I'm being completely serious here, and I've felt like this for awhile now. I have never liked my name even when I was younger and now that I'm an adult, I can just do it myself and I've been doing tons of research on this as well.
And this is sort of more of a bonus since it isn't the main reason, but I've also mentioned on here before that I've been having family issues (though "issues" would probably be an understatement by this point), so other than moving to another country, changing my name would be my way of not having to associate with them besides visits. If I don't accomplish moving, then I can at least do the name change.
I've been thinking of taking a pseudonym should I ever become an author or playwright, and I always thought I'd pick the name Elizabeth as a first name, after Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice as well as the cinnamon roll that is Elizabeth Hamilton. For a last name, I'd thought of Knightley (again, after a character from one of Jane Austen's books). And since I never liked my name, why not make it official?
As far as middle names go, I was thinking of going with Jane (I'm sure all of you can guess why by now), or making that the first name and Elizabeth the middle name. Or I could just keep my current middle name, or just not have one at all.
It probably won't happen for a few years, but I just thought of looking into it now just in case.
If you ever wanted to change your name, what would it be? Or if you have, why did you choose it and how did your family and friends react? Are you content with your current name?
SMALL UPDATE: I decided on changing my name as soon as I can afford to pay any fees. And for some reason, I want to add the name Wisteria in there somewhere—it's a pretty flower in general and I always loved the name, although Elizabeth Jane Wisteria Knightley (or however you want to order it) might be a little too much. ^^"
Third Update: On second thought, I'm just going to go with one middle name, so it's either going to be Elizabeth Jane Knightley or Elizabeth Wisteria Knightley.

I always liked my first name, especially since it's spelled the less common way (though still a VERY common name). However, I've always hated my middle name, so when I got married, I was excited because I assumed that when you changed to your new last name, your maiden name automatically became your middle name, since that was how I'd always seen it. It doesn't work that way apparently, you have to request it, which I didn't know, so now I am stuck with my hated middle name for all eternity (I don't care enough to spend the money to change it again).

I like my first name - Sarah. Simple, short, sweet. Sure it isn't amazing or spectacular, but it gets the job done. And I love my last name - it also is short and sweet, and even though people pronounce it wrong all the time, I love it because of my family. In fact, when I get married I will be reluctant to leave it (and I know I can easily hyphen it but I'd rather not because that seems like much more effort when filling out forms and such). But, I know when I get married, if it's with the right person, I'll be just as proud to hold their name as I am to have mine. But Elizabeth Jane Knightley is pretty cool! I take it you like Jane Austen

She's actually one of my favorite authors, and my favorites novels from her are Pride and Prejudice and Emma, hence why I chose those names specifically.

I'm pretty all-around ok with my name. My first name sometimes gets on my nerves when a ton of other girls have it (my parents were trying to be "unique" when they chose it, little beknownst to them it's like the second most popular girl's name of 1996 -_-' (the year I was born). They were also supposed to go with a more gender-neutral name for me and rejected the idea, which is unfortunate, but I turned out pretty feminine anyways I guess.
My last name I have mixed feelings about. It sounds pretty/I always thought it kinda sounded like a good last name for a Shadowhunter when I read TMI series. At the same time, it's my dad's adoptive parents last name (I don't actually know what my last name would have been biologically), and he's not exactly close with them/doesn't get along with them for the most part, so I feel no real tie to that last name. Plus the only other two family members my age who share it with me are my cousins, both of whom are extremely delinquent and we don't associate with them either.
My middle name is cool. It's the same as my aunt's (the one I resemble) but with a slight alteration, which I think is pretty. It's semi common as a middle name but the alteration makes it unique
If I get married the plan is to ditch my current last name altogether, and take on my partner's, unless it's really that much worse or has a bad ring to it. I've thought of combining, but since my last name is so long unless they have a one-syllable last name it won't be worth it. I may end up hyphenating in the scenario where I'm either going to school to receive, or have already gotten, my PhD by the time I'm married. That way if I ever get anything published it's less confusing for the editors and whatnot. Also because I'm not a huge fan of working my butt off for those extra initials all those years only to tack someone else's name on the end xD

my name is pretty slammin' to be honest I'm the only person in the school districts I've been in to have the name, so pretty much everyone knows who I am and I always know when I'm being called for something. Also it has a meaning in another language (the meaning doesn't really fit me but it's a pretty kick-(male term for donkey) meaning so I can't complain). People often joke about it for a certain reason, but I can tolerate that because it's such a cool name although sometimes I do wish for a more common name like Sarah or Madison simply because my name can be a bit too conspicuous at times, but my name is really the only one I can think of that really fits me like a glove

