Darkstar wants Foxface dead because he blames him for the death of his daughter Jadepaw who had been killed in a fox attack but came back as a spirit to kill Foxface. Foxface killed her once and for all after that.

Foxface killed his daughter after she had been rosen from the dead. He didn't want Darkstar's daughter to be healed from death because of the Spirits telling them that something bad would happen if they did. Darkstar became enraged after hearing about his daughter dying twice ans he hungered for revenge, ever since.

Because Darkstar believes, along with half of the clan, that Foxface was involved in his daughter Jadepaw's death. In reality, after Jadepaw was revived after the attack on the fox, she became colder, eventually trying to kill Foxface, and he only acted in defense.
