Grouplove - Ways To Go: 3/5 The different vocalists provide contrast each other, which is a nice change from simply boosting each other's voice. However, the instrumentation doesn't develop much, and the bass guitar seems to practically be gone. I think the spacing and added effects compensates for this though, as it helps with the monotony. The synths are also decent in terms of balancing, as they aren't loud enough to take away from the vocals.

Matt Maeson - Go Easy: 2.5/5 I like the atmosphere and stylistic choices for the sound in this song, but I can't really forgive it for being practically copy pasted. The chorus and intermissions don't change at all, apart from lyrics, making the song feels like it drags on for a too long. Even a slight change in the lyrics of the chorus would help. Apart from that though, the percussion is very cool (that muted strumming noise especially). The synth element is also decent, but I've seen other songs use it better.

Avi Kaplan - Otherside: 3/5 Being honest, I'm not sure if I'm well equipped to rate music like this. The vocals are strong, and for what it is, the minimalist production does its job. However, it has absolutely no progression. On the flip side, the song doesn't really need to evolve much if you view it as a experiential piece rather than normal music. With that in mind I'll give it a 3, but it goes again what I'd conventionally consider good.

Florence and the Machine - No Choir: 4/5 I think its a ballsy move to have 30 seconds of your 159 second song not feature any instrumentals. It works extremely well though, as the piano and stringed instruments add an extreme amount of tension as the song continuous. The continual singing also helps with the tense mood. I wish the song exploded into something grand and loud, but I can still appreciate the muted tone it takes later on.

i just want all of ur opinions on jamiroquai songs bc he's my favorite music boy Jamiroquai - Time Won't Wait: 5/5 Weirdly enough, I think this song takes queues from commercial music applications. The backing instrumentals and filler audio sound like they come straight off something like Windows XP. It provides a light/unburdened feeling while being super bouncy, which I think is also partly a result of the production. (Minimal thumping bass is really pleasant on the ears, especially since a lot of loud bass gets tiring). The backing vocals and lead vocals are also extremely pleasant when accompanied with the bass guitar, because they seem to mesh together very well. I'm not joking when I mention Windows music either: This is from 2001
This is from 2005, but it might not be an influence since it came after this song.

I'll give you my 2 faves and a wild card
I'd prefer if you could give them one at a time, since I don't want to spend too much time reviewing only one post/person. You can pick whichever song you'd like me to check out first, and I'll look at the other two individually later.

OOOH I didn’t think getting a 5/5 would feel this good, but I’m glad you like the tunes! Jamiroquai is fantastic.
Also, I didn’t realize Windows XP had a full theme?? And it sounds great??? I can definitely hear similarities between the two songs!