If that's what you want, go for it ^^ Especially if you've been thinking about it for a long time. Just remember to tell your friends about the change because that can be awkward lol
But a couple of my friends had their names legally changed (one because she had family issues, the other because he is now officially a she) and they both said it was like starting fresh again. I don't know how expensive it would be, but if the price tag means less than the change, that probably means it's worth it to you.
My name is probably more feminine than I am, but I don't really mind. To me a name is just a weird sound someone makes to get someone's attention. xD And I've only met one other person irl that shares my name so that's cool. Means I don't have to look around and make sure they're not talking to some other person, which is pretty nice.

As for the price, it depends on where you live. In New York (where I'm live), the price is $210 in Supreme and County Courts; $65.00 in New York City Civil Court.

I don't really like my first name. It's unique, but I've never really liked it. If I changed it, which I probably will, it'd be to Maria or Jessica. Also, my first name isn't actually Maria. Privacy and all. I like my last name, but if I get married, I'm gonna take their last name. Or they'll take mine. Whatever.
But Elizabeth Jane Knightley is amazing + it has actual meaning.

If you don't like your current name, then I hope you get the chance to change it to either of those. And thanks! Speaking of meaning, I'm not even religious, but I almost forgot that the name Elizabeth was Biblical and it apparently means "My God is an oath" when translated from Hebrew. Jane means "Yahweh is gracious/merciful" and Knightley apparantly means "knight's meadow."

I really like the new addition of Wisteria!
TBH it's not like you'd have to sign out your full name very often probably, so having one extra one in there prob won't hurt if you really enjoy it ^_^ I always kinda wished I had 2 middle names (I was supposed to originally and it got cut down to one somewhere along the line)

And yeah, that's true. ^^ Really, I can already imagine the disapproval from my family, particularly from my grandmother. If she doesn't approve of my interest in paganism or me possibly being lesbian or at least bisexual, then I doubt she'd approve of me wanting to get my name changed. I don't even want to think about what her reaction would be if she knew I wanted to leave the country entirely.

Ahh, yeah. Family approval can be tricky :/ Hopefully she'll at least come around, even if she is a little shocked at first. It's prob be a lot of info to take in at once.
I'm really hoping to go travel the world/hopefully even settle abroad someday too. I always joke with my friends that I'm a "loose cannon" when it comes to commitments rn because at any moment I like to think that I could pack up my bags and jet off to England or Japan or something xD

I'm happy with my name for the most part- my surname is pretty typical for an English person (wayy back when, everyone got their surnames from things like their jobs so it's not unusual to meet a Baker or a Smith) and my first name is pretty and recognisable but rare enough that I don't know like 7 people with it (seriously if you live in my area don't call your kid William I know so many Williams). It has a meaning too, although it's weird, so I like it for that reason as well.
I don't like my middle name though- it's Susan, which is for me just... bleh. I'd have preferred Susanna at least.
Personally if I had to change my name it would be to Irene, after Irene Adler in the Sherlock Holmes story A Scandal in Bohemia. She's both clever and honourable, strong mentally and emotionally (and probably physically- that girl could kick some tushy). She seems like a pretty good role model to me!
Honestly I'd be more likely to name a child Irene bc as I said, I like my name. The name Irene also reminds me of my mum's name because they have the same initial, so I like it a lot.

I really don't like my first name, either, even though it's spelled uniquely and everyone else always compliments it. But I'm too chicken to change it, aha. I'm afraid people wouldn't take me seriously.

well i'm trans so yeah i def want a name change ya feel i'm picking charles for my first name since ppl call me charlie anyway (it's close enough to my birth name i can actually pass it off as a nickname in front of transphobic relatives and ppl who i don't want knowing which is nifty) and i'm taking my dad's last name (there's a reason i don't have his last name; it's kinda boring but i can explain if anyone does care to hear it) as my middle name which funnily enough leaves my initials the same
