what are the best and worst things about living in oregon, in your opinion? The moderate weather is pretty great. Personally I love it when it's overcast and rainy, but we also get more sunshine than we like to admit. The area I live in is actually pretty similar to Washington. Portland is the worst thing here Portland is terrible and people who like it are crazy.

What are some unique traditions/customs/foods/things to your state? A lot areas are influenced by Native American languages. We have a lot of cities and other places whose names are native words, such as Champoeg (shampoo-ee), Clatskanie (Klat-scan-eye), Klamath, Molalla, Scappoose, Tillamook, Yachats (Ya-hots), etc. Southwestern Washington has a similar thing going I believe. Seafood is very prevalent here, particularly salmon. We also grow a great deal of hazelnuts and wine grapes. Oregon has a ton of vineyards.

We have a lot of Native American names here in Wisconsin too. It's fun to watch people not from the area struggle with some of the tough ones. Do you get a lot of that? Like people struggling to say city names?

Like people struggling to say city names? Yup. Especially Champoeg. I mean it's pronounced like shampoo-ee but it looks like cham-po-eg or something. We also have this city called the dalles which keeps getting mispronounced for some reason. Like it's literally the dal-s. But my grandparents told me that once someone walked up to them in a grocery store and asked them how the get to "theedles" rhymes with needles.

I definitely would've gotten the first one wrong without your pronunciation. I think some of the hardest we have are like Oconomowoc and Ashwaubenon and Weyauwega. Though I've also heard of people struggling with like Waukesha and Mukwonago which are, at least in my mind, super simple I really like looking up videos of people trying to pronounce them. My favorite is the video with the Texans. All of these cities were in that video

And Mukwonago muck-won-aw-go but that's probably wrong too. And the other three I'm pretty sure id butcher terribly. Native names are so hard to pronounce if you aren't familiar with them

You were actually pretty close on the first two. I'm not really good at phonetic spellings, but I know weyauwega is why-uh-wee-ga They really are. It's horrible but it's fun to watch others attempt to pronounce them

Hey, fellow Oregonian! For the longest time I thought I was the only one on this forum, haha
okay, so, 4 questions: - What's your opinion on Portland? - Umpqua or Tillamook? - U of O or OSU? you know I had to ask this one - Do you live east of the Cascades or on the coast?

I know there have been others but I think at least one quit. 1. Portland sucks. Traffic is terrible, crime rates are high, it's expensive, and the people I've met who live there are just eh. 2. Tillamook. Great ice cream, great yogurt, and great cheese. 3. OSU 4. I live in the Willamette valley west of the cascades.
