Florida Georgia Line - Cruise: 1/5 For this song I do have a bit of a bias, but I'll try to explain why I genuinely believe its not good. To start off, I think the lyrics are extremely generic with the vocalist sort of just rambling about trucks and girls. I guess it plays into reminiscing about southern culture and such, but its more stereotypical and shallow than anything else. The instruments also don't help much as they blur into eachother without being memorable at all. The vocals, at the very least, are distinctive; but it doesn't really help when the lyrics themselves aren't that good. I think this is commercialized music rather than anything out of passion being honest.

It might be Kinda White of me but I actually like listening to cotton eye joe sometimes BECAUSE it's just ridiculous. (And that fiddling & banjo does kinda slap.)

Man I don't want to take this song seriously but Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe: 2.5/5 Considering this is a take on the song from a Swedish music group literally called Red Nex, its genuinely kind creative. The eurodance beat really sounds like something off a 90s action move and does not fit with a fiddle, but it works so I don't know what to say. The lyrics aren't much either, so everything combined its really just a novelty of a song. From the sheer spirit of it I'm giving it a 2.5

Banned from the original WCF im just curious what genre do you like the most? and whats your favorite song? I'm not gonna like judge it lol Ive just been curious I listen to a lot of different genres of """rock""" (some of the things I listen to are more like hip-hop/electronic/experimental but they have the "essence" of rock). A catch all term would be Goth though; I like a lot of darker/moodier music. As for my favourite song, it's hard to pick because I like rotating between a few core ones. However right now Kinderfeld by Marilyn Manson is my pick.

I think it's funny a lot of what we both listen to could be considered goth, but I veer more towards the campier kinds of goth like creature feature and aurelio voltaire and you listen to marilyn manson and bauhaus. I just like it when music doesn't exactly have to take itself seriously.

Men Without Hats - Safety Dance: 3.5/5 Weirdly enough I only know about this song through my old chem teacher. I think the instrumentation is cool and all, but with now breaks it kind of drags without any rest on the ears. That being said, it's by no means bad. The vocals are nice too, especially with (imo) the somewhat cryptic lyrics for the most part. I'm knocking 1/2 a point off because my teacher played this in the middle of a test at the worst moment possible.

Speaking of which, I recently took a listen to a whole creature feature album (The Greatest Show Unearthed) and tbh their stuff is actually genuinely pretty good. I can't find the songs sentimental or anything because it just isn't my kind of vibe but its some genuinely cool stuff apart from taste preferences. Also funny that you mention the part about serious music. Back in the day because going all "we live in a society", marilyn manson used to make stuff like this:

Woody Guthrie- This Land Is Your Land: 4/5 I'm not even American and I think this song is iconic. I think the very simple instrumentals and the vocals combine to make something extremely comforting (at least, this song feels comforting to me). I can't judge the lyrics too much since I don't know the proper context, but I do like the imagery.

I'm going to stick myself into total denial that anybody can dislike Dave Kincaid's vocals (well, unless the random echo he decided to add's the culprit, in which case I'd agree) and link another one of these.

The Brandos - The Hangin' Tree: 2/5 To me, the song has minimal changes in structure apart from a guitar solo partway through. It makes it a little tiring to listen to, especially since the instruments don't seem too engaging. I might just not be in the proper mood to listen to a song like this being honest, because I can't find anything particularly offensive in this. I do agree about the vocals though, they're very distinctive (and the subtle backing vocals through parts of the song are great as well).
