?" She mumbled out loud. She still didn't like it, but being stubborn wasn't going to help her. Being a pain in the backside wasn't going to get her back home. "I suppose we could try it." She replied with a small sigh. She looked around briefly, not sure if she was looking for any one else playing the game, or if she was just stalling. She couldn't really afford to be doing either but she was uneasy. She'd agreed despite knowing how much she could trust this kid.

Shinji watched her for a bit he could easily tell she wasn't going to stick around long after they passed the wall. She seemed like a lone wolf to him, which was fine by him he didn't want to bring her down. "Eh, if you really want just ditch me once we get past the wall." He laughed as he said it he was used to being abandoned by friends back in the real world so being ditched now was no skin off his back. "Here let me began the process." He added quickly scanning there phones, and as he did the pins they had been given lit up slightly indicating they were now useable as long as they worked together.
However they hadn't formed the pact because of the pins in fact Shinji hadn't even realized he had the pins yet. Once forming the pact the hooded figure gave them a quick nod, and the wall blocking there route was now open. "I wonder when we'll get the rea-" He started, but was stopped as his phone went off. Opening it he saw one message by the game maker, and so he quickly opened it. 'Clear out the noise in the park. You have twenty minutes fail, and face erasure.' Then as if right on time their hands stung a bit as the timer got placed on there arms. "Well... At least we know how to win now." He stated, and got ready to continue to the next section of the town which seemed to be the park the mission just talked about.

Valkoinen again looked confused and a bit startled when the pins lit up. When had these gotten here? What were they, even, and why were they part of the game? This gameplay function wasn't properly explained!
As the wall despawned, she looked briefly at the road, then back at the kid as her own phone displayed the message. Shinji, was it? She would have considered taking off, but she didn't know how to get to the park from here. Or what noise was supposed to be. Like someone was playing an instrument badly and they had to go stop them? She wasn't sure what the message was supposed to mean.
"I really don't know this area..." She admitted slowly. Twenty minutes didn't seem like a lot of time to wander around lost. And then they had to figure out this noise thing.

Shinji looked at the pins for a bit, and sighed not knowing what they did, but he figured he'd figure it out sooner, or later. Go past the wall he continued walking to the park. He was a shut in, but he was also a hacker so he tended to hack the cameras around town so he kind of knew his way about the town. As for the noise he had no idea either he just figured it would be something annoying, and he'd need to use the pins to get rid of the annoyance. "Well come on then, we are partners now." He told as he continued on his path to find the park.
It only took a few minutes to reach the large park which had only three people there. All humans who seemed to be getting into a large fight. "Wow, no wonder I prefer my computer." He thought aloud as he listened to the argument, however the argument soon stopped as monsters appeared, and attacked the humans erasing them. ".... Those must be the noise, but how do we-" He started, but stopped seeing one of the wolves charging him. He went to cover his face making a swiping motion, and as he did a pin with a wide open hand lit up, and he sent a car flying into the noise erasing it. "Well that solves that..." He sighed, but they still had a lot more to erase than just that one.

(Sorry about that. Yesterday was rough.)
Valkoinen followed a few paces behind him, watching the area for any sign of other players that might have noticed them. It wouldn't be too hard to figure out if someone was watching or not if their head was moving with them, but her attentions as drawn forward when they found the noise. She paused, not entirely confident about fighting these creatures. What were they, even?
As the car lifted off the ground and slammed the noise down, it clicked in her head that the beasts were just as mortal as they were, and with effort they could be killed. That was good enough for her. She spotted the closest noise and she moved around Shinji, running ahead. A sudden light from the pin and disorientation stopped her and she looked back, seeing she had moved much further than she had meant to.
The noise she'd been approaching snarled, and she whipped back around. She didn't have time to dwell on what the pin had done, she had a fight to focus on. The creature snapped its jaws at her, almost catching her by the arm. She moved back, though again she moved further than she'd intended, ending up back by Shinji. She scowled a bit in frustration, looking to Shinji. Perhaps he could explain?

Shinji watched his new partner while also making sure no Noise got too close to him. He was trying to learn what these pins did exactly, and he was starting to form a small idea. So deciding to his hypothesis into action he lifted one of the pins from his pocket, one with the mark of fire. With it he used his other hand to point near a noise, and sure enough a flame struck the beast, and as he kept pointing the noise soon was erased. "I see....." He stated with a smile he had always wanted powers like these, and it seemed this game would give him just that.
As his partner came back towards him he looked at her for a bit seeing she wanted to know what just happened. "From what I gathered we both have different pins in our pockets. Each one gives us a power of sorts.... Though once it stops lighting up you have to give it time to recharge." He informed her lifting up his fire one which was now black, and white though it was slowly gaining color again.
"I also have another guess that if we get to far away from each other they will stop working as you need a partner to use these. I gathered that from how none of these pins were colorful until we became partners." He stated his observations to her though he had no idea if he was right or wrong, but he guessed they'd find out the more they played the game. With that he swiped at another car sending it into another noise. "Now let's finish this mission."

Valkoinen was still a bit uncertain exactly what her pin was doing, but it seemed to be the only one she had. Whatever, she could do this! Even if she was stuck with some kid, even if she had a time limit! She'd figure this out, she had to.
As another noise approached, Valkoinen turned and charged at it. She was thankful she had given up her skills with games and kept her combat training. It definitely proved useful here. Again, her pin forced her to move faster farther than she had intended before going dull and her speed returned to normal as she came within striking distance of the noise. She pulled her arm back, swinging and striking it in the jaw. The noise snarled loudly, snapping its teeth just from her.
It was so dog-like. Perhaps fighting it as though it were a dog would work? She'd learned that the most dogs could do was bite, so if she kept aiming for the jaw and tried to break it, the noise shouldn't be able to do much after.
