Imagine Dragons - Believer: 1/5 For the same reasons are I gave Cruise a 1, I'm giving this song a 1. Cruise was very generic but it had somewhat respectable instrumentation. This song is overly compressed, overly reliant on bass, and sounds like its coming from a tin can due to its production. I don't think this song takes risks/try ideas in any section, making it extremely bland. The extremely cheesy "marketing campaign style" lyrics don't help either. If I could give it a 0, I would, this is everything I don't want in a song. I gave this song an extremely scathing review, but don't take it as an attack on you or your tastes.

Mutemath - Typical: 3/5 I think the vocals are sort of distinctive but they're fitting for the tone of the song. I like the twangy guitar riffs, and they work well with the ambiance of the keyboard in the back. The drums are also fun to listen to. I don't think this is the groups strongest song (blood pressure is an awesome song) but its pretty good as a 2000s era punk song.

i mostly chose this song because of the music video; the fact they had to memorize the entire song backwards gets me every time. darren king is a beast on the drums for sure. blood pressure is also an amazing song of theirs; mutemath does not make bad music lol

Most the music I listen to is in Gaelige or Gaelige and English, had to do some digging to find a song entirely in English lol

Just a personal side note, I've always liked world history around ww2 that isn't america-centric and I somewhat recently found Sabaton and to me it really delivers a lot of different perspectives in a creative way while still being true and historical so I find myself enjoying it a lot, even learning new things I didn't know before through the lyrics and then falling down some google/wikipedia rabbit holes.

I didn't even know it was backwards lmao. another one lol- [iframe title="YouTube video player" width="560" height="349" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/PcoIbdT6n9I?wmode=transparent&start=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"][/iframe] skip ahead to 2:06 for the actual music Colony House - You & I: 4/5 Off the bat, the post processing on the drums are really strange in a good way, I don't think I've ever heard something like that (at 0:35 specifically). The keyboard/synth is a little over the top imo but I like them for the most part. The transitions are well done, the bass is very aggressive without being inflated, and the vocals are top notch near the end. The only reason this isn't a 5 is because I feel like this song is overly compressed and the instrumentation loses subtlety, kind of like most coldplay songs being honest (which I have to draw comparison to because this song sounds similar to them). Would be much better live.

I don't necessarily need to listen to an English song, its just easier to give my impressions on vocals/lyrics with something I can understand. The Lumineers - Ophelia: 4.5/5 I think the instrumentation in this is awesome, especially with how minimal the sound is for the most part. The gritty/unrefined sound to the drums gives it an awesome primitive/folk feeling that meshes well with the piano. The song is pretty repetitive though, musically and lyrically, but considering the length, its not too much of a complaint. The strained vocals at some points are also a great touch.

Sabaton - Night Witches: 3.5/5 This is one of the only songs in the thread that made my head bob being honest. I like the slight industrial elements to the song, and the guitar riff at 0:41 is an absolute banger. The vocals are also consistent and powerful which I appreciate a lot. I just think that the song by itself isn't the best, since it doesn't really provide any areas of rest and just blasts noise. As a part of the whole album though, it would serve its purpose well.

Of Monsters and Men - King And Lionheart: 1.5/5 I think this song also falls under the same category as a lot of the Chainsmokers and Imagine Dragons songs for sounding too corporate (I wonder why that's a recurring trend ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I won't repeat myself too much with that, but the instrumentals sound bland and uninspired. However: I think it does redeem itself slightly by using folk inspired sounds that blend in rather well. Then again, folk music goes good with almost anything tbh, so I wouldn't consider it too groundbreaking.

That's another thing. Ive shared Sabaton with some of my friends who have english as a second language and we all agree that the lead singer has a good voice that can be clearly heard and understood. (and is also kinda hot imo lol)

(and is also kinda hot imo lol) I think its also a feature of a lot of power-metal songs to have clear vocals. Since the instruments are so fast or ferocious, a good counterbalance is something a bit more soothing ("through the fire and flames" for example). Ironically the singer looks exactly like my aforementioned highschool chem teacher, which is why my petty ass doesn't listen to the band more. Also speaking of the singer, here's a collab he did with babymetal where they made a japanese sea shanty inspired metal song:
It's wild.

Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal: 4/5 I don't have too much to say about this song being honest. Its iconic, funky, well made and such. The only real reason I'm knocking points off is for personal taste, and the fact that its overplayed quite frequently.

The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling: 1/5 I don't really listen to the black eyed peas, but I appreciate a lot of their older works. They were introspective, instrumentally VERY interesting, and consistent. This song lost a lot of their charm and turned them into bland dancepop. There's nothing wrong with the genre in general, but this is a lazy song compared to their previous works. If they took more risks in this genre, I'd appreciate it more. Nostalgia makes me want to give this song a higher rating, but its genuinely bad. On a sidenote, Movement by the Black Eyes Peas is an excellent example of their awesome previous work.

Michael Jackson - Beat It: 4.5/5 I'd just be repeating myself being honest, so just use my previous Michael Jackson song rating for this one as well. I'd have more opinions to say about his lesser known songs, if you still want to show his music.

I saw you liked the Black Eyed Peas old music?? :oo would you like this song by them? Its a redo of an older one i believe
The Black Eyed Peas - #WHERESTHELOVE: 4/5 I think I prefer the original more, but this is a pretty good rendition of the song. I think this song suffers from compression because the instruments sound tinny, but they're actually not too bad. The instrumentals straddle the line of being generic at times, but the vocals are perfectly suited, and the backing vocals are a great touch.

Whoa is it just me, or did they finally make it so the uri codes play the whole song?
Edit: Nevermind, if you're logged on to spotify it'll play the whole thing. Otherwise not.
