I'm currently in the process of writing a novel titled A Dream of War. it's a high fantasy novel about a malevolent, bloodthirsty empress and her path of conquest. seeing as I'm all alone in this venture, I decided to seek out some help.
for the editor, I'm looking for someone who is highly experienced with writing and world building. it doesn't matter if you're interested in fantasy or not - I just need another author or great writer.
for the beta readers, I'm looking for some people who are interested in high fantasy and some people who are not. I need people who can give me feedback on how I should change it to interest more high fantasy readers and people who can give me feedback on how I should change it to interest more readers in general.
here is an excerpt from the first chapter:
The procession to the drafting hall was quick and filled with chatter. No one else was bothered by the two deaths that had just occurred, but one Gewelan man did look quite disgruntled. Not upset; a Gewelan was never upset. As Ziknah said, “Gewelans are strong and hardy. We are not made weak by sights of blood or gore, as the Vaeen are.” That had been a pointed jab at me during a grand dinner we had held. I was born in Vaea and had taken after our Vaeen mother. Ziknah had been born in Gewela, the first province, and had taken after our Gewelan father. She was abusive and manipulative and I was quiet and relatively domicile. She hated me for it.
As much as I tried, I wasn’t able to get the deaths of those two young men off of my mind. Even though execution was ever present in our court, it had been quite some time since I had last seen one so bloody. Even as I sat down and took food off of one of the center plates, I was numb and not mentally present. It took the man at my side pinching my thigh for me to come to attention.
