As you may have seen in one of my older threads, see here, I really enjoy creating animashes. They are super fun to create and share. Now I would like to host my first MEP!
What is an animash?
An animash is basically a unique type of music video. It consists of a mashup of clips from different animated films and television shows, sometimes anime is used as well. You can even include your own animations sometimes. Usually the clips are taken from animal-related media, such as The Lion King or Bambi. This is combined with effects and text if the creator wishes. These clips, effects, and text are put together with a song. The song can be of any genre or mood, and doesn't have to be a popular song! There are many animashes out there put to songs you may have never even heard before, or don't even have words.
What is a MEP?
First off, MEP stands for "Multi-editor-project". This is not to be confused with a MAP, a "multi-animator-project" where only user-drawn animations are used, not official movies or shows. It is basically the same as an animash, but instead of one person creating it, multiple people edit different parts of the song. This is usually faster, especially if each person completes their parts on time.
If you want to see examples of these, look them up on Youtube and you'll get plenty of results.
So when I say I want to host a MEP, that means I would be choosing a song, and specifying the different parts you can claim. Afterwards, any person who wants to join, can! There are a few things you would need to participate.
-Video-editing software - I don't care what program you use! You don't need a complex, expensive program to make an animash. As long as you put your best effort in, then that's good enough for me.
-A Youtube account- After you create your part, I would need you to upload it to Youtube, so that I can download it and insert it in the video. Make sure there is a cutout scene before and after your part, sometimes Youtube accidentally cuts out a few seconds of a video when it is uploaded on there.
-Youtube grabber- There are plenty of free, safe ones available to use. I can even suggest a few. These are helpful for grabbing HD clips on Youtube to use in your video if you don't have the movie on your computer. You can also use them to get your songs and stripping them from the video to have just the audio. Again, that's if you don't have the song downloaded on your computer from iTunes or another source.
I use Sony Vegas Pro 13 [not free], for video editing, and GIMP and Photoshop CS6 if I want to add my own designs.
Before I upload a video, I would like to know how many people would want to help me with this. I will be posting this thread on a few other places, and I will let people pick the parts they want to do. It will probably be first come-first serve, and not biased on anything or experience. After that, I will give a deadline and if your part is not finished by then, I will need a good reason why or else I will give you a warning. If this warning is not heeded by, I will open up the part again for someone else to claim. More rules will be given when the song is chosen, such as the types of animations that can be used.
Now if people will volunteer, the fun part is that YOU get to help decide what song to use!
